How many incisions did you have?

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Had my surgery today and feeling really good minus a bit of pain getting in and out of bed. Just wondering how many incisions you all have. I was only given 2 so I assuming that is a great thing and will make my healing process much faster. Anyone else only have two? I was the first surgery of the day with my doctor and he had 5 more after me so unfortunately I didn't get to speak to him about it. The nurses said I did great. Can't wait!

I have 5. Sounds like you got to have the single incision (which yes for most turns out as 2 so they can use the liver retractor).

You guys are lucky. I had a ventral hernia repair in addition to the lap band placement. I ended up with 13 incision sites. :o

You are lucky to only get 2!

I have 5.

One in my belly button.

A 2 inch incision on my left side above my belly button (port site).

Also 3 small incisions across my upper abdomen.

Hi there. I had one incision in my belly button and one tiny little hole just under my sternum. I opted for a "scarless" procedure and my surgeon did a great job...absolutely no scars ten months out. You'd never even know I had anything done. If you have a belly button incision, though, they seem to be the worst in terms of pain and healing. You have to be very careful about movements with them. Mine was worth it.

I had 4 small ones and one larger one for my port. Best Luck Keep Us Updated. Take the pain Med's if you hurt!! Walk as soon as you can and you did great!

I have 4. I can barely see the three tiny ones but my port one is pretty nasty.

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
