HELLO!!! I saw October and even December Bansters but no November...so I thought I would start the November Bansters! I called the Insurance company and I got a verbal approval. If all goes well I will be banded on November 14, 2011. Woo-hoo!! 11/11 will be the beginning of a WONDERFUL NEW LIFE!! I can't wait to do this for ME!!

Hi,

I'm Scheduled for the 28th So we will be on this journey together. I will support you if you need it and I'm sure you will do the same. I'm nervous but I know that I have to do this. This is a huge lifestyle change, but it is one that I must take. Im at 350 lbs and need to drop 110. I have just gotten heaver and heaver over the years. So with that said I am making this decesion to move on and finish the rest of my life as a vastly smaller, healther person.

I have some clothes from several years ago that I'm going to hang up as a goal to help motivate me to the day I can wear them again. I've put on nearly 60lbs in the last 5 years.

I'm happy for you that your so enthused to start your journey. Best of luck.

BRD

Day 3 of being banded and feeling good. My rib cage is a little sore and I think I finally expelled all the gas in my body from the surgery. This morning I noticed that my tummy was growling but I have no appitite! It's the oddest feeling. I don't even think about food which has never happened to me. All is going smooth in my world!

This site is great, I have learned a lot these past few hours. They require a 7 day liquid diet and earliest date they gave me is 11/18 but that might fall to the 25th. Either way it looks like I too will be a November Banster. Looking forward to the Facebook group and all the support we can give each other.

Hello again all!

Had final pre-op apts last Thursday. Surgery is slated for Tuesday the 8th!!! 3DAYS AWAY! I am nervous but the excitement is by far outwieghing the anxiety. I spent thursday evening reading the boards and between info I got here and that from my Dr I was armed with a laundry list of items to pick up from the store on Friday morning! My heating pad is revved up and ready and I am well prepared with chewable or liquid forms of calcium citrate, Vitamins, extra strength tylenol, gas x melt strips, broths and sugar free jellos. I have a months worth of Unjury protien shakes(and auto ship is already set up!) including their unflavored and chicken Soup varieties. If you have not tried them out I would highly reccomend it! The vanilla is my favorite as you can create SO many different flavors with it!

What I am wondering is what is your clothing comfort level? I have been a bit concerned about how comfortable waistlines and underwire bras are gonna be post surgery? I cannot help the bra as the girls are too big to go without a wire but I did purchase a few empire waist dresses, as I am a dress and boots kinda gal. Can anybody give me some info on this?

I cannot wait to start to start my new life journey and am so excited to have you all along for the ride! if any one should want to chat for support through good times and bad you can find me on face book Jen Pabst

Wishing one and all a blessed surgery and a healthy happy and speedy recovery!

Jen

Hi Jen

From what I have experienced I noticed that my lower belly is not sore at all, all my wounds are on my upper waist, so wearing some sweat pants and an over sized tshirt has worked well. I wore a cotton under wire bra (I am top heavy too)and it doesn't really bother me. Since I lost 10 lbs in my pre open diet my work clothes are fitting me loser so I'm not to worried about having dress issue. Your empire dresses might rub the wound on your upper waist. Oh also, take a pillow with you so you can place it between you and the seatbelt. It was a life saver for me on my ride home post open. Hope this helps!

Hi all. I am right now on my way to my pre op date with the doc. I am nervous. This process has been like dream. I am worried that there will be something wrong and it will be pushed back from the 8th. Wish me luck!

Lina- i Had the same exact fears and doubts you r having. I felt that just because I wanted this so bad that it wasnt gonna happen for me. I was in nervous wreck up until they were actually putting my iv on. U will be fine. If there were anything in the way of you having the surgery, they would hav told you already. Enjoy your moment and dont stresss. I wish you all the best. It's going to b fine.

I wrote a long note about my surgery -- and my computer erased it!! One more try! My name is Lynne and I'm a 68 year-old widow. I live by myself. My son was with me for the surgery and then took me home the next day (I stayed overnight). I was a little nervous a few days before the surgery, but I have to tell you that it went so much better than I had anticipated! I lost about 15 pounds before surgery and when I got home and got on the scale, I had gained 5 back. I assume it was from the IVs and all the fluids. I'd like to lose about 70 or 80 pounds. I'd probably be happy with 60! I want to tell you all that I woke up from the surgery without any pain. I think that I had discomfort from the gas. I started walking and walking. I read that this will help to get rid of gas. The next day, I think I had a little more gas, but no real pain from the surgery. You should have seen the grin on my face when I passed a little gas!!! It hurts a little when I bend over, but that's all. I slept on my stomach last night. I had prepared everything that I would need before I left. Day 2 when I got home, I was able to eat ff, plain greek yogurt, strained Soup, Protein Shakes, crystal light. Not bad at all. I wasn't hungry. Today is day 4 and so far so great! I hope it is this easy (at least so far) for all of you.

Lynne

I dont own a pair of sweats, guess I will be off to wally world tomorrow hee hee! Has anyone noticed they are COLDER than normal? My sis had R&Y surgery 2 years ago and says she has been cold ever since. I am into my 3rd day preop liquid diet and I have been cold since I started unless I am moving!

Linna,

We will both be going in on the same day I believe! I had my preop and all was well and doc said he would see me tues morning! I know I am stressing a bit but just on trying to make sure I have everything done that needs doing BEFORE surgery. I am trying to take nice deep breathes when I start to feel overwhelmed and I get on here for a dose of positivity and it helps! I will be keeping you in my thoughts for a blessed surgery and healthy painfree recovery.

Jen

Hello All -

This is my first post to the boards. My surgery is scheduled for November 14th. I'm excited, but starting to get a little nervous. I had my pre-op visits to the doctor, the hospital, and the anesthesiologist on Nov. 2nd. I am on a liquid diet until the surgery. I didn't have too much luck on my pre-surgery weight loss...it was difficult for me. So, now I have to lose as much as possible in the next 10 days. The liquid diet isn't so bad. I'm using the GNC Wheybolic Protein Powder in chocolate and Cookies and cream. I mix it with almond milk (only 2 carbs per 8oz serving) and it satisfies my needs. My mom will be with me for the surgery and a few days afterwards. I will post again after the surgery and let you all know how it went. I also appreciate those who have posted already with handy tips and tricks for the big day. Good luck to all of you out there!!!

i feel so all alone...am i the only one going in on the 12th? :P heehee!

just had my pre-op consult, which ended up being very short because i had already had most of the tests done that they needed. i'm not required to do a pre-op diet, but i'm trying to eat a sort of "clean liver" diet this week and i may try to do liquids only for 2-3 days before my surgery.

i'm feeling nervous and excited! i'm going to do all my shopping today to stock up on liquids for when i get home. i'm for sure spending the night at the hospital after my surgery- they mentioned they want me to stay so they can keep an eye on me.

good luck to everyone!!

Have a great Wednesday too! Sorry you're hungry all the time, I'm pretty much the same..and I'm sick of eating the same food all the time.

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!

Having gall bladder surgery in a few days and I so hope the recovery is easier than the one from the modified DS! I could use a bit of luck/pep talk for a change. I'm starting to be able to walk around without experiencing dizziness, but it would be great if the random pain in my chest and abdomen would go away!!
