I used to sign in to a page that would show the most recent posts. Does that not exist anymore? I found it the best way to keep on top of trending topics.

Thanks

Just today, I've had that problem too. I used to click on 'View New Content' on the top right, now when I do, it is blank... Which, I'm sure there have been new posts since I logged in yesterday (and it was working).

Me, too!! It is aggravating on top of all the other aggravations involved in the new and "improved" LBT. No wonder few of the old timers are visiting and posting.

This is happening again to me today. I press View New Content and I get a message that says "Sorry, no new content to display".

Unfortuntely, I think the switch over to the new LBT has driven away a lot of the old timers. I'm not one to complain about website changes, but it is just too bad because there were a lot of people on here with great things to say who had had their bands for a long time (thus being in a different position to offer insight than those who have only had it a short while) and I don't see many of them around anymore. Oh well....I'm not sure if concerns are really being taken in to consideration but its probably a bit late now for a switch back or something like that. I think those who have left, have left for good.

Alex, if you can please let me know how to access the new content, it would be much appreciated.

This issue has been corrected.

Over the years LBT has grown quite a bit and we thought it would be a great idea to move the web site to "the cloud." It was a fantastic idea in concept but didn't work as planed. We had quite a few outages and pages on the web site were taking ages to load. We recently moved back to our own array of servers and our members should experience a lot more stability and speed. We plan on increasing our capacity shortly and our members experience should only get better.

We also made some major changes to the back/front end used for LBT. We had over 1,500,000 posts to convert and over 100,000 members to migrate to our new platform. We've completed almost all of our major changes and you will continue to see new and useful features added to LBT on a regular basis. This new platform will allow us to scale and grow without running in to issues we've had previously.

I'm here listening to our members complaints, comments and feedback and we will continue to improve our community based on your valuable feedback.

I'm unfortunately still having issues with the New Content page as well as My Content. When I click on New Content, I usually get a maximum of 5 new posts (there are others listed but they're not new). So for example: if I log on at 10PM on Monday night, and then log on at noon on Tuesday, there will be about 5 new posts since 10 PM Friday night. I know that's not the case because if I click on the homepage, I can see the most recent posts in each category, and most of them are within the last few minutes and NONE of them are listed in the new content area.

Additionally, I get emails that people have just replied to a topic I have subscribed to. I log on immediately and click on New Content and the post is not listed in the new posts despite having been posted in in the last 2 minutes. I then go to My Content to access the thread via my threads I have posted in, and its not there (only some of the threads I've posted in are there). Then I do a search for the thread and it doesn't come up. The only way to access the thread is by clicking on the link in my email (which sucks if I've deleted the email assuming I could acces the thread via My Content and New Content).

I'm getting tired and bored of reading the same 4 threads everyday (as that's all I can access). If LBT decides to pick 4-5 threads to update for me in new content that I'm not interested in, its just pointless to log in. Is there any hope for any of these issues actually getting fully resolved?

So far, changing it to 5 minutes hasn't effected anything. When I direct my browser to: http://www.lapbandtalk.com/, I can see new posts in each of the different forum topics (Introductions, Pre Operation Lapband Surgery, Post Operation Lap band surgery, General Lap Band Surgery, Lap Band Fills, food and Nutrition, Fitness and Exercise, etc). These are the titles of each of the New Posts in these categories right now at this moment (Jan 30, 10:13PM) which I can see on the homepage: "body image" (posted 9:48PM), "Getting my Lap Dance tomorrow" (posted 9:57PM), "Newly Banded. Any Regrets?" (posted 10:06PM), "5 days post-op...still hungry" (posted 10:10PM), "Acanthosis nigricans" (posted 8:10PM), "Utah fills and aftercare" (posted 9:15PM), "Calories per day" (posted 8:51PM), "Nintendo Wii" (posted 7:45PM), "Surgery Date 12/05/2011?" (posted 9:41PM), etc. The list goes on. Not ONE SINGLE ONE OF THESE POSTS (or any of the others that I did not have the patience to list) is listed in the "New Content" section when I click on it.

Additionally, I know how to see my own posts under "My Content". That was not my issue. My issue is that many of the threads that I have posted in are not listed under "My Content", including this thread.

So once again, I've been looking at the same 5-6 "new" threads all day today and when I want to respond to the mutltude of threads that I am subscribed to and which I have received email notifications for today, my only access to these threads is by clicking on the link in the email (as they are not listed under New Content, My Content, and they do not show up in a search).

LBT is not functional for me. If there is a fix for it, I'd love to know what it is so I can stay. If this is how it will remain, I'd also like to know so I can find a new band community where I can interact with all the conversations going on (not just a few select ones everyday).

Hey there,

I'm the Site Administrator for LapBandTalk.com.

I've just reviewed the "New Content" - and it's on par with the actual new content. As far as the content being updated every 5 minutes, it appears to be working just as it should. I also verified that the new content appears properly under your specific account.

With regards to "Your Content " or "My Content", this also appears to be working as it should. It will show a list of Topics that you've posted to, which deems that as your content.

You showed us the content from the Home Page - but we know that's working fine. It would be helpful if you could show me the content from your My Content page and the New Content page, since that's what you're asking about.

We look forward to helping you.

Thanks,

Ken

Hi Ken -

Thanks for your prompt response. My Content is now listing all of the posts I have posted in I think. However, now, the posts are not chronologically in order. Currently, this is the order the posts in My Content are in (by time/date stamp from top to bottom): Yesterday 10:19PM, Yesterday 11:47PM, Yesterday 7:57 PM, Yesterday 11:49PM, Yesterday 6:05PM, Yesterday 11:57PM, Yesterday 10:16PM, Jan 28 2011 10:49PM, Jan 28 2011 5:29PM, Jan 28 2011 12:28AM, Jan 27 2011 8:19PM, Today 12:22PM, Yesterday 8:02AM, Today 3:37AM, Jan 28 2011 12:33AM, Yesterday 6:32AM, etc....

I'm glad that it looks like My Content is showing all of my content now, but how can I put them in chronological order so I don't have to scroll through 3 pages in order to find a thread that was posted in 5 minutes ago?

As for the New Content, I'm posting a picture of the homepage and a picture of my New Content page (taken right now at 12:50PM). From that you'll be able to see that none of the posts listed on the homepage appear in my New Content. There are a bunch of new posts that were posted between 11:00-11:59AM today (shown on the homepage). On my New Content page, there are NO new posts between 11-11:59AM. Additionally, it only lists two posts between 10:00-10:59AM today which I definitely know is not true because there were two posts made in the New Year, New You Challenge 2011 between 10-10:59 (I received email notifications and then I checked in the thread to see when they were posted) which doesn't show up at all when I click on New Content (which you can see in the picture). By 10AM there are always tons of new posts on LBT, so I know that there were more than 2 posts made in the 10AM hour and you can see from the screen shot that there were tons of posts made during the 11AM hour, none of which show up on New Content. Looking forward to a solution. Thanks.

Edit: I'm sending you via message the links to the photos in Picasa. Thanks.

Hi,

I haven' t been on in 2 days, and neither the "View New Content" nor the "View My Content" is working for me. They both say something to the effect of no content to display. sad.gif

That section has been a problem for weeks and is now nonfunctional...I hope it gets fixed because it is how I like to browse.

Mimi

I'm glad its not just me - there is no way for me to view the most recent posts either (and I'm not going to go through each forum category individually). I even tried creating a new account and it was the same. I sent a private message to Alex and another admin and no one replied back to me (big surprise there). I just have not been coming here as often. This site went from being amazing, functional, informative, etc to completely non-user friendly and dysfunctional.

So I guess after gastric bypass surgery, I cant eat flock chips because they are fried???  They sell them on here so I thought I could have them. So high in protein and no carbs.  They don't bother me at all.  Help.

It's possible for a very high fat meal to cause dumping in some (30% or so) gastric bypass patients, although it's more likely to be triggered by high sugar, or by the high fat/high sugar combo (think ice cream, donuts). Dietitians will tell you to never do anything that isn't 100% healthy ever again. Realistically, you should aim for a good balance of protein, carbs, and fat each day. Should you eat fried foods every day? No. Is it possible they will make you sick? Maybe. Is it okay to eat some to see what happens and have them for a treat every now and again? Yes.

I'm not at all hungry on this liquid pre-op diet, but I miss the sensation of chewing. It's been about two weeks––surgery is in two days––and I can't imagine how I'll feel a couple of weeks post-op. Tonight, I randomly stumbled upon a mukbang channel on YouTube, and it was strangely soothing... is it just me, or is this a thing?

I actually watched cooking shows during my pre-op, like Great British Baking Show. It was a little bizarre, but didn't make me hungry. I think it was also soothing in a way.

How do you figure out what your ideal weight should be? I've had a figure in my head for years, but after 3 mths of recovery I'm already almost there. So maybe my goal should be lower?
      1. NickelChip

Well, there is actually a formula for "Ideal Body Weight" and you can use a calculator to figure it out for you. This one also does an adjusted weight for a person who starts out overweight or obese. https://www.mdcalc.com/calc/68/ideal-body-weight-adjusted-body-weight

I would use that as a starting point, and then just see how you feel as you lose. How you look and feel is more important than a number.

      2. Clueless_girl

I did find different calculators but I couldn't find any that accounted for body frame. But you're right, it is just a number. It was just disheartening to see that although I lost 60% of my excess weight, it's still not in the "normal/healthy" range..

      3. NickelChip

I think it's important to remember that the weight charts and BMI ranges were developed a very long time ago and only intended to be applied to people who have never been overweight or obese. Those numbers aren't for us. When you are larger, especially for a long time, your body develops extra bone to support the weight. Your organs get a little bigger to handle the extra mass. Your entire infrastructure increases so you can support and function with the extra weight. That doesn't all go away just because you burn off the excess fat. If you still had a pair of jeans from your skinniest point in life and then lost weight to get to the exact number on the scale you were when those jeans fit you, chances are they would be a little baggy now because you would actually be thinner than you were, even though the scale and the BMI chart disagree. When in doubt, listen to the jeans, not the scale!

Tomorrow marks two weeks since surgery day and while I'm feeling remarkably well and going about just about every normal activity, I did wind up with a surface abscess on on of my incision sights and was put on an antibiotic that made me so impacted that it took me more than two hours to eliminate yesterday and scared the hell out of me. Now there's Miralax in all my beverages that aren't Smooth Move tea. I cannot experience that again. I shouldn't have to take Ativan to go to the lady's. I really looking forward to my body getting with the program again.
I'm in day three of the "puree" stage of eating and despite the strange textures, all of the savory flavors seem decadent.
I timed this surgery so that I'd be recovering during my spring break. That was a good plan. Today is a state holiday and the final day of break. I feel really strong to return to school tomorrow.

Now that I'm in maintenance mode, I'm getting a into a routine for my meals. Every day, I start out with 8-16 ounces of water, and then a proffee, which I have come to look forward to even the night before. My proffees are simply a black coffee with a protein powder added. There are three products that I cycle through: Premier Vanilla, Orgain Vanilla, and Dymatize Vanilla.
For second breakfast on workdays, I will have a low-fat yogurt with two tablespoons of PBFit and two teaspoons of no sugar added dried cherries. I will have ingested 35-45 grams of protein at this point between the two breakfasts, with 250-285 calories, and about 20 carbs.
For second breakfast on non-workdays, I will prepare two servings of plain, instant oatmeal with a tablespoon of an olive oil-based spread. This means I will have had 34 grams of protein, 365 calories, and 38 carbs. Non-workdays are when I am being very active with training sessions, so I allow myself more carbohydrate fuel.
Snacks on any day are always mixed nuts, even when I am travelling. I will have 0.2 cups of a blend that I make myself. It consists of dry roasted peanuts, cashews, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds, pistachios, and Brazil nuts. This is 5 grams of protein, 163 calories, and 7 carbs.
Breakfast and snacks have been the easiest to nail down. Lunch and dinner have more variables, and I prepare enough for leftovers. I concentrate on protein first, and then add vegetables. Typically tempeh, tofu, or Field Roast products with roasted or sautéed vegetables. Today, I will be eating leftovers from last night. Two ounces of tempeh with four ounces of roasted vegetables that consist of red and yellow sweet peppers, sweet potatoes, small purple potatoes, zucchini, and carrots. I will add a tablespoon of olive oil-based spread, break up 3 walnuts to sprinkle of top, and garnish with two tablespoons of grated Parmesan cheese. This particular meal will be 19 grams of protein, 377 calories, and 28 grams of carbs. Bear in mind that I do eat more carbs when I am not working, and I focus on ingesting healthy carbs instead of breads/crackers/chips/crisps.
It's a helluva journey and I'm thankful to be on it!
