Supply check list for TT?

Hi guys,

I thought for sure there was a supply check list pinned on this forum but I don't see one. Anyone have suggestions for items I will need for my TT on the 16th? So far all I have is the dail soap I have to wash with before the surgery. I have a power leather recliner that should be here on saturday. I have bought a few nightgowns and Pj pants but Target didn't have any sweats so i'll go look for some later today. For entertainment I have netflix and a couple of books. Do I need a chair for the shower? A toliet extender (not sure what they really call it)?

I think i've read on here something about a gel compression garment and bookmarked it on my old computer. Anyone know where I can find it?

Anyways, your suggestions would be great! Thank you!

Had mine 3 days ago and just got home from follow-up with surgeon.

First thing is to make sure you fill all prescriptions prior to surgery. I have had no pain since I got home because I have been popping the pills like candy every 4 hours.

I am not allowed to shower for at least a week. So, no special seat needed there. Stock up on baby wipes. that will probably be your showering for a week.

You shouldn't need anything special for the toilet either.

I was provided with a velcro conversion wrap by the hospital. I don't know what the the gel one is. They also gave me compression knee socks to keep the fluids from pooling in my legs.

I have been wearing pajamas to hospital and doctor visit. If you have a sporting goods store close by, they will have cheap sweats. Make sure they are really baggy. You'll have drains and a pain pump under them and you don't want the clothes rubbing you too hard where they may irritate the incision.

Have plenty of Water handy as well. The more you drink, the faster you'll heal.

Good luck and keep us informed on how it goes!!

Hi:

Stock up on your groceries, medications, and entertainment (books & movies). You may want to get pajamas and/or sweat pants that have pockets because that's a convenient way to carry your drains around. Also, shirts that button up, not pull over. It may be hard to lift your arms if you have your stomach muscles tightened. If you don't already have a sheet protector on your bed, you may want to get one of those because my drain or incisions leaked at night on my new mattress. Also, some extra vitamin-c helps with healing (my doctor recommended it) and I think I healed well. You may want to get an extra binder too. You'll want one with "stays" or "bones" in it. I think I got mine on JC Penney website.

Pain medication can make you kind of loopy so you may want to set up a chart so that you always know when the last dosage was and stay on top of the pain by keeping up with the medication. It seems that it's easier to prevent the pain coming on than it is to diminish the pain once it's bad.

Best wishes to you. Let us know how it goes.

Sue

Also, you won't be able to lie flat on your back. If you don't have a recliner or lots of pillows on your bed, buy some kind of pillow to prop behind while sleeping.< /p>

How long do I need to have the head elevated post-op? I did get a bed wedge pillow but am just curious how long it will be needed. My TT and brachioplasty are in 3 days. Thanks!

I'm over 2 months out since my TT and MR and still use my pillows (6 total) to prop myself and elevate my legs as it feels much better to not lie flat or straight. The incision from the TT is fine (numb); however, the muscle repair is still uncomfortable while in bed or trying to get comfortable to sleep. I don't have any discomfort when I'm up and about.

Thanks! I'm a side sleeper and am hoping I can actually sleep on my back, elevated at both ends. And that the cat doesn't think I'm doing it for her!

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
