So how do I lose weight between now and my first fill which is 4 weeks away?

I'm thinking I should just go back on Weight Watchers in the meantime. I find it easier to track points rather than calories. I'm determined to lose more weight before my first fill.

How do you guys lose weight while waiting on your first fill?

And I know the first fill may not give me complete restriction but it should help a little right? My doc does 3-4 cc's the first time.

IDK- I was just thinking about this in the way home. I think Im going to go back and do the pre-op low carb/high Protein for a few weeks until my first fill. Even after my fill I do plan on staying low carb but want to incorporate fruits into my diet so at least they are good carbs.

I can't decide. I was thinking If I go back to low carb/high Protein at least that will control my appetite while I'm waiting for restriction.

I just refuse to gain back any of what I've lost already and I'd like to get under 200 soon. I only have 6 pounds to go.

You sound very determined- that's what it takes to succeed. I did weight watchers, I think it is a very healthy program. You could continue it even after fills give you restriction. I found the meetings really helpfull. My first fill didn't help at all, it took 3 for me to feel restriction. Hang in there through "bandster hell" and know it will happen.

I gotta say, I feel much better hearing everyone else's comments. I'm in "hell" myself at the moment, lol. I was banded on the 6th of August, had my first post opp visit and I'm due for my first fill on Sept 8th. I'm trying so hard to continue the weight loss but right now, it doesn't wanna come off. I know I'm being a bit anxious here and I need to be patient but I don't want a gain before my first fill either. I'm just trying to figure out how my first fill is gonna help the weight come off when I'm not really eating all that much right now as it is.

I am going to start weight watchers in 2 weeks when I am able to start eating "normal" foods again. I want to get this weight off and I am very anxious to get started as well. We can do a support group if you want to do WW as well and we can keep each other determined and encouraged!

I feel the same way Jamie, I watch everything I eat, don't want to gain the little weight I've lost back. Keeping my calories/carbs low and feel like I should be losing more weight. Are we living off of our reserved fat right now? Will our body get used to low calories and eventually give in and let us lose? Everyone says it will happen I just can't wait until it does. I keep thinking next year at this time I will feel so much better about myself, physically and mentally. We can do it!!

I track on fitday.com and it's for free. I paid attention to my lean Protein sources and getting at least 60g of protein daily plus a supplemental shake. I like the Isopure the best but if I mix fruit in with the mixes they aren't so bad. Anyway, I focused on lean protein sources then veggies, then fruits, then carbs (whole wheat toasted english muffin or whole wheat Pasta etc.) My calories varied between 1000-1400 and I also went to the gym a lot once I got the ok otherwise I was walking. I had great restriction when I first started on a regular diet and as I healed, the swelling went down and I was left with nothing. I just had my second adjustment and until I know if this one gives me restriction, it's totally all my own will power. But as you loose weight it gets easier and more motivating to keep going. And seeing the changes in the mirror is the best motivator. My husband even commented on my 'guns'. Lol.

I counted calories and walked A LOT! I stayed below 1000 calories a day.

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
