Good morning, Violets..

All is well here in the frozen north. 27 degrees here and I turned the furnace up to 66 in the house. We keep it at 64 at night. brrrrrrr....

Kris is doing fine today.. I have a concert at 2 and then we are going out there for dinner tonight. I am making chocolate chip Cookies for the reception for our new interim pastor which will be after church tomorrow. He arrives in town this afternoon. I can't wait to hear his sermon tomorrow. I am singing a solo tomorrow... a golden oldie.. They Will Know We are Christians by our Love. The words are so appropriate for our congregation right now.

We leave after church tomorrow to head to Detroit so we can fly out Monday morning to Florida. Not sure if I will have access to a computer, but I'll catch up on everything (including the countdown) when I get back. I'm not going to start a countdown for our new baby until I know things are ok.

Off to get cookies out of the oven and put more in. Ahhhh the temptation!!

Everyone have a great weekend!!

Good Saturday morn, everyone!

DS is doing ok... bad bruising and swelling... + a big cleat gash... sometimes I really wish they'd wear more than just shin guards as protection (not that the shin guard guarded anything yesterday!). He's taking it easy, keeping his leg up & iced & he's got prescription Tylenol for the pain. He's gotten inundated with texts, e-mails, calls, and even a card... even parents and teachers are calling to check on him... so nice. We (only half-jokingly) asked him when the girls were going to start showing up with baked goods! I'd be surprised if at least one didn't...

And me? In between nurse-maid duties, I'm working today. I'm motivated to finish this chapter, because then I'm going to sit by the roaring fire and relax and knit... so the sooner I'm done, the sooner I can do that!

Everyone have a great day and JUDY... have a great trip to warm & wonderful Florida!! Jealous!

Good morning girls!

Home from the gym and ate 3 Oreos?????:eek: Oh well!

It is PRIDE weekend here! Doing some this and that today, then making EVIL tonight for the Rock Band party. I texted Laura, not sure if she responded yet, but I'll put it out here...do I double the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla or just the cream cheese? Remember when we made it, we talked about it was supposed to be doubled.

Skipping church tomorrow...most of the congregation is marching in the parade...so we are going downtown to sit in front of Rob and Charles' shop! We don't even need chairs, they have it for us!

PLEASE TEXT ME ABOUT THE EVIL!

I have never made evil so I don't know, I do vaguely remember that convo. I think I remember liking yours better because it didn't have as much cream cheese.

We are going to dinner tonight for parents anniversary, so I am home and it feels odd, I left work a bit early because I was so slow. Going to take a bit of a nap and hope my headache lessens.

Hope everyones weekend is going great and have fun in Florida Judy!!!

Pam I didn't get a text??? You double the cream cheese, everything else remains the same.

It's almost 2am and Carson is at my parent's and some reason I woke up an hour ago wide awake....

I think I forgot to tell you, on the 1st my sister checked into a 90-day rehab in Destin, FL. It's on the beach, sounds really fabulous actually heh heh. She hasn't been doing drugs lately, well besides Rx, but they Rx her the things she abused so I don't understand that... but it's a dual diagnostic, also addresses mental problems. She's been in a bad place and cutting very bad lately. I always thought after her small rehab stays she should go to a sober living house, instead of going right back to her lifestyle, so hopefully this will be helpful that she's going to be in a good environment for 3 months instead of 7-10 days.

Morning girls~

LOL, I wonder who got the text? That is funny. I increased the cream cheese by 1/2, added a bit more sugar and vanilla. I THINK it was a hit, haha. I didn't have any again. The last 4 or 5 batches I made, I didn't have any. I think cause I lick the fork and spatula, so I have my taste that way. BUT EVERYONE LOVED IT! There were 3 EVIL virgins who are now officially hooked!

We are up early today and going to the parade! Then home to chill, grade papers (Walden papers again :smile2:) and watch football!

HAVE A GREAT DAY GIRLS!

Well here it is Sunday! I got an extra hours sleep, and I am off. I am happy!!!

We had a really nice family dinner last night, I wish we would have gotten a family pic. My BIL did take a few random shots, but that was it.

Enjoying the rare lazy Sunday!

We've lived here for 12 years, and did something for the first time today -- went to the fire hall breakfast! It was packed! And yummy! We chatted w/nice old folks @ our table. They say it's the first Sunday of each month... who knew?

Made a batch of corn chowder & cinnamon buns... odd combo, but there you are.

Otherwise, just this & that... nothing I HAVE to do... sitting by the fire, making lists, reading the paper, sipping coffee, watching football, knitting... LOVE IT!!!

Kids had NO activities today! :)

I love the extra hour time change... but we get hungry for dinner & tired for bed too early! Funny.

Pam, your weekend sounded fun!

Janie, wow, congrats to your mom & dad!

Judy, HAVE FUN!

Laura, good for her! Best wishes.

Hi Haydee!!

Time to go have a "hand check" on ds & his gf... they're in the playroom watching a movie... uh huh... :smile2:

Judy, Bon Voyage and safe travels!

Laura, I think that is great about L! This may be exactly what she needs. I'll send some purple power and positive energy her way.

Jane, glad you are enjoying your well deserved day off...what'cha gonna see?

Michelle, your meal combo sounds good, really! Enjoy your lazy Sunday!

I just finished Room...what a great read! Judy, what did you think about Freedom? I just downloaded The Corrections by the same author, Jonathan Franzen.

Anyone got some good book suggestions?

Well, I didn't end up going to a movie, Laura had a wake she had to go to, so we just did dinner. Was kind of looking forward to a movie today, but no real big deal.

I went to the store and bought a new vacuum, and various household goods. Not real exciting, but something I needed to do, so the day wasn't wasted.

I hope everyone is having a good day.

Michelle, how is your sons leg? What about yours?

Laura that is good about your sister, I hope it really helps and makes her better!!

No books here, I haven't read since I have worked these two jobs. How did the pride day go Pamela?

Four days post surgery. I am sipping as fast as I can and getting NO WHERE near the goal of 60 - 80 grams of protein or the 64 oz of liquids. I just feel FULL. I don't know if it can still be the gas build up (I would think by now that would be gone) but it is a struggle to drink. And so far I have not had the nausea or spasms and don't want to wander into that territory by pushing too hard with liquids. I about passed out today as it was my most "strenuous" day. Went from second story to basement for shower and I was sure I was going to pass out. Looking back on my last few days I have had a total of less than 1000 calories. Am I just not getting enough nourishment in me? Once again a friday where I can't get ahold of the doc until Monday rolls back around so I am hoping maybe someone here has some experience on how to keep energy going. I do have fibromyalgia too and that may be where some added fatigue comes into play. How did you all fair with the goals the week after surgery?

2 days until I fly out to San Diego to have my Bypass Surg. in Tiajuana Mexico. Not gonna lie, the nerves are starting to surface. I don't fear the surgery itself, or the fact that I'm traveling alone, but its the aftermath that I'm stressing about the most, after this 8 week wait. I'm excited to finally be here, but I am really dreading the post surgical chapter. I know its going to be tough, real tough and I think I'm just in my head to much now that the day i here. Wish me luck, Hopefully I'm one of the lucky ones, and everything goes smoothly. Cant wait to give an exciting update,. If there is anyone else have a June bypass or even a recent one, Id love to have someone to compare war stories with. Also, anyone near San Antonio Tx? See ya soon with the future me. 💜

I'm in Houston so kind of near you and had the sleeve in Dec. Down 61 lbs. Feeling better. Was definitely worth it. I hope the everything is going well for you. Update us when you can!

I am back home after my bypass surgery in Tiajuana. I'm post op day 4. Everything went great! I guess I'm one of the lucky ones who have not encountered much pain at all, no nausea thus far and I'm having no problem keeping down broths and water. Thank you for your well wishes. I cant wait to keep up this journey and have a chance at better health and simply better quality of life. I know there will be bumps in the road ahead, and everything won't be peaches and cream, but at least I have a great start so far. 😍

I am new here today... and only two weeks out from my sleeve surgery on the 23rd. I am amazed I have kept my calories down to 467 today so far... that leaves me almost 750 left for dinner and maybe a snack. This is going to be tough for two weeks... but I have to believe I can do it!

Hey everyone. I'm new here so I thought I should introduce myself. I am 53y/o and am scheduled for Gastric Bypass on June 25th, 2025. I'm located in San Antonio, Texas. I will be having my surgery in Tiajuana Mexico. I've wanted this for years, but I always had insurance where bariatric procedures were excluded. Finally I am able to afford to pay out of pocket.  I can't wait to get started, and I hope I'm prepared for the initial period of "hell". I know what I have signed up for, but I'm sure the good to come will out way the temporary period of discomfort and feelings of regret. I'd love to find people to talk to who have been through the same procedure or experience before. So I look forward to meeting you all. Hope you have a great week!

I'm so happy for you! You are about to change your life. I was so glad to get the sleeve done in Dec. I didn't have feelings of regret overall. And I'm down almost 60 lbs. I do feel a little sad at restaurants. I can barely eat half a kid's meal. I get adults meals often because kid ones don't have the same offerings at times. Then I feel obligated to eat on that until it's gone and that can be days. So the restaurant thing isn't great for me. All the rest is fine by me! I love feeling full with very little. I do wish I could drink when eating. And will sip at the end. Just a strong habit to stop. But I'm working on it! You will do fine! Just keep focused on your desire to be different. Not better or worse. But different. I am happy both ways but my low back doesn't like me that heavy. So I listened (also my feet!). LOL! Update us on your journey! I'm not far from you. I'm in Houston. Good luck and I hope it all goes smoothly! Would love to see pics of the town you go to for this. I've never been there. Neat you will be traveling for this! Enjoy the journey. Take it one day at a time. Sometimes a few hours at a time. Follow all recommendations as best you can. 💗

      2. Doughgurl

Thank you so much for your well wishes. I am hoping that everything goes easy for me as well. We don't eat out much as it is, so it wont be too bad in that department. Thankfully. Also, I hear you regarding your back and feet!! I'd like to add knees to the list. Killing me as we speak! I'm only 5' so the weight has to go. Too short to carry all this weight. Menopause really did a doosey on me. (😶lol) My daughter also lives in Houston. with her Husband and my 5 grand-littles. I grew up in Beaumont, so I know Houston well, I will be sure to keep in touch and update you on my journey. I may need some advice in the future, or just motivation. Thank You so much for reaching out, I was hoping to connect with someone in the community. I really appreciate it. 💜
