Entering uncharted terroritory

Recommended Posts

Hi lapbandtalk community,

I was banded yesterday (3-25-2010) in Tijuana, Mexico. I've been looking through these forums for about three months but did not want to start posting until after I got banded.

I have been battling obesity since age 5. I lost nearly 80 lbs at around 19-20 years old and gained it all back within two years.

I remember slowly watching my weight surge past 200 lbs to 300 lbs and up to 317 as of my liquid pre-op diet.

I'm 25 years old, I knew that unless I did something a little more drastic it would not be long before my watched my weight approach 400 lbs or higher.

I decided to get banded because I wanted to take my weight into my own hands.

I look forward to participating on this forum.

Hi and welcome to being banded. You have chosen an excellant age to have this done. You will still be young once all your excess weight is gone and you can enjoy a full and active life. Well done.

I was banded on 22nd March and doing well so far. I have found this site invaluable for information, support and encouragement. Hopefully you will too. Take care,

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!

Well, tomorrow I go in for an impromptu hiatal hernia repair after ending up in the ER over the weekend because I couldn't get food down and water was moving at a trickle... I've been having these symptoms on and off for a few weeks but Sunday was the worst by far and came with chest pain and trouble breathing. The ER PA thinks it is just esophagitis and that the surgeon and radiologist are wrong. But the bariatric surgeon swears it is a hernia, possibly a sliding one based on my symptoms. So he fit me into his schedule this week to repair it! I hope he's right and this sorts it out. He's going to do a scope afterwards to be sure there is nothing wrong with the esophagus. Here's hoping it all goes well!!
