Anybody at least 6 months post op and regret their sleeve?
EJStorm posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Anybody? I know it can be really rough for some in those first few weeks and I want to give them some hope. Also, did you struggle early on but love it now? I'm 4 months out and was terribly exhausted for at least 10 weeks, which I didn't expect, but I'm 101 pounds down and would do it again in a heartbeat. -
Just had surgery on the 11th...I am on 2 week clear liquids diet...to avoid dehydration, what are some typical daily meal plans. Because I'm not hungry, I'm not sure if I'm eating enough.

So when did you start working out?
healthyliving23 replied to Lovelyladybee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was told not to do any exercise until 6 weeks post op to try and prevent things like hernias etc. Surgeon said it takes that amount of time to heal and like others said, energy levels will be very low for 2-3 months. Take it easy. A friend of mine exercised too early, and ended up injuring herself making the process that much more frustrating. Good luck! -
So I'm about 7 weeks out of surgery and overnight I dropped a couple of pounds after having been stalled for 2 weeks. Today I've been ravenously hungry! So hungry that I feel actually physically sick from it. Granted I ran out of my protein drink yesterday so today I haven't gotten as much protein as normal...but has this happened to anybody else? Is it because my metabolism has jump started again? Is it because I lost 3 lbs overnight? I'm now slightly freaking out that my stomach is going to stretch out. Or that I'm going to always be hungry now! Why am I so hungry?!?

Why Am I So Hungry? Freaking Out!
Mews replied to Lyra's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I get this all the time and I'm over three months post op. I'm on PPIs, drink plenty of water, etc. Even my doctor can't explain why I'm getting this. Never had it before surgery either. I've gotten to the point where I eat every hour or two just to hold that awful pain off for a bit longer. -
I'm 2 weeks post op and I just don't want to eat. Nothing seems good to me and I'm never hungry. I know this is bad! Any ideas?

1 Wk Post-Op In 1 Hour, What Are Some Important Questions To Ask?
OldMomOf3 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have my 1 week post-op apt today and I'm wondering if anyone has thoughts about the questions I should be sure to ask or the issues we should be sure to cover. Personally, my 3 concerns are: -what can I eat next? hahahahaha -what's with these stitches sticking out of my incisions (were supposed to be all inside, so what to do about them - they are pokey) -PORT PAIN! But what else do we need to cover?????? -
Immediate post surgery must haves?
equestriansue@gmail.com replied to JenD's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 9 weeks post. Some of the protein drinks that sat well with me where, Isopure grape flavored, comes bought it at GNC, Premeir protein shakes chocolate, Unjury chicken soup flavored, chike coffee flavored, you can get on Amazon. It mix with water, I used Sobee water. It was tasted too sweet to drink alone. I love Crystal light but the lemonade flavors were too acidic. The fruit punch flavor was good. It's hard because things taste a little different after surgery. -
Work Travel - weight fluctuations (blah!)
Stacy_wls posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi everyone! I just started back at work. My work generally required me to travel 4 days a week and typically work very long hours. This makes eating right and exercising more of a challenge. Yesterday as I was on my way back home, I was feeling great. My project is interesting and going great! I worked out everyday - found a yoga and spinning studio that I could drop in at. I ate well - with one not so fantastic, but not horrible meal out with the client and supplier. So I was just feeling like I had this - I could do it. This morning when I weight myself, I was up 1.2 lbs. It is so frustrating! The weight loss had already been slowing down, so I was hoping for a good drop. Could this be Water retention from the airline travel? I know this is normal and if I keep doing everything I should then things will move. But ahh! It is a mind f*!k. I hope everyone has a great Friday. thanks for listening. -
Seasoned lady grateful for this opportunity to live..

No date yet. All my paperwork is in. I have my endoscopy in two weeks and then meeting with surgery. My paperwork would be ready for submission on April 1st, so hoping not to long after. I'm curious to meet someone with experience with Tampa general and find out how long it takes to scheduled for surgery once the insurance approves. -

Calorie Cycling: An NSV for me!
NMJG replied to gamergirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes, your chart is similar to mine. I set my goal for 800 but rarely even come close. I have noticed that this last week (week 5) my avg calories have gone up from 500 a day to around 650 a day. I can eat more things now, but still can't get in veggies or carbs other than an occasional tiny bite at the end of my protein. -
1500 mg calcium citrate and 2 bariatric vitamins a day. B12 once a week. Oh vitamin D 4000 units a day. Not bad I think. I already took calcium and a vitamin daily before surgery.

Can't I just Move on?
feedyoureye replied to optasia's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The first 6 weeks most surgeons order us not to lift anything over 10 lbs, and such.... You need to walk and make sure you don't dehydrate. Not doing these things can land you back in the hospital. Of course you are fragile for a while after surgery... thats just normal to be cautious for a short while until complete recovery. At 6 weeks I feel great and ready to really engage with all that life hands me. -
All Food Still Looks Good.
ButterflyGirl replied to 1Bumblebee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there! I just started week 3 on Sunday (blended food) and I can eat a lot less than I can jello or protein shakes!!! I was surprised also when I noticed that I could drink more than a couple of sips, but now that I'm on the creams it's a lot less!!! You just know your full and stop because you have to. As far as wanting other people's food, I'm right there with you!!! I want it in my mouth even thought I don't really feel hungry. Everything smells great, but eventually we'll be able to eat everything even if its just one bite!!! -
Soft food vs Pureed foods
weigh-in replied to weigh-in's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
On the hand out from the dr it just stated at 1 week post op begin soft foods of scrambled eggs, any kind of cheese except cream cheese, yogurt, plain, cottage cheese and refried beans. Then it states to be on the soft foods for 3 weeks, then to move on to introducing real foods, one at a time, into my diet. -
I have had this pain a few times and Saturday night it happened and I threw up after an hour and a half of walking the floors of my house. First time throwing up since surgery on April 2. Then the pain came back and threw up an hour later too. Went to my dr on Monday and he is going to do a scope to see what is going on. Said scarring could be causing a stricture. Did fine first 5 weeks and then all of a sudden, food and sometimes even drinks causes that pain...like it is stuck and has no where to go. Hope you feel better soon.

I know this probably seems nuts, but I am looking for some reassurance. I was sleeved on 9/23 and by 1 week post-op I was down 10 pounds. (I had lost an additional 25 pounds prior to surgery.) In the past week the scale has not moved and I am freaking out a little. I am eating what I am supposed to (puréed foods and protein shakes) and exercising almost every day, though not as hard I I was pre-op as the incisions are still a bit sore. I read about other people who the weight just seems to be falling off and worry, even though we are all different, I know. Any words of wisdom or reassurance? I am thinking about not weighing every day.

Nervous about slow weight loss
DonRodolfo replied to IpswichPav's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm going to tell you what one of my surgeons told me at my last visit. If in a 6-week period of time you have not lost any weight or have gained weight and your measurements aren't moving or are getting bigger THEN you can say you're having issues. Our weight fluctuates too much from day to day to declare failure any sooner than 6 weeks. I weight myself every day but only consider the Friday weigh-in the official one. My weight doesn't always do what I want it to but I can sure see it in how loosely my clothes fit. -
I have to get dressed tomorrow ????
AvaFern replied to cindyw41's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I wore flowy, loose skirts to work the first week I was back with cotton, soft leggings underneath. I didn't like my stomach being totally free, and the soft leggings over my incisions made me feel better. The skirt made me look like a professional, lol, and no one could see the leggings underneath. I wore flowy, loose skirts to work the first week I was back with cotton, soft leggings underneath. My First Upset Stomach Episode

I was told 2 to 4 oz, stop when you're not hungry. I was also told that Fluid was allowed as long as I included it in the 2 to 4 oz. I couldn't do grits till 2 weeks out, though. I still don't know that I would try them at a month. -

catwoman7 replied to Arabesque's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm three lbs over it right now! (and dying - I HATE THIS!!! But I'm working on it...). Last summer I was consistently about 5 lbs under it because I was out all the time (biking or whatever) - but I'd say maybe two or three times since then (??). Holiday periods and winter in general are a bit tough. This is the highest I can remember being over it - it's usually just a pound or so. -
Not feeling full or even hungry
Rastafas replied to lucykh3434's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am three days post-op and I feel like I am starving! I think I had read somewhere that the gas (which is pretty awful) can mimic the hunger pangs. I am trying very hard to follow post-op directives. Any advice? I have no problem drinking the 6 oz Protein shakes. I have had 2 today. Off-times I have Water. I had broth for dinner.
