wierd stomach sounds?
mjbf replied to dontgoggilme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My stomach starts the rumbling and gurgling only at night! And it's LOUD! It is so wierd! I am 10 weeks post-op. Glad to know I'm not the only one! -
All I did for the first 2 weeks was walk around the house. After that I was back to work where I am on my feet a lot. I would just tone it down a bit. Your body may still need time to heal. Keep exercising by all means, but maybe just try 30 minutes of moderate walking at first and gradually build up to more. Good luck!

Talking about what comes out the other end
TwinsMama replied to Brighteyes's topic in The Gals' Room
It will be beneficial post-op for you to take something if you have probs pre-op. The only real variance will be when the Dr okays you to start them. Most Drs do agree that we may need some fiber help post-op. I've been fortunate that I'm still very regular post-op as pre-op. It was harder initially but now at 11 weeks. I'm back to pooping at least once each day. Pre-op I went after every meal. -

How much protein is everyone getting in stage 2?
QweenNique posted a topic in Post-op Diets and Questions
Hello I just recently had surgery on April 9th and when my doc came in the next day he told me not to worry about the high Protein intake the nutritionist guidelines says or just focus on full liquid for three weeks. I know he knows I don't like Protein shakes or powders and don't want me to get burnt out but is anybody actually able to take in the 60+ grams a day? If so is it strictly through powder added into everything? -
It sounds like we are in simialr places. I was banded the 29th also. My starting was 238, and I was 226 at my 1 week follow up on 1/6. My goal is 160. Its nice to know there is someone out there who was banded the same time as me.

Doctor's Appt July 5Th---Nervous!
DeAna N replied to PeaceLove&Tash's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
no I haven't been approved my nutrition class was okay I learned a lot I was relieved that my pre-op diet allows me to have one meal a day so i am researching Protein shakes this weekend I want to find one that I like since that will be a large part of my meals the first few weeks after surgery. I changed my Psych exam to an earlier date so if my Insurance approves quickly I might even have it done in July we shall see -
@cjark220, I have Aetna and as long as you have done everything they required the approval time is less than a week. I just got in the mail an approval for surgery on the 28th but we changed my date to the 11th. As long as I pass a nicotine test. They only gave me 1 week notice. I had my band on July 14th. And I've already failed with what my nutritionist told me. She was a brand new nutritionist (to this hospital) and I met the girl who was having the band a couple of days after me and we were told completely different things as she had the old nutritionist. I went onto solid but very soft foods in week two as I just knew in myself I'd be fine! And I have been I've got stuck once but that was my own fault and forgot and shoved in another mouthful when I was already full. Before I met the nutritionist the main bariatric nurse said they like people to move onto solids at the rate that the person feels comfortable with whether that's fast or flow! And the nutritionist said 4-5 weeks, stuff that!!!! I also find it so hard to stop at this 'comfortably satisfied point' and instead I end up so full I'm uncomfortable. It's hard to get my head around being full after eating so little and I guess that comes in time! But I'm definitely able to be probably a cup and a half-2 which annoys me. I haven't had a fill and I've only lost 6.5lbs since surgery as I gained a pound and a half at one point but I lost it again. I'm just so frustrated and feel like I'm failing and my band is failing. I had and still do have such high hopes for it. I know people lose weight at different rates but I can't help thinking I'm just not doing as well as I should be!! Although I do compare myself to the people who had similar surgery dates to me and who followed their nutritionists plan and are still on Mushies. Sorry for the rant but if anyone has any advice I'd be so great full!!! X

I am have difficulties but mine are bypass-related and only semi-common, odd thing is my friend Ellie123 in Texas and me , here in Central Ohio have the same problem, I am hoping her dilation worked yesterday and then mine works a week from Friday and we will both be Brand New Women and can face the future!😛❤😃 -

I know exactly what you're talking about. My passion and goal was to become a chef. Senior year in high school my grandmother fell ill and I chose (and don't regret) staying local to be with her. Life took different turns than I thought it would and took me away from culinary professionally. I love food. Good is everywhere and seems to be involved with everything we do. dinner with friends, parties, cookouts...it's the focus of everything. I'm only 5 weeks out but I view food differently than before. I was so worried about missing out of being with people and doing things that I too was like should I do this and how will it be after? I eat to live now vs living to eat. I am able to cook now and it's fun finding different healthier ways to cook things I love. Yes it's changes but you can choose to make this change a positive one and embrace it. Don't let your love for food stop you from having the surgery units what you want. You can still love food, just in a different way. -
Hello everyone, I am scheduled for the surgery next week and the fear of the surgery/ complications is setting in? Anyone have any words of encouragement and is there anyone out there from Massachusetts. I think this forum will be a great support for me.

About a week for me but they were confused about my paper work. The Drs office sent two copies of the same thing. One was intended to precert the hospital stay and the other was for predetermination of the procedure. Once I called and got a manager on the phone they sorted it out and had my approval emailed to me right then. Just got my eobs last week for my March surgery and it was covered at 100%, couldn't be happier!

I proved to myself tonight that I am motivated with or without anyone joining me. What the heck am I talking about? Well, my husband who always joins me at the gym is away this weeked at a...horror convention in Indiana. Yes, I said a horror convention. People say men are boys, and I am here to tell you it is true. So after work, I went directly to the gym as we do every Friday night and I worked my butt off. Remember, while we have eachother, at the end of the day we have to depend on our eating, our exercise program, our fill schedule and our self-motivation. I hope you all have a great weekend. :smile2:

I'm so glad to see that I'm not the only one. I was beginning to worry. I was banded 7/6/09 and to date I've lost 15 lbs. I've been working out 3 -4 times a week and still nothing.
-
My stalls seemed to last 2 weeks. It has happened 3-4 times. Just remember not losing is also not gaining.

ok everyone- I was finally banded and my port is sorta in the middle! whew! It doesn't really hurt as much anymore- its been a week today! its funny though cause when I went to the clinic thats all I was thinking about asking the doc.... like it was a huge concern of mine.... but then the doc walked into my room- and OMG he was so damn cute I had forgot all of my concerns and questions, and just nodded my head and smiled! hehe... thanks everyone! ~Raynie!

Kaiser South San Francisco Dr. Robert Li
christysara replied to sarahisgreat's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
The process has been very easy. Went to orientation and then met with my surgeon on the same day. The surgeon gave me a goal weight to meet. 2 weeks later I met with the nurse practitioner and took the nutrition and life style classes. Now I am scheduled to have my psych evaluation next week.... you will get a lot of information at the orientation[emoji16] -
Man, I cant seem to keep up with these as much as I had hoped too. I am now almost 3 weeks post op, feeling great, pain free and losing poundage on a regular basis. I still havent bought a scale, but clothes are fitting better and better everyday. I got lucky, I suppose, I went home the day after surgery and didnt have to take any pain meds after leaving the hospital, quite happy about that actually. So far its been really easy. Water goes down without a problem, food intake is simple, small, but simple. With my surgeon, we are able to move to a more normal diet in week 3, it's been a blessing for sure. Hoping that things progress as as easy as it has from here on out. Down 28 lbs, lots to go!

Thanks for replying guys. I have heard "but your're not that big" once, this from a co-worker who had gastric bypass at 500 lbs., but after I told him my real weight (he was shocked) of almost 200 lbs., and the fact I was almost half that weight as a teenager (I have a very small frame that was clearly NOT built to be carrying 200 lbs). However, he totally supports me now and is even going to do my pre-op diet with me to jumpstart his weight loss which has stalled (I'm guessing at around 275). I remind everyone that I have gained 30 lbs in the past year despite working out 5 times a week and that I can wait but why wait until I'm morbidly obese? I've already got the health problems and told my family I want to see my son grow up...that helped them get on board. Shauna

I would say if you feel comfortable and its not too strenuous, or pulls any muscles or feels weird, go for it. I was cleared to walk/stretch right away, and most everything else at I think 8 weeks?

Post Surgery Needs for Out-of-State Surgery
Oregon Rose posted a topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi- I am wondering if the incisions will be sore? Will a bra, waist level panties, or elastic-waisted pajamas irritate the incisions or make my stomach sore? Advise is appreciated regarding what kind of clothes to bring. I will be staying in a hotel for a week after surgery. Any advise about what to bring beside a good book? Best wishes :smile1:
