PCOS, Sodium, and losing weight slowly
angriggs86 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've been trying out different support groups but find it hard to really get support. It's a lot of crazy judging and I'm just lost. I have a million questions. 1. Does PCOS slow your VSG weight loss? I am 10 weeks and 39 pounds down and each week I struggle to lose. Some weeks I don't other weeks I lose 2 pounds. 2. How much Sodium are we suppose to get each day? Actually how many carbs, fat, sugar, and Fiber? 3. Is there a such thing as too much splenda? 4. Is it too much if I workout everyday? 5. How many calories are good per day? 6. Is it normal to feel like everyday I'm so concerned with my weight now? Sent from my SM-G928P using the BariatricPal App -
4 weeks post-op troubles
Madam Reverie replied to melliratt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Allegedly and according to my Nutritionist, 7-10 day stall is totally normal at the 3-5 week stage. Mine lasted 2.5 weeks. Bounced around .02 and .07 of a kilo repeatedly. Don't freak.. Your break will come.. -
4 weeks post-op troubles
Mkak replied to melliratt's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sounds like a stall to me. I think I've seen every person on this board post about it at least once in their journey! I'm only 3 months out so I'm not the best to offer advice yet, but when I had my little blip I stopped weighing daily and switched to once a week. Definitely helped my head not get so crazy about small fluctuations. Are you getting in enough Water and Protein? Search "stall" on here and you'll find a zillion tips and pointers! -
Finally 6 weeks out! Now what to eat?
CanyonBaby replied to gmacy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I will be starting soft food this week, and my NUT suggests half protein, half carb on the plate. She says to try anything that is easy to digest, easy to chew, and to try lots of new things but to go slow in eating it. Give each new thing a little time before taking another bite, to see how it goes. Good luck to us!!! -

Chronic Headaches? Maybe vitamin related?
beachgurl84 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Has anyone experienced daily headaches after surgery? I'm 4.5 months post op. I take a Flintstones chewable Vitamin, VitronC Iron supplement, actigal (can't remember the exact name), protonix, D3, allegra, and zyrtec. I also get my Protein and fluids daily and around 1K calories. I had my surgery in another state so I can't see my surgeon but I do have an appointment with a new doc 4/13. Went ahead and set up that appointment because I know I'm due for blood work by 6 months post op. My blood work at 6 weeks post op was fine with D & Iron being low, which is normal for me. Just curious if anyone else has any experience or insight? I do exercise on average about 5 times a week varying between intense cardio and strength training. Not sure if all this info is relevant but better safe than sorry. Seems like every day for the last 2-3 weeks my head hurts. I think it's probably allergies because it's in the forehead/temple area and I have a history of chronic sinus issues and allergies but I'm worried it could be something with a vitamin or mineral deficiency. Any thoughts? -
Picture of my stomach after Roux-en-y
EvoXMr posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
AfterbThe 1st surgery, the doctor concluded that I had blockage inside my small intestine so they had to open my stomach to clear it. They had to insert 2 tubes and over 30 staples. After 1 week and 2 days of misery in the ICU and normal room I'm out of the hospital. Currently on stage 2, full liquid diet and lost 26LBS since the beginning of my surgery (March 16th). I get the staples taken out on the 7th and the last tube gets taken out early next month. So, this has not at all been an easy journey for me. I've been very weak and I feel dehydrated even tho I drink clear liquid alot! I'm going to my 2nd infusion Monday to help with my dehydration. If I could say I regret the surgery, I would say absolutely. How ever I've been very over weight and no matter the diet I couldn't loose anything, especially having the medical problems I suffer with. I wish you all good luck, I know I need it. Keep your head up and know there are and will always be someone there for you. God bless. °Engaged° Daddy of 1°•°•°•°•°•°•°•°•° -
What did your post op diet consist of for first few weeks?
Kate1973 replied to HollyRnOh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did full liquids for 1 week. I "ate" lots of broth, Boost, sf Jello, skim milk, sugar free Carnation Instant Breakfast, strained cream soups, very thinned out cream of wheat/Farina Hope that helps! -

Left middle side pain after surgery
No game replied to MississippiQueen's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Umm... about the third week mark a lot of us get pains from the internal stitches healing and pulling. It sounds like this may be what you are going through.. It hurts more with bending and twisting. Mine lasted a little over a week once it started hurting. If it gets worse though put a call into the doc! -
Curious If Anyone Experienced This...
Amanda61082 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have always had problems with constipation, but since my surgery, it has gotten worse. I took some Milk of Magnesia on Friday, and since then I can still taste it. Everytime I eat, it gets really intense and I get super nauseaus. I thought of acid reflux, but I am already on double dose of Prilosec, for potential aspiration causing breathing problems. I haven't had a fill yet, I am going next week for my next follow-up, but I have no idea whats going on. Any thoughts? -

I was taking small pills 1 day post op in the hospital, per my doctor. I had to find alternatives for bigger pills. Also, I already was taking liquid Vitamins, but I was told not to take them until after I had my one week follow up appointment with my surgeon. Sent from my iPad using the BariatricPal App -

Difficulty transitioning into puree, any advice pls.
Nikkinee replied to Blessed74's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm almost 5 weeks and I still can't eat a whole egg. I can pretty much eat anything (I'm on full foods now) but I feel full quickly which is normal. If it feels better to stay on liquids than that's ok. Don't move forward if your body isn't ready. And your team wouldn't/shouldn't progress you if you're not comfortable. One week and one day problems
mandylynncav2 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
But not regrets! I'm starting to have some serious back pain. I don't know if it's from carrying myself differently because of the pain or being in bed more. Or maybe from not being able to sleep on my tummy. Also nearly constant gas. Burping all the time. Any thoughts? Sent from my LG-M322 using BariatricPal mobile app -
eating too much? starting to get obsessive...
FishingNurse replied to allybenavides's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
don't focus on the volume of food you eat- focus on the content- that's what matters. To me I was sleeved so I could lose weight, keep it off and be healthy, I didn't get a sleeve so I could only eat a half a cup of food at once. As long as you keep your protein count where it is supposed to be, get your fluids and vitamins in, you are losing weight, feel good and are happy-- who cares if you can eat 3/4 of a chicken breast! Your calories per day are actually pretty low I wouldn't be concerned that you are eating too much at all. Have you thought about getting rid of your scale and only weighing at MD appointments? I don't have a scale. I weigh 3 times a week on the scale at work (I am a RN) it helps!! Oh, btw I'm 20+ months post op and eat 1800-2000 cals a day to maintain. I have been at my goal for more than a year. -

When I should I go back to my second job
DelawareWoman replied to DelawareWoman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'll talk to my dr at chrias when I go in on 2/20 for preop. I need to get forms signed too for short term disability and FMLA. I'm a little worried about starting back at both jobs after 2 weeks. I'm worried I wont be able to make it through working from 9 am to 1030 pm 3 days a week. My second job is being very understanding. I budgeted enough in my savings to take a month to month and a half off. We will see. -
Please help, considering removing band
Susan58 replied to Susan58's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
thanks everyone for the great words of wisdom. you have helped me much more than my doctor ever has. I am going to stick with it for a few more weeks. I am on liquids now and will move ahead slowly. I was doing so well, I hope I just was not paying attention and irritated the band and doing the liquids will help and get me back on track. I definitely am going to find another doctor. it seems like this clinic only wants to run the patients through like cattle, and you are a problem child if you have any kind of difficulties. thanks again!!!! I am so glad I have found this site!!
