What do YOU order at Starbucks?

First year out three shots of espresso on ice and 4 pumps of sugar free vanilla. I would then add a vanilla protein shake. Now Venti cold brew (black)

    just venting

Yes its the worst. After four or five days you will feel less hungry and just knuckle down and get on with it. I had three weeks. I just could not wait for it to end it is so boring. It felt like some cruel game some Doctor had conjured up just to make their day better. The diets are so random from doctor to doctor
  3. Hi yalllll, So I’m rlly just wondering if I’m fucking this surgery up 😞 I am able to eat a yogurt (6oz) in like 20 mins and I don’t feel gross after. My brother who also had the surgery two/three years ago is telling me I’m eating way too fast, but I don’t like understand how or what he means? He won’t rlly help me understand either 😞 I just don’t want this all to be in vain, I’m a worry wort as you can probably see but I have lost 12ish lbs and I wanna keep the momentum, and make sure I’m not doing anything dumb to jeopardize my success. Any input would be helpful! Xx
  4. May be it’s the type of carbs? From purée stage I was allowed carbs: rolled oats & vegetables (not potatoes), then fruit later on. So instead of saying ditch the carbs I should have said reduce the carbs & look for more nutritious complex carbs like in multi & whole grains (low processed), seeds & vegetables. If you’re able to eat bread & pasta on your plan look for the low carb, high protein & multi grain versions. And of course leave them to last when eating: protein first then vegetables & then carbs if you can. But maybe it’s a case of discovering what works for you and it may be reduced carbs or only complex high fibre carbs. Ketosis didn’t last for my whole weight loss phase, just in the beginning. (Thank goodness - those bad body odour, bad breath, keto flu, etc. side effects are awful.) You don’t have to be in ketosis to lose weight. That’s just one way. Continuing to be calorie deficient will enable you to lose weight. I haven’t eaten pasta, rice or bread since before my surgery three years ago. I go out often including to Italian & Japanese restaurants & haven't felt like I’m missing out yet by not eating rice or pasta. Plenty of other options on the menu. As for bread - I have 7 specialty bakeries & patisseries within a 2 km strolling radius of my home. Don’t feel I’m missing out with them either. It’s just how you look at it. But that’s me. You have to discover what works for you.

    Post op week 1

by light yogurt I'm guessing she means something like Dannon's Light & Fit (which you can get anywhere), Kroger's Carbmaster (at Kroger and Kroger affiliates), or the 100-calorie "protein Greek yogurt" that Aldi sells in a 4-pack. But there are others. There are others out there as well - but those three come to mind.

    6/6 Pre Op Liquid Diet

There seems to be no 'normal' when it comes to pre-op diets. Everybody seems to have a different one. Mine was two weeks of non-fat milk, 20oz, three times per day. Plus water..... Other people get meat and veggies. Most seem to get protein shakes.

    Caffeine

check with your clinic. Surgeons are literally all across the board with this. There seems to be no consensus at all. Some people are drinking it even before they leave the hospital. Other patients are told they can't ever have it again, for the rest of their lives. Most seem to be somewhere in the middle - as in it's OK after a certain amount of time (one month, or three months, or six months..) and/or in limited quantities (1-2 cups a day, for example).
  8. How do you stay focused? I'm struggling a bit the past three days.  All I want is sweets and carbs.  I have no clue what changed but for some reason I'm craving hard.  I'm literally dreaming about food and when I wake up, I'm thinking about my next meal.  I'm not "hungry" but so munchy.  I'm trying to stay focused, busy, exercise and the likes but this looking struggle is getting to be so hard.  I meet with my nutritionist tomorrow and I'm so hopeful she has some advice.  My protein intake is great, liquids on point, even throwing in some raw veggies and berries to curb the sweet/carb craving.  Thoughts?

    July 5th surgery

I was overwhelmed with the idea of supplements too but thankfully, my nutritionist gave me links to exactly what I need. I will basically take a 500mg calcium chew three times a day, a chewable vitamin D three times a day, a multivitamin chew once a day, and then 1000 mg B12 once per week. I plan to take the 3 times a day ones with my "meals". Then I'll do the calcium and vitamin d at bed time, and the B12 on Fridays. She really helped make that part of this process much easier. 😋
  10. Hello everyone. So glad I found this forum and I hope it's active because I don't really have anyone other than my surgeon, his nurse, and my nutritionist to ask questions of and they don't have time to be my BFF. Hahaha! My surgery was Friday, June 10th so I'm am on day 10. I feel much better than I did this time last week but dangggg I'm starrrrrving and I am so very over jello, Popsicles, broth, protein shakes, etc. Surely there has got to be something else with a bit more body that I could start to try to get my mini tummy ready for week three, which I'll only have two days to adapt to before returning to work, that will also keep me from feeling like I'm starving. I've been super duper strict and had hoped to do so the entire time but I'm actually concerned about other things because of lack of nutrition. I have been dealing with dizziness, lack of balance, minimal energy (which is highly irritating because I had cleaning plans to work on the two weeks I would be out of work) and just overall weak as all get out. I am getting lots of water, some jello, broth, and Popsicles, and I try to do two protein shakes a day so plenty of fluids, but how in the world can I find something to give me some energy that won't ruin what my nutritionist gave me in an eating plan? I know I am SICK to death of sweet stuff. Blegh! Haha! I have backyard chickens. Would it be bad to try a backyard Fresh scrambled egg and see how my mini tum tum handles it? If not, what other ideas do those of you who are more experienced have?
  11. I think it depends on what type of surgery you had and how you complicated it was for you or your body. In any case, it's important to speak with a doctor you trust and are sure will give you the best advice. I gave up almost three years ago on everything related to smoking and drugs, but before that, I always checked https://darkcatalog.com/asap-market/. They have a lot of pieces of information there about this field, and people often share their situations and results. Anyways, if you can stay far from them, this is the best decision you can make.
  12. Hi. First time poster 13 days out from ESG. The first week was super rough. I’m feeling pretty great now. I am down 12 pounds since the procedure. I’m consuming about 750 calories on average and I’m getting my 60-80 grams of protein. I have no idea how many calories I should be taking in. I am doing strenuous workouts three times a week (just started, I’m a week into it. Orange Theory for the win!). Would love some insights from the group!

    Robotic?

Mine was done via DaVinci Robot and i had minimal pain after surgery and really easy recovery. No stitches or staples outside, just some glue that fell off after a month. I didn’t need pain medication and i was able to return to work three days after.

    Working out after surgery

Yeah, I won’t lie, I’ve definitely started to slack at the gym. I used to go 5-6x/week. Now I’m lucky if I go three times. As soon as it’s “taken away” though, I know I’ll miss it instantly.

    Buyer remorse and emotional

yes - super common. I had buyers' remorse the first two or three weeks. No more! Best decision I ever made!
  16. I’m just three weeks post operation and have had one fainting spell. Is this normal?

    Tips for pre-op diet?

Find a protein shake or drink you really like. That makes things a lot easier. I found drinking water in between sips of the protein shake made me less nauseaous. Plan for light activity those first three days. I was moody, grumpy, tired, and achy.

    Second Month Stall?

So this kicks off month two post sleeve surgery and my weight loss has slowed down some. I had the three week stall; had a little movement last week and then nothing again. I havent changed much; the only thing I've added is veggies (zucchini, tomato, and mushrooms have been added back). PRotein is still the same, exercise is still the same or higher since now I can swim. I'm sure hormones are just f'ing with me, but is this common?

    Tips for pre-op diet?

The first three days are pretty awful. It gets easier after that. During those first three days, be constantly drinking anything that you are allowed to drink. And eat so many popsicles. You want to do everything you can to avoid feeling hungry.

    Multi vitamin

I've tried three different brands of vitamins, including a non-bariatric vitamin, and they all make me sick. I think it's me.
  21. I just got a sample from Walmart of a drink packet that says it has three times the electrolytes of water alone plus 5 essential vitamins. Just thinking that this may be something that is good for those early post op. Ask your doctor of course. Has anyone else heard of this or tried it??

    4 years & nauseous

I'm three years out and still get nauseous occasionally, but I can trace it directly to overeating or eating the wrong foods. I'm definitely not nauseous all the time. I second the suggestion that you go to a bariatric surgeon, since your original doctor was not one. "Get your information from the internet" does not seem like sound medical advice to me.

    I'm sad VERY SAD!

I completely understand the part about enjoying meals with your husband. One of the ways my spouse showed love was through cooking elaborate, delicious meals (which is a big part of the reason I got so big in the first place). I thought that would be taken away from us and would be a source of friction, but three years later we can enjoy a lovely meal together--but my portions are much smaller now! I will be honest--I had major regrets about having the surgery for the first four to six weeks. I know you said you don't want to hear it, but three years later I'm thrilled I did it, and my only regret is not having done it sooner.
  24. I’m sure catwoman will respond too but I am also on birth control so I figured I would chime in. My period was weird for about three months after surgery. I had spotting and longer, heavier periods from those few months. Then it went back to my pre surgery normal and has been ever since.

    I'm sad VERY SAD!

How long ago did you have surgery? If it's in the last month or so, what you're feeling is completely normal; many people have "buyer's remorse" after surgery. I sure did! I couldn't eat anything without pain and nothing tasted good for three months or so. By about 4 months out, I started to enjoy eating again. I can eat pretty much anything now at nine months out, though smaller portions. Which is exactly what I wanted. I could eat beef stew with rice (although, I'm not a fan of rice!). I just have to be careful not to eat junk food, which I can eat too much of too easily. This is a very hard process and I recommend you meet with a bariatric therapist. My family and I really enjoy going out to eat and trying new foods when we travel. We still do that, I just don't finish everything now. You will still be able to enjoy your husband's cooking. I think I appreciate food more now because I'm actually savoring it, not just inhaling it. I think it will get better for you.
