    Sweet spot

I also after six months finally felt my "SWEET SPOT" I didn't understand it myself till four days ago. I said okay that is what they are talking about. I eat three small meals now "FINALLY" it's a wonderful feeling when you feel your restrictions. It's worth the wait!

    Sweet spot

I've had 2 fills now and I get a third on Wednesday. It'll be 2 weeks this Wedn. since my last fill and I have lost 5.5 pounds. The first time between fill number 1 and 2 I lost 5. I think that's great. They were really impressed with my progress the last time. :cool2:
  3. I was allowed to shower the day after surgery and "encouraged" them to go away starting then! At my one week doctors appointment she gave me some small pads that were like Goo Gone for the skin they worked great. I'm not allergic, I just didn't like how yukky they were
  4. I am 3.5 months out and will say yes. If you want to lose weight and stay healthy, yes. But no it's not going to be "sip, sip, sip" forever. I was able to take pretty normal swigs by 4 weeks out, feels like it always did before.

    Help

I am new to site. I am very nervous because I got my lapband back in 2008 and in 2010 I had to move away from my surgeon. I had lost my medical insurance and could not afford to see another lapband specialist. I have insurance now and have an appointment for Thursday. I am so nervous none of the side effects were explained to me when I had the surgery. I was only told it was very non-invasive. Now I find all of these dangers and I am so scared. I do vomit occasionally. Maybe twice a week and don't have much restriction but have not had a fill since moved.

    8 days post surgery

Im a single mom also with a 7 year old girl. Anyway I was banded on the 17th and suppose to be on clear liquid for 1 week. I was starving so I called dr yesterday to see if I could add protein shakes and they said no. They told me they dont want your body to try to digest anything right now, they want it to heal. I'm the type unless you tell me why I dont listen, which I know is immature. So please listen so you dont have further problems. Good luck!

    The Begining of the End.

I love to blog.. So anyway.. this is the begining of my journey, I began sometime in December, I began by seeing my Dr, they said that I would require a 6month nutritional counseling, I would have to join a fitness club, have a physical and psych eval before my insurance would even consider banding me. The waiting game... :frown: I joined something called First Line Therapy, it was an out of pocket expense of $2000, as far as I was concerned it was well worth it. Come to find out 3 weeks later, that it's no longer a requirement of my insurance and I'm out the money!! Oh well, the way I see it... If I was told that I could have my surgery done ASAP as opposed to waiting 6 months and the cost would be 2grand.. I'd pay the 2 grand.. so I quit pouting. In the meantime.. I'm tracking down any and all medical records for the past 5 years for the purpose of needing documentation of my weight and any weight related problems for example; knee pain, back pain, sleep apnea, GERD etc... Next, I had a sleep study done, I had my suspicions that I had sleep apnea so I thought.. oh well, atleast the documentation would be there for insurance purposes so it was bitter sweet when I got my results.. I have sleep apnea YAY! I just got one more diagnosis for my insurance to consider my band... Oh hey wait.. I have sleep apnea.. that sucks.. that's a disease for fat people.. oh wait.. I'm fat.. that sucks more. Phooey. So my next step was the Psych eval, Loved my psychiatrist, she was awesome, I thought for sure I'd be in some dark room and she'd be interrogating me, but she was extremely supportive and gave me the thumbs up Yay! :tt1: Next my letter of Medical Necessity.. I researched and researched this, and found one website that had an excellent letter of medical necessity and added my twist (I've worked in the medical field since 1990) So here's what I did, my Dr's office was pretty clueless, God Bless them, but they just didn't know, all they wanted to do was send me with my medical records, so I typed up my own letter of medical necessity and took it to them, so My Dr put it on her letterhead and signed it, it was GREAT! The same day I took my letter to my Dr's office and all my medical records so that they could start my Prior Authorization from my insurance.. and then.. the waiting game.. :rolleyes2: Were my records going to be enough? I sent out an email to everyone on my address list and asked them to pray for me.. 10 days passed and I was getting antsy.. one of the girls I work with kept bugging me to call my Dr's office but I didn't wanna be a pest... I had already mentally told myself I wouldn't call until it had been 2 week.. UGH it was killing me!! So.. I nonchalantly called the insurance company instead.. and asked if they had EVEN received a request and they told me that I had been approved YAY YAY!! I was approved!! WOO HOO! I wanted to dance.. but couldn't dang it.. but I emailed my friend in the office and she came running to the back and gave me a big hug I wanted to cry and dance all at the same time! So now.. the preop appt is scheduled on 2/4/08 approximately 2 months after my journey began... I'm on my way to the begining of my new life.. and the end of my old one.. I can hardly wait! PS.. if anyone is interested in a copy of my letter of medical necessity.. you can email me here or at lrome314@yahoo.com! Take Care.. God Bless.. and GOOD LUCK fellow BandPeeps!

    I am now a Bandster!

I am looking very hard to try and find a new fill doc. It would be so much more convenient to stay in the states. BTW, I forgot to add two things to my original post. The first is that I would not recommend the pain meds in recovery if you don't really drink. They knocked me out for almost 6 hours (they gave me Nubain)! The meds that the nursing staff administered once I was in my room were much milder and were probably helpful in avoiding inflammation. Second, I got to see a tape of my surgery! The anethisiologist came into my room to check on me the afternoon after my morning surgery and he had 3 videotapes in his hand. I knew that Dr. Sanchez only had 3 surgeries scheduled for that date so I asked him if one of those tapes was of my surgery and it was! Anyway, My best friend (hubby stayed home with our daughter) watched the tape right before we went to sleep. Dr. Sanchez actually came to see me in the middle of viewing it and he narrated the whole deal! It was so cool (speaking as a nursing student here)! After seeing the tape, I am even more convinced that the surgery was the right decision as I had plenty of fatty deposits around my organs. Also, Dr. Sanchez is going to make a copy of the tape and mail it to me in a couple of weeks and I am going to try really hard to gross out my hubby with it . ~Lea 11/8 Dr. Sanchez 252/.../199 mini goal
  9. I will be having a LBL with Dr Quiroz on JAn 26, 09. I know of a fellow bandtser who just had it doen with him last week. Great results and care I think you will be happy with the results. Let me know when you go and how it goes.
  10. Three days post op unable to find a good position to sit or sleep in. haven't passed stool yet @@ssbills i had the same issues with sleeping/sitting (i think many/most of us do ) i always sleep on my side - can't sleep on my back i placed a pillow or two in a "safe/careful" spot on my side, and got SOME sleep the first few nights at home within a 2 week period it sllllllowly got better each night, til i was back to "NORMAL" gotta work thru the pain/discomfort as with everything else in sleeveland, this issue will pass so will your BM situation/problem!!! sorry, couldn't resist!!! bowel movements, constipation, diarrhea are a common/frequent problem here on the board as with everything else "we are all different" - i was very lucky, no problems give it a week, hopefully things will "move along" since you didn't mention otherwise, hopefully other things are ok wishing you continued speedy recovery sweet dreams kathy
  11. Yes and yes. At day 4 the surgical pain in my case subsided 50%. At week 3 the BM thing is still a mistery. I go for days without one. But at day 3 would would suggest to never trust a fart. You just dont know what might happen.
  12. Oh no! I wonder if the plain one has an after taste. Looking for more natural powders. I'm still pre op (2 more weeks) but I'm proactively searching for a good natural powder.
  13. Think about you too! I had to keep a timer at the table at first and time two-five minutes in between bites and 60 second chewing. It was annoying but worth it. Chew chew chew and do not reach for a drink. Also use a baby spoon/fork - it definitely helped me. If you still have problems then go back to yogurt and foods you can tolerate for a week and try again, as others have said already.

    New here.... A few questions.

The first week can suck. But I SWEAR it gets better and then great! Almost one month out and back to work and I feel like a new person who is almost twenty pounds lighter than surgery day. Reward though for missing boobs! In either case, my hardest thing now is the pre planning to make sure I have good food in the house and available at work. Protein first! Fluids fluids fluids! Best of luck to you!
  15. I am currently on week 3 post gastric sleeve op and tbh I'm not a massive fan of puree food so been sticking to milk and soup. I've been away for a week so excited to weigh and it was only 1lb yet hardly eating anything. Could not eating enough cause weight loss to slow down? (Lost 26lbs prior) Sent from my SM-G925F using Tapatalk
  16. I was not able to really eat anything (except yogurt and over easy eggs) for almost 8 weeks- it's different for everyone, but just because you are cleared for pureed/soft foods doesn't mean they will go down easy. If it doesn't go well the first time, try again the next week. I literally woke up at 8 weeks able to eat pretty much anything and MUCH more of it- I can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing
  17. Since every practice is different, I'm wondering how much protein you were told you need after surgery. My surgeon says 60 to 80 grams per day. I am 2 weeks post op, and I'm not getting nearly that much. I know we're supposed to focus on water first, and I'm doing fine with that. I just about can't stand the protein shakes, so I got some protein shots and they are even worse but at least there isn't as much to drink. I've started eating high protein foods on the puree stage, like ricotta cheese and things like that. What is your track for getting in protein?
  18. Lots of people gain weight immediately after surgery due to fluids given during surgery and swelling. Stay off the scale for a few days. It will all come off (though know now that most encounter a stall at 3 weeks after the immediate drop during the 2nd week). And please don't take bites of anything right now. Your stomach is healing and you could really do damage to yourself. This isn't just about 'will power'. Think of it as having your arm in a sling after shoulder surgery and not being able to go out and toss a baseball around. You have to let your stomach heal. There is a reason for the liquid diet at this stage. As for your boyfriend, please please tell him to stop with the tempting. That is completely unfair and could be detrimental to your health. If he doesn't stop, then kick him to the curb. Your health is the most important.
  19. Isn't that odd I had 2 weeks of liquids only. I was not allowed yogurt or cottage cheese until week 4. I find even now 17 weeks post op there are many times I can't even finish 1/2 cup of cottage cheese or a cup of yogurt.
  20. I'm two weeks post op vsg. I had horrendous pain on my left, it wrapped around my Body, even into my neck. I'm literally in a hospital bed right now being treated for a blood clot in my lung. Yours could just be healing, but I suggest you go see a doc. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App
  21. I'm with you! I'm 5 weeks post op and have been stalled for over a week. Down 53 pounds with preop.. so I guess 53 pounds in 7 weeks isn't horrid..I am still doing my thing and sticking with it. I also put the scale in the closet today..I think I'm getting too focused on it. I have faith in all of us!
  22. You are fine! It takes a long time of bad eating habits to stretch your pouch and you sound like you are doing just fine! Remember if you had the sleeve it is the size of a small banana and can hold what you ate...I am 3 weeks out and struggling with no hunger and getting food in so I congratulate you!! If you over eat believe me your pouch will be telling you! Sent from my SM-N920P using the BariatricPal App
