3 month Post Op Check
michelle_e2006 replied to michelle_e2006's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
It's weird, every time I "exercise" even just a quick walking the dog around the block, the next day I dropped 2lbs. The days I don't exercise, I completely stall. If only it were that simple before surgery, right?! I don't drink anything but Water and diet snapple when I want something different. I also keep to the minimal rule of 64oz of water/64grams of Protein daily my surgeon told me. Other than that I'm not doing anything special. -
Can you eat cream of wheat on week 1?

When I moved 3 years ago I gave away all my thin clothes and everything in between. Most of the stuff I have now is from when I was 100 heavier. I work from home so I do'nt have to dress for work. Occationally I get desprate and buy a new shirt. I did go to the mall the other day to try on some things. I have been at a plateau for a while and wanted to see if I had lost any inches (since all my clothes are way to big I would never notice). I had gone done a size in pants and perhaps one on the top.

Mine looked pretty much like yours. I had one bigger incision that had quite a bit of bruising around it, and it took almost 4 weeks for that bruise to go away completely. I think it is normal.

Banded 5/29/12 - Progression?
Scooby_Who replied to Missy05.29.12's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi there - I was banded 5/30 and on full liquids for a few more days. Here's what I'm allowed to have: Protein shakes (at least 2, up to 4) SF popsicles SF Jello skim milk 4 oz of light OJ, prune juice, or V8 juice broth "strained soups" with "no particles" - I have interpreted this to mean tomato soup, pacific brand creamy tomato, V8 brand potato and leek soup, and campbell's broccoli cheddar, which I emulsified with a hand-held blender. My instructions say the soups should have no meat. on day 9 post-op, I can add the following: creamy soups (still no meat or chunks) LF cottage cheese baby food pureed fruits and vegetables then 3 days after that comes the pureed/mushy phase - -
Stalking My insurance company..LOL!
bayareanan replied to Toohotfortv's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
My aetna approval took one week, and there was a holiday weekend in it. I was pleasantly surprised. -
So I went to go see the shrink yesterday. So not what i expected. I thought i was going to have the big lost of questions to answer as so many of you have. He literally asked me like 20 questions. Most of them were about my family history and he described some symptoms of depression and anxiety. He said i do exhibit anxiety sypmtoms (im not surprised since my mother suffers from this) but i am ok for the surgery. He didnt even ask me that many questions about the surgery which i was surprised at. So after about 40mins he sent me on my merry way and said he would fax the report... To tell the truth the shrink looked like he needed a shrink himself lol. ] At least its one more checkmark on my lists of testing! next up is weigh in #3 of 6 with my PCP on saturday!

good luck! I have weigh in # 3 of 3 on Monday.....hopefully the last think to check off my list of appointments

Mev2 replied to nursemeg89's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Doctor says 5 days prior but will likely start 1 week prior. -
A FB friend just posted this and it sounds wonderful. 1-cup of pineapple juice 1/2 cup packed brown sugar (I would use Splenda brown sugar) 1/3 cup light soy sauce 2 lbs. chicken tenderloins put in crock pot for 6-8 hours on low they should fall apart :rolleyes:this sounds like 8 meals for a LB person

I am 5 weeks post op. The surgery went well, I had minimal pain... now all of a sudden my incisions are itchy and red. All the glue already fell off. If showered to to see if it was dead skin build up and that did not help. Is this normal?

The count down is one. 1 week to pre-diet. Started getting everything on my list together. Like most, excited and nervous at the time. Question; how many of you told people outside of your very inner circle what you were doing? I have only told my Wife, Son and Mom. Even my Dad does not know yet. Not good at keeping secrets lol) I also told my long time very close friend that I was thinking about it but have not told he I have confirmed. I value his opinion and he was definitely leaning towards me not doing it. I am doing the right thing here by going through with it right?? Banded 3 days ago by Dr. Speigal in Houston
Nicole_031408 replied to Nicole_031408's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Tight and miserable, yes! But I am so excited to see that I've already lost 6 lbs. and whereas before I might be worried that I'd just gain the 6 lbs. right back, I know that this time those 6 lbs. are gone for good. I can't wait to keep losing! I found that yesterday I was really missing food. I'm not hungry whatsoever. I just miss chewing and the taste of food. These next two weeks will be interesting, to say the least. -

Hi. I am almost 3 weeks post op (sleeve) I am having a very hard time getting my vitamins in. What kind is everyone taking? I'm currently on Baritric Fusion, 1 chewable 4xs a day. I would rather have one I can swallow. Sent from my SM-G930T using BariatricPal mobile app

Post op diets vary significantly, it is always best to follow your surgeon's or dietian's guidelines. I had two weeks liquid then went onto pureed for a couple of weeks followed by a four weeks mnced/soft graduating to soft/normal in that four weeks. My dietician had on her list for pureed foods: high protein (low sugar) yoghurts, custard (I did this once only as I found it too sweet and triggered my sweet tooth), scrambled egg, cottage and ricotta cheese, sandwich style tuna (spreadable), blended soups and the like such as casseroles...but they had to be highly blended. Was also advised to supplement with protein drinks if needed.

Greeting & Salutations I'm really just starting out, My weigh in is the 31st of August & that starts my 3 month pre-op program. I'm in a pretty good state of mind but am very concerned about my Anti-Depressants. I take 525 mg of Effexor-XR a day for Borderline Personality Disorder, Yes I am a man & it's not like in Girl Interrupted that took place in the 60's, I get that all the time. What it means is that in general I absolutely loathe myself so my appearance usually changes a lot, hairstyle, clothing style, I've been a greaser, a punker, a goth & a cowboy & that was in my 30's. I'm soon to be 45 & after years of therapy & counseling I've reached a good place. If anyone else out there has been on Effexor you'll know that the withdrawal is brutal. I've heard that you need to come off of extended release medications, has anyone else gone through this? Going through the pre-op program seems tough enough without having to go through an anti-depressant change. Is it something you should do sooner rather than later? I have an appointment with my Psychiatrist but it isn't for a couple weeks so I'm stressing a little about it. Any insight would be helpful. Thanks!

Thanks for all the encouraging words I'm really praying I break this stall soon...

I am having trouble figuring out when I am full. I am just about three weeks out and I just started soft foods. I am eating about 3 onces a meal but I feel like I am overeating. I eat the 3 ounces but I keep feeling overly full like I ate to much and I get a weird feeling overly full and I have this indigestion feeling in my throat. Am I eating to fast? how do you know when you are full?
-
When I was that far out I could only eat about 2 oz at a time, so 3 oz might be a little too much. I agree that you need to eat a little more slowly and try to listen to your body - it will tell you when you're full!

Feel weird dining out
jellybean12 replied to jurisjitsu's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I go out to eat all the time. And usually take home about 2/3 to 3/4 of my meal. It doesn't bother me and mentally I'm calculating how much money I'm saving on meals since I get 2-4 meals out of anything I order (even better when someone else pays!) What cracks me up is when people who don't really know me comment "You're being so good". LOL -
Just wondering what work best for you? I'm swimming laps and also am walking/jogging six days a week for at least 60 minutes. What do you think worked best to tone your legs???
