151 but i think this may be what my body feels it's comfortable at, since its been this way for 4months now, I've been at 149 but it hasn't stuck, so sadly this may be my last challenge bc i don't want to turn this into another diet bc of what my doc says i should weigh, which is 140. I guess I'll c and take it one day at a time for now and maybe, maybe one more challenge of we have one... continued successes to u all n good luck!

So yesterday I had to leave work early because I almost blacked out. I felt weak, faint, a little dizzy, and just plain bad. I was so afraid of going back to the hospital that I left work early and just went home to lay down. This happened after lunch and I thought it was the Soup I ate (maybe it had too much fat or oil or something) anyway I go to work today and after I came back from break I started to have the same symptoms again! I was freaking out thinking this was way serious and ended up calling on of the surgeons on call. The guy I spoke with wasn't my surgeon but I gave him a run down of everything and he said since I didn't have a fever, abdominal pain, or diarrhea it was nothing to come to the ER for. He then suggested that because this has been happening after I ate at work and then resumed standing up(for the rest of my shift) he said either my blood sugar is very low or you may be dehydrated(But he ruled out dehydration because I had gotten in all my fluids). He suggested I drink a couple of ounces of apple juice which I promptly did and I felt a little better but the symptoms returned! I drank a little more and low and behold, my symptoms were gone and I felt good as new! I really hated this happening at work though, because my boss(the assistant manager, anyway) wanted to know my business(Only my manager knew I was out for surgery). She then commented on my weight loss and asked me if I had gastric bypass! Luckily someone else was there in the room and immediately shut them down. (It's none of their business, the point was I don't feel well and I wanted to call my doctor). I was thankful for the other woman thinking it would be completely ridiculous(Word at my job spreads like wildfire, they thrive on rumors). I then gave some BS VAGUE story about my esophagus and how I can only eat certain things so as not to irritate it. After about an hour and a half I was able to resume my work shift! I have never in my life had issues with my blood sugar. I wasn't even "pre-diabetic" pre-op. So just be careful fellow sleevers!

Am I going crazy?
CountryGirl5584 replied to Aspring424's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You're not crazy for being scared! It's a normal thing to feel especially bc big changes are going to be happening to your body! Think of it as a new beginning. My surgery is tomorrow and it's now just starting to hit me that people are going to be viewing me in a different light because I won't be fat anymore. -

I work out, run 5k but admitted I emotional eat at times.. Also said I have compliance problems... But as mom with kid with disabilities he comes first when it's needed and answered accordingly on test... Oh well -
Possible restart of diabetes meds
gobsmacked replied to gobsmacked's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
my fasting sugar this morning was 133, not great, but better than the 150-170 it's been lately. I ate very little yesterday, because I felt nausea most of the day. One thing I didn't do was have any protein water late in the evening. I sometimes would have 1 because I know I fell short of getting enought protein for the day and my thinking was, its carb and sugar free, so it should be ok. Well, I think it's not ok, and won't be having any in late afternoon or evening. I'm eager to see if that has a real impact on my BS levels. -
I feel unsupported... Can I do this by myself?
AvaFern replied to noorjenna's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
When I had my surgery, no one knew I had it done. I drove myself home from the hospital, I took care of myself completely after surgery, and I have never had a "support" network so to speak. My three best friends now know I had the surgery, but I didn't rely on them at all for any form of help. I also took care of myself entirely after both of my plastics procedures as well. You are only limited by yourself. You can absolutely do this alone. On another note, if that was my husband, let's just say no one would be making him dinner, washing his clothes, or making his life any easier for quite some time. A marriage is a partnership and if he is unwilling to be your partner, to hell with him- be your own partner. When you are thin, healthy, and hot...if he still doesn't feel like being the man you deserve, well then you can go get yourself a new one and rid yourself of your husband's little boy bs. Good luck! -
I will try again. Bc I never got a response from them. It's almost 2 mos since my surgery.

Is the pre op diet needed?
yogachick replied to chunkyloverlovesyou's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Surgery doesn't work for people with food addictions or binge habits? Wait... So it won't work for 99% of us? I have to call BS on that one. Most of us are here because of food addiction. -

Feb 16th- Surgery Day!
ABrandNewKae replied to ABrandNewKae's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Heyyy Everyone! ???? I'm Kaeley! So excited to have surgery buddies! Yayyy! The pre-op diet BLOWS! Lol You aren't being a downer @@jojo23 you are being honest! Lol I've been doing a lot of research about pre-surgical diets and have noticed that there are a lot of different rules to follow for everyone. Like, for mine, I'm supposed to have 4 shakes a day and only eat fresh raw veggies and take Metamucil everyday. Fiber overload. Gross. I'm almost done with week 1 (of 2 I'm such a baby lol) and by day 3, I was standing in front of my fridge at lunch time and literally burst into tears. I couldn't take chomping on another f'n carrot or choking down a handful of sugar snap peas. I have quickly discovered that one of the most important things to have during this whole bittersweet process is a solid support system! I whined to my mom about everything and she went with me to the grocery store to pick up some different veggies and different flavors of shakes, just to switch it up a bit. My Mom is also doing the pre-op diet with me, not that she needs to lose an ounce, but just to support me???? pretty amazing! I've been strict on myself, too about the diet because there is a reason why we need to do it and I don't want to have any diet slip to push back my surgery or anything like that. Know what I mean? However, lol I did push my boundaries a bit by eating a avocado mixed with fresh salsa for dinner (it's on the no list bc it's high in calories). I felt like a badass...lol It's been a life saver tho. The avocado gives that mouth feel (from the oil/fat maybe?) that satisfies me so I don't feel completely deprived lol maybe try that? I'm not a Dr tho, so do what you're supposed to do haha You don't like the shakes?? Bummer! I like them. They get boring drinking the same 4 a day for 14 days, so I bought sugar-free flavored syrups (like Torani, etc.) And add a teaspoon or 2 to a shake. It's kinda fun lol you have to be creative with this process. I use a blender with ice when I'm using the powder shakes to get it freezing cold and really smooth with no grit. Grit is gross lol I hope your headaches get better soon! ???? Are they from dropping caffeine from your diet?? I've heard that can happen. Are you getting sleeved now? Do they remove the band and do the sleeve at the same time? Cut yourself some slack. You've obviously worked your ass off up to this point because look where you are today! 10 days away from the beginning of your healthy new life! You should be proud of yourself! I'm not saying go out and celebrate with a case of pop and a big Mac (mmmmmmdroolmmmmm) haha! but when you are struggling remember how far you've come and how close you are! TEN MORE DAYS! @@VGB how many weeks have you done? How long do/did you have to do it? Any pointers to get thru week 2?? I'm super chatty lol I love having people to talk to about this stuff! Great to meet you guys! -
Need practical advice (long)
LaLoLaughs replied to amyecpa's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm 4.5 months out and I have to tell you, everything was harder at the beginning. I found it nearly impossible to get in all my Protein in in the first 2 weeks. I talked to my doctor at that time and he told me to concentrate on staying hydrated more than getting the protein in. Yes, I hit a wall on the third week, with a lack of energy, but it was too difficult to get the required amount of protein when you can eat so little at the beginning. It will get easier soon, so concentrate on getting enough Water for now. Also, I had the best luck with GENEPRO. It is as tasteless as I have found. It doesn't mix well in water, but blends in nearly undetectable in most other products. Finally, while i was still in the hospital, I was given liquid Prosource. I bought that on amazon when I got home bc that was the easiest way for me to get protein. I just added it to my water with a crystal light mix and it wasn't too bad. I think it was 15g of protein per 1 tbsp. Hope that helps. Lots of luck!! -
New Sleever Intro
GeminiSleever replied to GeminiSleever's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Thanks Vicki! I'm drinking Bariatric Advantage chocolate flavored. My nutritionist suggested that I try some protein shakes while I was going through the clearances and BA seemed to be the least foul tasting. I would put it in the blender with have a banana and 10oz of water, freeze for twenty minutes, and enjoy. And now I suddenly can't stomach the stuff. I bought unflavored whey protein to mix into my food once I hit the outer stage, but for now I am eating nothing Bc all of my "options" pretty much sicken me. Today my meal was one pickle. I'm trying to at least drink water and unflavored tea to compensate. -

Dr. Huizenga Comment on "Biggest Loser" Finale
FinallyFit50s replied to Susanjoyce392's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
There is a study on the recidivism-weight gain of participants on the show. I read it while I was doing research. One of the points made was that the contestants do 90 minutes of cardio a day with "suggested" times of up to 3 hours more. They are not fed a certain diet, and can choose what they eat. Before weigh-ins, many are dehydrated, etc. (like my WW weigh ins for sure;-( ) once off the ranch, they try to keep to these same measures to win. I don't know anyone who has an outside life of family, kids, dogs, jobs etc, who has time to work out 4 1/2 HOURS a day. Not to mention, it is near impossible to keep up. I used to watch the show and loved it, until I realized that like many of us, they lost all that weight to regain much of it. I do have my guilty pleasure of my 600 pound life... -
I'm two weeks post op. I had read to take pads with you to the hospital because of the trauma your body will go through. Glad I did - I spotted for several days. My surgeon had my take my BC pills still. Now 2 weeks later I forgot to take it 1x and I have my full blown period. All sounds pretty normal with WLS. Glad I have the pills because I'd go crazy if it lasted more than 5-7 days.

Day 10 Liquid diet....Five days til surgery....I cheated...
Christina44 posted a blog entry in Christina44's Blog
I think about surgery day. It's weird, but I worry more about surviving the surgery itself than the actual complications you can have from it....I feel guilty sometimes, like I could leave my kids motherless because I want to be thin again...but my nut told me I deserve this and death is rare...I have decided to believe her. I don't even want to worry about it. I push it to the back of my mind most days. Sometimes it comes creeping up though.... Also, I am worried about what I will be like coming out of anesthesia. Like, I guess we get either super chatty, tired, or cry...when I had my wisdom teeth out years ago I was told I cried...I hope I follow suit again lol....because I don't remember....I think it would be less embarassing to cry. I watch too many youtube videos lol....I cheated on my diet yesterday! I ate three Andes mint chocolates oh my and one today...I fed the rest to mykids so wouldnt be tempted...I have three kids so they each got like three a piece..... I was doing so well smh. I think it liquifies too and will be out of my system and not cause my liver to enlarge lol.....man I miss real food....but getting on the scale this morning and seeing 200.4 made me tear up. I am almost afraid to get on the scale tomorrow. Onederland is a huge milestone and to be under 200 is significant for me...I never imagined in a million years I would be over 200lbs.... or eat a whole box of mac and cheese in one sitting either but here I am lol....striving to be a better me -

How to keep your immune system strong during weight loss
Dr. Adeyeri posted a topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
No, it's not just you. This time of year, it seems like everyone is battling some kind of cough, flu or strange virus. If you have recently undergone weight loss surgery or are several months post-op, don't let these winter bugs pull you off track. Here are the tricks and tips I offer to my own bariatric patients here in New Jersey to stay healthy. Losing weight after bariatric surgery demands a lot from your body and mind. You are engaged in a completely new way of eating and daily living ─ it’s a big change. During this transformation, the last thing you want is to face a setback due to an acute illness such as flu, cold or other viral infection. Being ‘under the weather’ can also derail whatever exercise program you are engaged in ─ and that’s not good either. Those of us who work in hospitals know several tips and tricks to keep from getting sick by boosting our immune systems. I’d like to pass these ‘insider’ tools on to you: Get at least 7 hours of sleep every night, no matter what. Find ways to help lessen stress and do them every day. Stay hydrated; aim to drink 5 water bottles daily. Sweat it out. Keep moving and sweating at least 30 minutes daily. Wash your hands for a full minute, all the time. Eat foods rich in zinc, such as grass-fed beef, pumpkin seeds and spinach. Zinc stimulates your body to produce immune-boosting antibodies and overcome cold viruses. Add vitamin C-rich foods (I favor oranges and bell peppers) to your diet. Vitamin C stimulates the production of antibodies to help fight infections (and lessen cold symptoms such as a runny nose). Super-charge your gut with healthy bacteria just by eating Greek yogurt. Go ahead and eat the garlic ─ it’s a potent antiviral, anti-fungal and antibacterial weapon. Germs and sicknesses, in varying degrees, are out there right now ─ but that doesn’t mean you have to fall victim to them. Living a healthy lifestyle every day makes serious chronic diseases and common seasonal bugs less likely to take hold of you. Just like overcoming obesity, it’s another way to boost your quality of life, every single day. -

Have to say I've dropped about 40 pounds with the various new positions : and everything got bigger for me . 5' to 9 1/2 (no bs) no problems shaving either for her now. Much more confidence in the bedroom and mirror welcomed . Lmao actually caught myself posing. Another good reason to keep the weight off
