  1. A panni is the only thing Tricare will pay for and that's with tons of documentation. A MTF with plastics can be an option but there are few and very long wait lists. To be honest - as much as I'm appreciative for Tricare and MTF services - I would never trust them with my plastics. I want someone who I can see documented evidence and styles. I trust a civilian who's life revolves around plastics more so than a military doc. They each have their place but that's just my opinion. If I could never afford a full tummy tuck I'd settle for a panni bc the rashes and skin breakdown is very dangerous. That being said I'm saving every dime I can to get the full tummy tuck!
  2. I had a lifting restriction of 20 pounds for 3 weeks. I just had to adjust how I fed the horses and we didn't schedule any equine appointments or large dog surgeries until after those 3 weeks. I felt great and never had any issues. Like BLERDgirl, I would have been bored silly to stay home any longer than I did. (Well, maybe an extra week of healing in the tropics would have been nice ????)

I'm 3 days post op had GB 2/25. I came home yesterday. I'm trying to stay off the pain meds bc I feel super buzzed and can't concentrate. My pain has been ok. Was much better after they removed the drainage tube, I think it was on a nerve. So I am trying to focus more on getting my liquids in and my vitamins and mayb one protein shake. Only bc it all seems overwhelming and I can sip on a cup of plain coffee and get 10 oz in and switch to flavored water. My discharge nurse said focus on staying hydrated first. So that is my goal. I gained almost 10 pounds of fluid but I'm not worried about that. I will wait for my first dr appt in 10 days to figure out my weight loss.
  4. @@blashlee thanks for your input, and I am beginning to realize that she isn't really a friend. At least not any friend I want to have. I guess I'm out growing her, because I don't think I've ever liked her personality, and now I'm just fed up with it now.
  5. I keep reading this thread and saying im not going to get involved, but man, all I can say is, some people need to stop trying to "sell" their brand of BS on here its really irresponsible. By the way it could very well be construed as criminally negligent, and very libelous.
  6. hes def insecure..an he is scared at least it sounds that way to me an he's uneducated on this subject an pride. once he sees this working for you theres a very good chance he'll hop on board. I hate that your dealing with him an this mental an emotional struggle bc its hard enuff going thru the changes you will encounter. some ppl have no problem my first month Im going to tell ya it was brutal on me. I had some days of crying out of no where. I was dying for a pizza or a big juicry hamburger. but I got thru it. my surgeon told me the first months the roughest an it was for me. he said if you can get thru the first month you'll do great! it was right , for me. so please prepare yourself, you'v gone this far your on the right track an you have your mind set an your doing this for YOU! I sure hope it backs off. you might just have to tell him to just STOP an for him to do his loss his way an you will do yours your way. I have 2 dear friends are in their 300s an have been for 40 plus yrs...they enjoy their food(who doesnt right?) we all do! but he doesnt want to lose or change an he feeds her as well an so he keeps them so called "happy" that way. but I dont say anything its none of my business. when ppl decide on their own when to get healthy they'll do something about it. lord I wish I would have done this yrs ago! I am happy for you! keep us posted dear! hang in there! come here when you need to..

    Birth control post op

I went into the doctor a few weeks ago because I had not had a period since I stopped by BC pills before my surgery. Turns out I went through menopause sometime without even knowing it. Yay me!
  8. I feel ya! You should be super mad, I would too and it's only normal. After a day or two when you see a lighter shade of red, becuase you will prob still be upset just think about it a little more, but dont give up. Keep it moving, I'm sure it will work itself out. I had a situation about two weeks ago where I finished all the req. and had the paparwork submitted to have it kicked back due to BC having new 2015 requirements (requirements changed from 3 month weight monitoring to 6 month weight monitoring). I was origionally told that the new rules would go into effect until March, so I felt hopeless as well when I found out. I felt my body in a rage and I was in tears becuase it's one thing when you dissapoint yourself, but when someone else dissapoints you after you have done your part, that was the worst for me. So i hear ya but take a day or two then think about it, then do what's best for you.
  9. How exiting, our month will be here sooner than we know it! Of course I dont feel that way at the moment, but at this point I'm on cruise control. I've already been through the emotional roller coaster: I was origionally going to have surgery in March but BC changed their requirements in 2015 going from 3 months to 6 month weight check...everything happends for a reason and now i'm happy to be a May sleever especially since my Bday is in May.
  10. I'm not sure if I qualify as a success story yet but I do believe I experienced a life changing event. It took me years to pull the trigger on surgery. I've gained weighed steadily over the last 10 years despite doing what doctors had advised me to do. A myriad of reasons and overall giving up led me to where I was. Oct 7th I weighed in at 248lbs. As a 5'2 woman I was a size 20 comfortably. I realize now how in denial I was over where I had got too. Do you have that one picture that made you cry? I do. I never took any pics until my husband and I celebrated 10 yrs of marriage in Puerto Rico. This before picture was what made me get surgery a month later. The now pic is from today after playing in the snow with my girls. I'm not even at goal and unbelievably happy. Just thought I'd post the pics bc they were my motivation from others.

Back pain 9 days post op

I've had nothing but back pain, I've never had any pain in my abdomen only in my back. I'm 2wks post op (2/9) and my back pain has gotten better. I couldn't stand or walk for more than and hr bc my back would start killing me! The pain would radiate across the middle of my back, just below my shoulder blades. Sometimes when I'm hungry, I feel that same pain in my back, it's weird. I hope you feel better soon!

    UNITED HEALTHCARE PPO

I had UHC last year and went through the whole process but was denied bc they required a 5 year med history of obesity. I was missing a year and one year was deemed too low. Dr appealed and got it overturned (probably bc they had 8 year history with me being overweight. But it came through at the end of the year and my dr was on vacay. So did another submission to my new insurance in January Cigna- they denied it bc the surgeon, Nut and psych were over a year old 12/13. Appealed with new visit to the 3 of them and they overturned it. So I'm now scheduled for 3/16. I did gain a few lbs during the 6 mom supervised program ... But that wasn't why they denied it ...

    OCTOBER 2014

I was at work today and (I work with all guys in a warehouse environment) I've gotten a few "what are you doing? My wife is trying to lose weight" comments, but today our guy that doesn't speak much English from Ecuador came in my office to thank me for watching his kids at work for an hour when his girlfriend dropped them off. After much hand gesturing, he did the international sign for a curvy woman and smiled real big and said "¡Eres hermosa!" which someone told me is 'you're beautiful!' NSV! It was funny bc he's really shy.
  14. I was wondering if anyone has tried or researched if Thrive products by Le-Vel are safe to take after gastric sleeve surgery? Someone told me they contain large amounts of anti inflammatory, but they are suppose to be a good vitamin and nutritional benefit, I'm unsure bc it seems it's mostly mixed feelings about the product when I've searched online....please help:)
  15. Hey All- I'm just wondering if anyone has put on weight and then hit a stall. I go to the gym 4-5 times a week and am getting my protein and am sticking to about 1000 calories- but 2 weeks ago I got on the scale and had gained 5lbs, and haven't lost a thing since. I was going to go to f/u appt early bc I am freaking out a little, but I'm embarrassed- so before I do that I just want to know if this has happened to anyone and if there was something they did to fix it. Should I go back to liquids for a week? Has anyone done that?

New can anyone answer my question

I don't hesitate to call! I knew I was approved within 48 hrs of being submitted. in fact when I called my Ins (BC/BS) the nurse who read over my paperwork had just ok'ed an entered it in the system so when one of the agents I was talking to she looked it up an actually had to look else where an then she read it to me..I was so excited an on pins an needles I had to know I knew I wouldnt be able to sleep! I knew before Ins even faxed the approval code to my surgeons office. once the office recieved the fax I had picked my own date and was on the list in less then 2 wks. it will happen fast from here on out! BEST WISHES..
  18. Ooooh I want to try this! I like the idea of doing the cherries and then stirring in the vanilla bc I hate the froth
  19. So, I sat down and printed all the forms that the insurance requires to be filled out for my file. I printed all the forms that the Optum nurse requires. I printed all the forms that the surgeon requires. I have a binder filled with crap. I faxed off 10 pages today alone. I have 5 pages that have to be filled out and signed by my pcp at each visit, and then places those have to be faxed. My insurance advocate from Optum told me it was much faster and easier to get approval if the papers were filled out that the insurance provides. Luckily Scott & White now has a patient portal, so I can print my chart from each visit and put it in my awesome old lady binder. I put tabs for all my monthly paperwork, and tabs for all my craptastical forms, and tabs for all my informational research and bathroom reading.... I feel sorry for people that might not understand insurance or technology enough to take advantage of all these neato things that can facilitate the approval process. I actually feel good about this today, and more in control than I did. United Healthcare has been wonderful....now... to save for that 10% that I will have to pay... lol

    Stressed to the max !

Was banded at cibo clinic in 2012 , lost 50 pounds everything great ..then the clinic closes leaving everyone to fend for themselves unless I would like to pay an extra thousand dollars a year for care that my 18,000 dollars already paid for. They said drs. Anvari and Hong are still our drs. And if there's any issues they are there for us ...load of crap !!! I've been in constant pain for a little over a year ..no longer can I eat anything good for me ..only slider foods here because to eat anything else causes great pain. I have a 14 cc band with 8cc fill ..I have terrible left rib and shoulder pain , sinus issues , vomit all the time , feeling dizzy like vertigo , racing heart , but no one can find anything wrong ... I've tried numerous times as has my family Dr to get ahold of dr anvari ...no one ever calls back ...went to St joes emerge where both anvari and Hong work from ..to try to get un filled ...the emerge Dr says nope can't help you go back to where the band was placed ...explained what happened with cibo clinic and that drs anvari and Hong worked at cibo but emerge Dr still says we are not equipped to do un fills , I'm like seriously this is a bariactric hospital..so after spending 10 hrs on a few occasions in hospital no one will help me but they certainly didn't have a problem taking my 18,000 dollars to put it in .... I'm so sick and fed up with this band ...can anyone please help me or point me in the right direction.

    February sleevers

Hi, sleeves 2/11 lost 10 pounds in the first week. Seriously upset though bc the scale hasn't budged in a week. I do have a hard time getting in enough fluids and protein but I am walking 30 min every day on top of my normal housework. I have zero heartburn or difficulty getting my soft foods in. But for example yesterday was an egg w cheese a babybel cheese and a half a piece of cod but I was so full I couldn't look at anything else. Is my body that stubborn it won't kick the weight off? Aside from not being hungry I'm wondering why I did this! I just feel alone bc all my husband can say is "I don't know you're beautiful anyway" ... While I adore is answer I just wonder if I'm alone out there ... Sorry for the rant just very frustrated this morning

    Fed up

On my pre op diet, surgery is Friday. I've stick to my diet, I was only asked to do 10 says, but have made sure I've had no carbs, sugar etc. I've stuck to about 800 calories a day, yesterday was much less... About 600. And today I gained 1lb! That means I've lost 5lbs. I am so tired and cold. And now my period has come - I don't usually have periods on my pill. The last time was 8 months ago. Why now?? Will they still do my sleeve Friday? I'm miserable. :-(
  23. I was sleeved 12/26, down 46 pounds. I was hospitalized for four days about a month ago for dehydration. Since then I haven't had zero issues getting in all my fluids. Suddenly on Saturday I started vomiting non stop. Sunday I was still vomiting but not as much and today I have only thrown up three times. I called my surgeon bc I have been doing really well with my fluid intake (aside from this weekend now with the constant vomiting). He said "it's not from the surgery. You probably have a bug." Well that really pissed me off because I have zero fever or aches and pains. I'm wondering if it is my anxiety acting up. I have had it since I was little but ever since the surgery it bothers my stomach a lot more. I've only gotten about 10 ounces in today. Everytime I sip I want to puke. Any input would be nice
