Weight at the end of supervised diet
megieg replied to megieg's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
My doctor stated that as long as it fluctuate a few pounds. She said, I shouldn't lose to much bc then the insurance will say I can do it on my own but not to go much either. -

You sound a lot like me. Never in my life have I made a decision where I sought a man's approval first. I am also self-employed, successful, and quite happy with or without a guy in my life. My perspective has always been that the day someone tells me how to spend my time or my money is the day I'm done with them and that would include telling me what I should and shouldn't do with my body. I would never tell a man that he couldn't have the vast majority of surgeries (vasectomy or sex change, I'd have an opinion) and as such, I would expect that he respect my wishes as well. My approach is a bit harsh, however I would let your husband know that he has two options, he can accept your decision and be the supportive partner he should be or he can choose to continue to act the way he is acting, you will still have the surgery, and in the event he no longer is able to fulfill your emotional and physical needs, you will be going elsewhere. Life is to short for grown women to have to deal with little boy bs. Either he steps up or he gets out. Either way you win.

I agree. I like that there is a 'B*itch Board' bc we all need to sometimes... I sometimes don't want to say how I'm feeling bc you'll get some people with "you know what you were signing up for". I'm sorry when your in a bad way, it's not the time to hear how your not doing this right, that right, and you should've rethought what you were doing an so on.

@@Luna222, Don't feel discouraged. Your doing wonderful! You've got it absolutely right, Walmart sizing SUCKS! I have to go into Walmart with the mentality that I'm buying this size, but anywhere else it would be 1-2 sizes less. For me I deal with that for now, bc as I'm losing weight, I refuse to pay, Kohl's, JC Penny, Nordstrom or even Target prices while I still have a bit to go ahead of me. You MUST, MUST MUST, get your 'Protein & Vitamins' in each day. Also, you need a - pick me up-. Your feeling down. Do something for yourself that gets you in a better mood. Get a pedicure, buy a new lip gloss, new summer dress that makes you feel good, hair cut... Something to put you back into a mood of feeling good! I know if I miss a vitamin or don't get 60g of protein in, I'm feeling super blah. You can do this. Feel better.

Tbh I love your question bc I believe your correct!! Due to my pregnancies my muscles stretched. Badly. That being said, I also overall had about 85-100 lbs extra to lose... Depending on how you look at my weight. I since delivering two years ago, had a six month pregnant look. Everything else looked OK. Now that I've been losing the weight since my surgery, my belly had gone down drastically and bc I have extra skin. Not a ton but will definitely need a panni or abdominoplasty my belly button looks slightly lower, not crazy or anything but I believe it's because I'm losing so much in the mid section. I think I will try taking my measurements, I've never done that. -
I have been sleeved for 5 years. When I made my decision I heard all that crap too. As a matter of fact my boss at the time was scheduled to have hers done before me. So she felt slighted that I to was having it she was a great deal heavier. However I ha been having issues with my health for over 6 years prior and I had a hubby and 2 children to think about. She and another lady that had a band always made comments and talked about me. My closest friend there was a RnY bypass with 3 years out. She told me. Look their gonna talk. You will drop more weight fast because you have less to loose and she won't like it. But it's your life. I had surgery and it happens just like she said. By the time I was back 3 weeks later I was down 42 lbs. she was sleeved 1 month prior and has lost 40 but you couldn't tell much. I was told I cheated, was lazy because I did not attend her support group or Zumba classes. I did my own at another location. All my family supported me in person and on the phone and still do. My husband is my biggest fan. He tells me no matter what I look like he loves me. So if anyone asks I tell them yeah I had it done. Had to to fix problems with my health. If they give me any BS I ask them if they could come visit me for a month and we will live on liquid Protein together and work and all the other stuff we have to do and. See who is stronger. I don't bull s it it. I'll tell them plain out it is my body and I choose what I do. If you son like it or the way I live to bad. God choose me to do a specific purpose in life and if gastric sleeve is part of that who am I to argue. I also ask them how much they spend each month on medications, ciggaretts and side pop. Along with all the other crap they eat. That usually ends their rants.

I am taking 4 wks in total but only bc my job is very physical. I am 10 days post op and if I had a desk job I could be back at work. I will say though that while I feel ok, I am glad to be home and on my own schedule to get the eating, timing, drinking, and exercise routine down pat. -

I have a question... I was sleeved on September the 15th. I have recently been working out with a trainer for almost two months. We take my measurements weekly. Today we took my measurements on my waist and I went up three inches, but my hips went down an inch. When measuring my waist, he told me that I had the tape in the wrong place, but I didn't Bc it was right across my bellybutton. He said it is lower than where he measures each week and it seemed to be like I was almost to my hip line. So my question is does you bellybutton drop...is this just part of this crazy process and it will all come together at the end? I mean there is such a thing called gravity... Please if anyone has any thoughts or suggestions on my measurements please let me know. I dropped weight this week too... Just confused. Thanks in advance! -
Waiting for my surgery approval/date
smrogg replied to smrogg's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Hi @lauraellen80. I'm having gastric bypass. I too have been having too many food funerals as you call them ????. I am looking forward to eating right and getting energy!! My weight has held me back from a lot of things and it's only getting worse so something has got to give. I exercise and only a few pounds comes off. My biggest struggle is remembering to eat and when I do eat I'm so hungry I don't make the best choices. I haven't tried any of the shakes yet, bc my dr wants me to wait until I have my date to start. My BMI is 43.0 and my insurance requires a minimum of 40.0 to be eligible, so he doesn't have me on a plan yet. But once I get my date I will be using them! My husband had bypass a year ago in December and has lost 160 pounds. He's a new man! And I'm hoping we can support each other in this journey so that we are both successful at it. Waiting is terrible, although it's only been 2 days since my last dr appt. but I'm hoping to hear soon. The anticipation and worry if not getting approved is killing me. Although I meet all requirements there's always that "what if" -

slight rant with a huge dose of disappointment
KF2007 replied to KF2007's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I finally met my surgeon today. I like him. However his nurse told me that he and the other doctor have commitments and vacations comig up so were most likely looking at July or August for surgery date. im sure she could see the disappointment on my face. This is typically how my luck goes it seems. My weight also went up by about 7 lbs since my last NUT appointment a few months back. Guess i ate worse on my vacation then i thought... I was told to really watch my diet bc insurance will be looking at if i can comply with what they are asking me to do. so ive got a some time to work on losing it! Fingers crossed theres no more obstacles or hurdles! 1 year is a long time to be working towards this. But i must say, its really prepared me. Had i had surgery within a few months of starting the process, i dont think i would have been as ready for it. I understand so much more about it all now! Im more ready then ever. Send out for Insurance approval next week! Hope its quick! -
Cathy, it's just the physical symptoms that are the issue. I don't mind driving a car too much but I do get a little nervous in parking lots. I'm just worried about the dizziness on the trip. Motion for me causes dizziness although I am seeing minor improvements so that is promising. Seriously, who would ever think that an accident in a school parking lot would cause this much trouble. It has put such a damper on my life and the life of my family. I've missed out on a lot in the past 5 months bc of this. No, it wasn't my fault. A teacher was speeding and ran a stop sign right when I turned into the parking lot. Yes, I do have a lawyer. Nothing will be done until all of the symptoms are over or they are as good as they will get. Kim, sorry you are down. You have suffered a lot of loss in the past year. I hate depression. Depression runs in my family. When I was younger my mom had severe depression. She was even hospitalized to get help. When she was a child she was abused and for years she blocked it from her memory. When she realized what happened she got help. She is a different person now. Sometimes I hate it when I look at my life and I try to imagine why I am sad and why I have depression. Other people have things so much worse than I. It's like I get mad at myself because I shouldn't be depressed. Today is a good day though. I feel pretty good so I will live in the moment and enjoy this time. Here is a selfie I took with my boys today. My 15 year old is taller than I am and my 12 year old is almost as tall as I am now.

Sleevers 15th September to 21st September Check in

My husband and I are also having the sleeve done. It will be closer to the end of the yr as we're just getting started. But we are doing them abt 4-6 weeks apart and that's bc our youngest daughter is disabled. Since we can't lift for a few weeks it's necessary that we each have time to heal well. ????

I think you should start creating friendships with women first and if anything develops its bc they liked the real you no matter what size you were. Easier said then done I know but when someone falls in love with you they will celebrate your weight loss victories along with you. ????

Nausea... Don't want to eat!
KalelsWifey replied to KalelsWifey's topic in Gastric Bypass Surgery Forums
No, I haven't bc when I went into gnc, they said 'unflavored' still has a flavor and apparently for being non flavored tastes nasty... If that makes sense. I think truthfully it's bc I want to incorporate healthy foods like protein Pancakes or whole wheat toast but can't that's maybe making me blah to all the proteins already. -
How was your 5:2 day today?
Oregondaisy replied to Oregondaisy's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Sorry to hear you're down, Coops! I hope you feel better soon and whatever is dragging you down at work is resolved soon! Kim, I have never tried the pouch test. I always think I would gain whatever I lost as soon as I stopped it. I've just been trying to eat low carb and do protein drinks for breakfast and lunch. Sar, I am so sorry to hear you're still having problems from your accident. I can't remember who was at fault. If it was not you, I hope you have gotten a lawyer. My new man is home for a few days. Owen came back from out at sea fishing. I am so excited I finally found a man that likes to dance. We are going dancing tonight. He will be home a little longer bc he had to take his boat out of the water for repairs. So I will have him around a little longer. I'm trying to eat low carb and I am hanging at 142 and I want to be under 140. I don't think it will happen without me starving myself. I still can't work out. I hope this physical therapy actually helps me learn how to help my back. I can't take this pain down my leg. It's weird how my leg can hurt so much from something going out in my back. -
Between y'day & today, I've been dealing with some nausea... Today is a little worse than y'day. I know I can eat some more. Barely had a half of a chicken breast for dinner and I feel so nauseas. All I want is to just drink. Water. Nothing else. However I still need to get my proteins I'm for the rest of the day. Aside from that concern, in general I DON'T want to eat... At all... I'm tired of just proteins and in fact I believe that is actually why I'm getting nauseated when due to eat or am eating. I cannot just do proteins drinks bc I don't want to develop a textural issue with food and need my body to 'want' to eat and chew... Anyone else have this issue? What do you eat for your soft moist proteins to get thru this time? Fyi: I dislike immensely, Greek Yogurt and ricotta...

Band removal. Pressure for RNY over Sleeve.
Bndtoslv replied to adorkbl's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
My story is similar to yours. My surgeon is very conservative too. I lost 100% ewl before complications after kids. Had my band out and asked my surgeon which would be better for me after band and he said I should do sleeve. Hope he is right bc doing surgery in June! Maybe get another option? I had heard the same things as you about sleeve being less successful but there are plenty of successful revisions on this board. What complications did you have? -
1 month post op
jersey_girl_86 replied to jersey_girl_86's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm eating baked or grilled chicken, eggs, yogurt, cheese stick, oatmeal, I tried cooked broccoli and green beans and both were ok. I'm just really nervous to try more/different things. I had horrible horrible heartburn and my sleeve was just so grumpy and I had 1 salt less cracker and omg that was a mistake. I just feel like when I see/hear others they are just eating much more. I also can only take about 2-3 baby spoon bites and have to wait a good 20 mins to eat more. My mother made me a grilled chicken cutlet and I was determined to eat the whole thing even if it took me all day and it really did. I haven't been meeting my protein or liquid goals and I had to stop with the protein shakes bc they bothered my kidneys and I ended up in the er in horrible pain. So now I'm just really looking for ideas of foods I can make and will sit well. This weekend I am going to start weekly preps so hoping that helps. -
Post-op periods
jm726 replied to Stephanie Stroup McIntosh's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Weight gain & weight loss can cause a fluctuation in all of our hormones, as our body tries to become accustomed to new requirements. It sounds like your hormones were kept level & under control with the pill... Did you have an alternative method of BC placed for the surgery? IUD or Depo-Provera shot? If not, it seems like your body is in estrogen overload. Also, while PCOS is more common in larger people, it's not solely reliant on that factor, & may still be giving you some trouble. I'd make an appointment with your PCP or OB/GYN. They should be able to give you some options to help make you more comfortable. So while, heat, exercise, and fluids are needed to get you through this go round, I'd check with a doctor for options best suited for your individual needs... Just some thoughts & suggestions... Hope it helps. ☺️ Ohhh, lastly sounds like your retaining Fluid. No worries there.
