I hate the reaction too, and that is why I decided not to tell anyone. People have these ideas in their head and they think that just bc they have never had a weight problem, you shouldn't either and it is just your willpower. Screw 'em!!!

Chest pains after surgery?
Lady Lap Band replied to PSJ71's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had a lot of chest pains. I ended up staying an additional night in the hospital bc of it. It was just the gas that they fill you up with, but they did it as a precaution. Scale of 1-10....8ish??? -
I am really pushing it.
nikeisha932 replied to tfarr's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was in the same situation as mnmlst. I had help for the first 2 weeks then I was on my own with my 11 month old daughter. My husband is military and went on a field op for 2 weeks. You just have to be very cognizant of finding alternatives to not lifting. We put my daugther's crib mattress in on the floor next to our bed so I wouldn't have to lift her in and out of the crib. I fed her sitting on the floor so I didn't have to use the high chair. I held her hands while she climbed up and down the stairs. Anything I could do to not lift her. That said, there were times I had to lift her and I did pay the price. I was sore and in pain on those days I did too much. Thankfully nothing more serious. Just take your time and use your legs if you have to lift, but avoid it as much as you can. Good luck!! -
Bc with normal tummies it's a small bar and Water is to help feel full. They recommend that with most bars. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

Today is FRIDAY the April 13, 2007 Although I can see myself purposely try and sabbatage my body, I am aware of it now and I am taking the steps to prevent any and all BS that comes into my mind. The first two days were rough. My husband and I set up the Bowflex we bought for him and I. We had our "Final Meal" Monday night.......the funny thing about this final meal is that....ive had a bazillion final meals.....but for some reason this one was different. I didnt go "all out". I still had steak dinner...and I still ate the mashed potatoes with EVERYTHING on them.....but it was different....i didnt finish it all. My band was unfilled about 4 weeks ago because of personal reasons....i was required to get it unfilled. So for the past 4 weeks I had basically been eating like a pig. I never really lost weight from the band...but i cheated the system. I drank when I ate and I only had 2 fills the entire time I have been banded...which is not a good thing. On Tuesday I went to my Dr. and had my lapband refilled. I told him this was it....I was really going to do it....Im sure he has heard this all before so in a sense I felt really stupid....2 years have gone by and I have nothing to show for it.....same clothes...same size....same miserable self. I had started a job in September 06 and it was a work from home job. A DREAM JOB FOR A FAT GIRL. I was making $500 a week to answer the phone lines as a customer service rep. The job was completely legit and was great....except I sat at my computer for HOURS on end. The girl I worked with was absolutely nuts! She was the owners sister and she was 50+ and thought she knew everything...NOT. After making a new discovery in my life that my health was #1 and my job was making me SICK that B%$#H e-mailed me a nasty lwork re-lated email for the last time. I quit immediately putting her and her sister(the owner) in a nasty spot with no one to cover my shifts. SERVES THEM RIGHT! I'm tired of people taking over my life and making me miserable....but then I thought...thats exactly what I have been doing for YEARS!! :clap2: DUH So i'm sitting here thinking to myself....what can I do to make sure I don't for lack of better terms (fall off the wagon) and I remembered lapbandtalk.com. I am going to try and stick to this...hopefully a year from now I will have an entire journal and tons a weight down! Today I walked 25 min and .93 miles....which is a huge leap from yesterday...(at least to me it is) Yesterday i walked 20 min .64 miles I broke a sweat both days...YIPPEE (kyle(my husband) is working out with me...so this makes it a lot easier) Right now im eating liquid things(because my band was just filled)....i was told by my lapband dr that i should NOT be drinking protein shakes because they are "empty" calories. So i've ditched that idea I have been told to eat 5-6 meals a day......that's hard for me because my meal selection is slim....any ideas? Right now it has to be soft foods but in a couple of days i can go back to normal. Just an update! I will be shooting for 25-30 minutes tomorrow...and possible start holding some weights while i walk... Thanks for all the encouragement!!! Kyle says i should be walking at night tonight.....so maybe i will hop on for 15 min...... tata for now Krystal

Yes...I have restriction...Now I'm afraid to eat anything solid
Mom2_4 replied to BlessedTwice's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
When you finally get that restriction you have to really start remembering all of the things they warned you about like eating slow, chewing everything to death, and watching out for breads and pastas. When I first got banded, I thought, HA I can still eat this stuff and I am losing weight, but when I got good restriction, I slowly learned that I was not quite as invincible as I thought I was. I generally avoid breads, rice, pastas, lettuce, steak and most beef. On the upside, the weight is falling off and at a good rate. It is like my body is telling me this is how I want to be fed and it is slowly but surely going back to the way it used to be. -
Attention Aetna And Federal Blue Cross Sleevers....
DanaInNewOrleans replied to DanaInNewOrleans's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Hi, Thanks for getting back to me. Which doc refused--- surgeon or primary? Did you call Federal Blue Cross and they told you that or did the office call? I called Fed BC today and the woman was clueless. All she did was send me the official policy criteria, which I already had. I explained that I needed to know if there are any exceptions to the 3 month pre-op diet. She she did not know and did not know who would know. Thanks! Dana -

Updated: Insurance requirements with questions
Blund replied to mschaffer66's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
All BC's are seperate with their own criteria. I have BC of California (but live in Michigan) and just got approved (in 5 days!) My policy didn't actually state requiring the 6 moth diet, but I had my old WW card from a year ago with a 9 month history which was sent in. I also typed up a history of my last 25 years' struggle with weight loss, and a letter as to why I want the surgery. I assume all of that went in to BC, but I don't know for sure. Maybe you could produce a written journal of some kind? Or a weigh-in history with WW or somewhere else if you tried that? It sounds like your policy requires a 'pre-service review" like mine. There is a seperate phone number (at least for me) to call them. They have been very nice to me so far. I wouldn't rely on the surgeon's office, you should check this out for yourself. Then you can ask questions about co-payments, etc. Good Luck. -
My docs office submitted almost 2 weeks ago and today Cigna said they didn't have all the info they needed and was going to deny when everything they said was missing WAS submitted. The nurse is resubmitting today what was missing and hoping for approval. Just BS that they say stuff is missing when it's their in front of them to hold up the process. Very frustrated. Wanted to hear accepted this week since I did all I was suppose to and all was submitted. UGGGH! No guarantees I understand even if you meet all the qualifications. Just have to pray and be patient something I am not very good at. Sue

November 2015 Sleevers?
kris421 replied to goddess977's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeved on 11/23! Weight day of surgery 363. Weight today 315. Mostly normal foods by now. Struggling with getting enough Water (bc I let myself have coffee again). I feel like I'm not losing anymore. Anyone in or want to start a November sleepers fb group? Edit: I read further and saw the group. I am much more active on fb than I am on here. Anyone mind if I join? -

Question For The Mommies
I_did_it! replied to JenniJune's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also fed my family the same stuff that I was feeding them before. I agree that this was my choice and they shouldn't suffer because of it. I will admit that cooking during the pre-op diet was very hard for me, but post-op it's not such a big deal...I don't even really want the food! Good luck JenniJune! -
Question For The Mommies
rodswife replied to JenniJune's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just but the bullet and fed them what normally feed them. It was my decision to get sleeved so I didn't feel right making them suffer. -
YSARDPMV--your surgeon's and registered dietitian's plan may vary (j/k) I do like having "surgeon" in there, though, bc too many people want to DIY their plans based on what someone else's surgeon may have said or done or whether someone else was eating popcorn 2 hours after surgery (lol)...etc.

Before I had surgery ( 3 months ago ) My period was super irregular and when I did get it, it was light but I had blood clots. I still have big BC. Now it's REALLY heavy, and I woke up this morning and there was blood everywhere. I've never experienced this. And I'm sick, so when I sneeze and cough it comes out even more. I am very terrified, and I don't want to leave my house... I am in college and I am super embarrassed. Now that I am losing weight, I've noticed it becoming frequent and heavier. What do you recommend? Any advice? -Ariannuhh❤️

In California they will do 8 hours n a surgery center under general anesthesia and I don't think it is a law bc in my recent consults the docs have mentioned it as an " I don't do..." Rather than "I can't do..." And two said 8 hours and one said 6. @@jess9395 Interesting! I wondered if it was a law or not because it was an issue on all of my surgeries. My doctor said that they start getting cranky when they go over 6 hours and they don't like to let outpatients leave when surgeries run long. Since they do a lot of reconstruction patients in much longer surgeries, I assumed this rule only applied to those of us who leave the facility the same day.

My kaiser PCP wont refer me because i have No comorbidities and my bmi is 38.5 I want to change PCPs now. I go to kaiser vallejo. But doesnt kaiser make u do a 6 mo program or something as well? Honestly im thinking about going to mexico with dr. Ortiz (been on oprah, and the doctors, and facility is a center of excellence)... But everyone (friends and family are still scared bc its mexico. I dont want to have to go alone. I dont want to have to try and gain 10 lbs (im a bridesmaid for my cousins wedding in june) so that i can have a BMI of 40 AND THEN still have to do a 6 mo program. Even my therapist is being unsupportive. I already have a surgery date on 8/1... Ill pay outta pocket but its faster and i dont want to waste another minute being this size. *sigh*

I think you might be able to eat the whole sub because it's a veggie sub. Are you a vegetarian? (I am). I am wondering if you could eat it all (plus bread) if it included meat protein (I'm guessing not). Your calories don't sound like they are excessive. You might do better having some solid protein for breakfast instead of the shake--it would get your metabolism going and keep you full longer. My dr doesn't like us to drink protein shakes once we are on solids bc the protein in them is more bioavailable so your body doesn't have to work as hard to process it--which makes you stay full for less time and contribute to losing more slowly.

I have no idea what I will look like thinner!
Disabledaccount replied to Kiap82's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Lol this is my life story. Been overweight my whole life, always got the but you've got a pretty face BS. Also worried about how I'm going to look with the weight off. Hope I don't end up with a sunken face and oodles of loose skin. Who knows, getting my health back is top priority so let the chips fall where they may -
I just had my band surgery on Tuesday. My doctor just required a 1500 calorie diet before surgery. I'm on the liquid diet now...but I'm ready to move it forward to my soft food diet bc I have alot more options. Good luck to all!

Maybe, maybe not. If it's acid you need medication from the doctor, a PPI like Omeprazole are you on one? If it's "head hunger" then you need to do the mental work--are you hungry bc you see food commercials? Because you are sad/mad/lonely/tired/frustrated? What hole does food fill for you?
