Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

Thanx Slinx for the lovely compliment, I wish I was a size 10!!!!! I'm in a 16 top and almost in a size 14 pants. But I've always been that shape , bigger at the top than the lower area. My Mum and my best friend both gave me a compliment yesterday, independently, they both remarked on my shrinking bottom lol. Slinx is correct, my band wasnt done by Dr Chris, as you can see in my sig. How good are you going the gym 4 times a week Laila, you deserve the rewards, I'm a lazy git thats why I have so much loose skin, that and my age of course. I used to go the gym 3 times a week a few years back, but I got fed up in the end. Irish LBG, dont despair, like Slinky says you need a few more fills and you wont be able to eat, I had my second op in Feb 2009 and didnt get any restriction until July of that year. It has taken me since then to lose 4 stone, but I'm almost at goal now, so dont give up and dont anyone here feel bad about themselves, we all know how it feels to be fat, and we sympathise, but you are doing the best thing you can, about it, and you will win in the end, just make sure you keep getting the fills until you can only eat a third of a cupfull, and the weight will disappear.

Anyone know of Dr De Bruyne Chris

hi all, I am 38 and am fed up with waiting my life being overweight. I have thought about surgery but I am frightened. I cam across this surgeon tonight and could not believe the cost was half of the UK cost. I saw you all seem happy with the surgery you have received. I am sorry to ask but what happens if something goes wrong when you are back in the UK? Will te NHS help. I have heard that they refuse aftercare, is this true? I really want to do this as I can not spend another 20 years being this miserable. I am 17 stone and 7 lbs and 5'7", I have a BMI of 38. All I want is to lose weight and live a normal life and from reading some of this thred that seems to be what you guys are doing Thanks for your advise.

    Dont want the Sleeve

How can I say this? When we know better, we do better...this is especially true in medicine.. My aunt was heavy, too heavy. Really high BMI. I don't know what she weighed, but very short and very heavy. Eventually couldn't hardly walk at all. The surgery they offered then was state of the art for that time. It was some kind of lap band that she got that got all wrapped around her insides to the point that it had be removed b/c she couldn't get food down at all. But that time has passed, it was the first lap band or stomach stapling and that was gosh, 30 years ago. She died 13 years ago or so, from being overweight. She was in her late 50's, and otherwise she had been healthy - just heart problems from being overweight for so long, loss of muscle tissue, etc. She prayed for that magic pill to lose weight. In time the magic weight loss pill came along and it damaged people's heart valves, not hers I guess bc she was already gone, but it did damage my dad's valve. Then there was the more modern lap band, then the bypass/RNY/DS, etc. and now the sleeve. And actually now the sleeve plication. You gotta realize your doctor is working with the most up to date information. We get used to hearing about things like lap band and it was great for some, or gastric bypass, which some people did well. But now the sleeve is better than those. Maybe you really do need to look at data. Kinda sounds like you really wanted gastric bypass, but what if this is better? I weighed 220 and I was paying cash bc my insurance did not cover ANY WLS or complications from WLS. I asked my doctor which surgery would be best for me long term, most effective, safest, etc. I didn't ask which was cheapest, because I didn't care. He immediately said sleeve. I went to a nutrition meeting with like 6 other people getting WLS. Some lap band and some gastric bypass. All of them were on insurance. They were all getting the lap band or gastric bypass, but all wished they were getting the sleeve. Their insurance did not cover it bc it was too new, That was a year ago so since then a lot are covering it. At a certain point you gotta pick a doctor and trust him. I do have one question though. The sleeve plication is even less risky than the sleeve, from the little I've read here, so if you were not able to lose weight to have the surgery (the 100 lbs) then could you get the plication at least temporarily to keep you from being able to overeat? I just wondered if you had spoken with your doctor about that. The plication is where the stomach is not cut but it is rolled up and stiched so that only a small portion of the stomach is available to put food into. I was wondering though. 100 lbs seems like a lot to lose before surgery, but I know he is trying to help you. I wish you the best.

    Psych Evaluation

Ok so I have my psych evaluation in a week and I am filling out my pre appointment paperwork and now I am a little worried. I have a bipolar mom and I have been diagnosed as OCD in the past and I am now worried that this may keep me from passing the evaluation. I am a depressed person but mostly bc of my weight and I am not on medication for it so I don't think that will be a concern but bc my mother is clinically diagnosed and takes medication for bipolar and it can be hereditary. I know I should be honest but I almost feel like I want to keep that info out of the psych evaluation. Has anyone else been in this same situation and experienced a good outcome?
  5. For some reason (I've got to think on it), I've been "hungry" all day; in quotes bc it's not really hunger, but "wanting to eat". Being able to put a label on and identify each was a big, fat epiphany for me. Clearly I'm not in need of food bc I've eaten at the same times and in the same amounts that I have been for the past 2 months. I'm dancing with my demons today. But you know what? I'M LEADING! I haven't given in. And for that tiny miracle, I am grateful and proud.

    Where are the November Sleevers?

That's nice that you have support, especially family who has been through surgery already! I live in BC, Canada and in my town I haven't found a support group to go to. :-( so that's too bad! I can't wait to go through this with you guys and cheer on your success both in the scale and off! Sheena :-)

  8. Im scheduled for 9/1. I started my pre op diet early on 8/1 just to prepare myself and to try and lose a few pounds before surgery, with a few cheats here and there. I am currently doing strictly protein shakes, sugar free jello, sugar free popsicles, soups, sugar free pudding, unsweetened applesauce, and I've pureed veggies a few times. My doctor is very adamant that no weight is gained before surgery. My weight fluctuates so much, I thought I'd be losing barely eating anything basically starving myself and compared to others Im not losing like I thought I would. My surgeons pre op diet requires that I only eat meat, green veggies, eggs and cheese, but I chose not to bc I can gain weight like nothing. Im losing/maintaining my weight. He did inform me that a few pounds gained is ok as long as I didnt go overboard and gain 10-15lbs I will be ok. But of course I am still worried because Im about 2 pounds over my initial weight with him. I see him for pre op next tues 8/29 then surgery on friday 9/1. I pray everything is ok and I can have my surgery. I think I might just eliminate all solids from today on and drink my shakes and have broth until my surgery date.

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

IMHO - She doesn't need a room - she lives on campus - stay on campus and come and get your shit... Plain and simple - if she can't help then forget her - she's going to need you before you are going to need her.. I assume her stuff is packed - so texted her to come and get it - you aren't moving it.. I know how you feel in one of my moves - Joseph Daddy just dissappeared - I moved everything by myself - Well my Uncle did come w/a big truck for the furniture - but it was me and him who moved the furntiure but the rest of the stuff I did on my own - Joseph was 5 I remember that night when we were done - going to my Dad's for dinner and realizing that the only thing I had fed him was a beef stick and a soda.. What a bad mother I was.. (not really he never complained) You are tired stressed have the pity party...

    June Sleevers Post Op

Hi i had my surgery on 5/5/20 and im a little over a month post op my surgery went well went home the next day bc my surgery was later in the day. Do not be discouraged if u do not see results right away. I was kind of down at first i just stuck to the diet. My pre surgery weight was 234 before my 6 month consult before surgery approval i was 250 when i go approved for surgery i was 234 i had lost all that weight from learning portion sizes and switching foods for healthy ones. So starting at 234 i went on my 2 week liquid diet and my going in weight at surgery was 213.5 pounds for the sleeve on average your suppose to loose 13 pounds a month for the first 6 months and 3 pounds a month for another 6 month until your body plateaus which will be your stopping weight. I am now 200.0 even i had lost the entire 13.5 pounds in a month so it is accurate if you do the right thing. The surgery is a tool u have to do the work also. I haven't weighed in again yet bc i am nervous i haven't been under 200 pounds since middle school this is a blessing for me my blood sugars are better and my joint pain is less from my autoimmune arthritis disease. All of you can do it.. Im here bc i have no support system so we all can be each other support systems anything yawl would like to know or recipes i will be glad to answer. God bless all of you on your journeys and cant weight to hear about everybody's 1 year anniversary and results pics. Im going to start taking some all [emoji2]. Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call

I have those days too. Unfortunately. Went to bed in tears last night and had a long discussion with my husband this morning about how after 6 weeks I am still pretty much regretting the surgery. My weight loss is at a standstill. Everything that tasted good pre-sleeve makes me want to puke now. And I am so beyond sick of cheese, cottage cheese, lunch meat, and eggs that I could scream. Tried a Subway salad tonight and nope, tummy is not real happy with me. Ugh. I am hungry all the time it seems. I can't seem to eat 3 meals a day and 2 snacks. Just seem to graze all day because I am so hungry all day. I think it is complete BS that they cut out the part if the stomach that secretes Ghrelin. Don't believe it for a minute. I think I really need to attend a support group meeting but unfortunately the one at the hospital I had the surgery is too far away and is only once a month. Maybe that is what you need too? Hang in there. I think the emotional/psychological journey is even tougher than the physical one.

July 2013 - Post Op Thread

I'm officially one week postop today! I'm feeling pretty good other than a stabbing pain in my bottom left abdomen that I can't seem to shake. I'm not getting all my fluids and protein in yet but I've gotten more in today than I have yet. Emotionally I'm poor to fair; physically I think I'm doing pretty darn good! My post op follow up is not until 8/1. But I am seeing my pcp next Tuesday bc I haven't taken insulin since I left the hospital except the first night and my BS dropped to 45. No more insulin already!! :-). So I continue to walk, sip, nibble and nap. I do feel like I'm more than able to handle puréed foods already. But they have me on the full liquid diet for 4 weeks! I'm sick of cream of wheat and applesauce! :-).

Finally got approved - Anthem BC

@@bigbit Congrats. Can you tell me the process? Did you have to have to follow a doctor supervised weight loss plan for a specific amount of time, or did you have to involve a primary care physician? My daughter has an appointment today with a surgeon, but this is her first step since leaving Kaiser and her new insurance being Anthem BC.

Hi, I'm new to this forum

I live in Rocklin!!! I have BS of CA too! Who is your surgeon?
  16. I am from BC had my surgery in BC, I was provided with lots of support systems out here, was sleeved here in Richmond BC . The wait isn't as long as getting it done in Victory BC! Just remember people..... 2 week pre op seems hard, can be difficult and yes you may be hungry BUT just because you think if you can't do this you shouldn't have surgery that's isn't true! Pre op is still with your normal, stretched used to be full tummy, you have to shrink it and your liver. You most certainly CAN and deserve surgery because you will then be dealing with a " new" stomach smaller, holds less, a new and different full feeling. It is a new start, new beginning to eating and learning experience and journey! Good luck to you all Chillyprincess4 on myfitnesspal

    Post-op day 2 and regretting

**Update** First of all, thank y'all very much for all the positive support and well wishes. I was a little hesitant to join BP bc I wasn't sure if I would get the support I wanted. But, you guys are wonderful and I'm glad I'm here. Post-op Day 5...today is the first day I've felt semi-human. My brain feels more focused and less under attack from the pain. Still having a little bit of an issue with gas pain and general intestinal gurgling. I don't know what the designation of the second incision from the right was but holy #%^*. It must have been torqued on unmercilessly or was the liver retractor site. I have bruised so badly and have such intense pain from that ONE site. Mild to moderate sharp pain with deep breathing on the left side and a constant aching, burning, tearing pain from that incision on the right. But making due with Tylenol... I really hope I'm over the hump and maybe by day 7 I'll feel 80%.

Adding to my list: When you tell someone to use the search, knowing that there are over 1000 hits and they come back with some snarky bs about searching and not finding anything... like, yo, I know how many hits there are, because I searched before I told you to search, so nice try asshats.
  19. Hey Truberry. Congrats on your sleeve. I was sleeved 7/17 also! I returned to work a week later. How are you handling everything with your sleeve?I know you are looking for people in the area, but I live in Atlanta and I am coming to NY to visit hopefully in September to treat myself. I would love to join your meetup if possible. Thanks Wablue. Congrats to you! That sounds like a wonderful idea. So far the sleeve is great. The usual ups and downs. My job pays in full plus benes while I'm off so there's no point not taking advantage. I start mushy and moist tomorrow and I've never been so excited. What are some of the things you plan to eat during that phase? I'm very much looking forward to a new me. Officially I'm down 14lbs. Unofficially 18. But I'll have to wait three weeks for my next doc visit for any more info bc my scale refuses to move and I'm pretty sure it's wrong bc the docs readings were different. How are you doing so far?

    PCOS Strikes again!

I have to take BC pills to regulate my period due to my PCOS, I've taken it for over 10 years, at the moment I take Marlissa. I don't contribute the BC to any weight gain, as long as I do what I'm supposed to I still lose weight.
  21. I was doing sooo well yesterday. No hunger, pushed my first "meal" to 3pm, still no hunger, good on protein, fluids, supplements, low cals. And then I started looking up restaurants in Rome for my upcoming vacation, and all that "no hunger" bs was out the window, and Postmates was showing up at my door It's interesting because I felt like such a failure last night when I caved. But I was still in a 5 hr window, my cals, were still low for most people, I only ate till full then threw out the rest. So basically it didn't wreck my day, but the guilt! If this had been a planned meal out, where I just made an unwise choice, I'd barely feel bad at all. Today is a new day. Thankfully the late-ish carbs didn't wake up my hunger monster. We'll see how today goes, but IF is the plan (carbonara is not).
  22. You have to learn to fill up on fluids, distract yourself and don’t eat every time you are “hungry”. Your previous statement about not being able to achieve what you plan if your body is crying out to be fed is already setting yourself up for failure. Take it one meal at a time, one day at a time. You can do this!

Lucky #7 are still going strong !!!

Ok I know the kind you are talking about - and capri's on you are long pants lol - so they could pass for pants.. But still - PJ's oh I will take that back - I had a nightgown from target - with margrita's on it - it looked like a dress and I have worn that to price club.. lol Jackie what is Court eating/drinking - is she getting her Water Protein in ??? IMHO 7 days a week - is a little excessive - you can get burned out real quickly on that kind of schedule - plus you need to give your muscles a rest. Is Court OCD like you?? (said with love ;0) Sweetie we would never kick you off the island - we love you.. Jackie's cool - she won't take it the wrong way - hell I'm asking what's she eating - since they are running around and she was just the in hospital - I'm asking if Court's ocd like her Mom... Jackie is family - she knows we love her.. Hungry - IMHO you need to be eating food not drinking it - yes call me Dr Janet (without the $200,000 education & degrees) Again IMHO I think the whole protein keeps you full is bs - i am talking about a pt drink kind of pt makes you full bs that pple talk about.. Yes meat real food does keep you full for a longer time - hell a pt bar or pt drink don't cut it imho - pt bars are excuses for eating candy that has pt.. Cuz it's sure not going to keep you full like 4 oz of meat are.. You are drinking - it's not staying in your pouch - If you want drink if for bf (that is if you aren't super hungry in the mornings and add some frozen strawberries/fruit to it) lunch have tuna/salad or something left over from dinner. How's the vit b12 shots doing - do you see/feel any diff Stress does make you hungry - Think about it - you are at work or home stressing about something - you want to munch - but when you doing something you enjoy you don't really think about food. I will tell you for me - once I start eating - I don't want to stop - I have said this a million times - but I will be physically full - but my body wants more food - almost like a junkie needing a fix.. It's physical not mental - this is why I say - head hunger does manifest it's self in to physical hunger - I pay attention to this - I think about it when after dinner I want more food - so I eat popcorn - lower calories and a slider for me Can you pop some popcorn at home put in a baggie and take to work to snack on.. And there's always the celery carrot thingie too - if you have the urge to munch - do it with lower calorie foods.. Ok your innards - Do you have a 40lk at work that you can borrow from??? And never apoligize for being about you- hell this journey is about you... it's about each one of us - and this is where we come to talk about it - Candice - I know you are getting ready for the wedding this weekend- is the stress of it making you go overboard ?? Kari - how are you doing about giving it over to God.. Are you back on the no soda wagon. Denise - How goes your battles - how you doing girl?? Steph - I guess you aren't home yet - we are waiting to hear how things turned out for Michael - and the rest of the family- you are in our prayers.. Karri - love baby girl.. Well, I went to the gym - was looking for an excuse not to but couldn't come up with one - especially after reading Phyls thingie about the bypass person going back to her old ways - can't do that so went.. Did my 3 miles - burned 400 cal.. I guess somethings do change - even with my bad eating this weekend - I don't say "f" it - I come home and get back on track - That's in itself is a big accomplishment.. Linda - How's your blood pressure - how are you feeling... Well - gotta go feed the dogs and get my dinner started.. CB in a few..

Yeah, Mom & other half siblings are all blond. Steve had paternity test done at one time... he's his all right. We had a good visit. He cried when they left. He's a sweet boy but I can see he's quite a challenge to his grandma! Disgusted with Steve. He called this morning and said be sure to call him when Cody was here. Yeah, right. Called him twice, left urgent message plus text and he never called back. Fed up with him! Earl is off cigs for several days, plus frustrating day with DirecTV setup and he got really nasty tonight w/dog, etc. He gets so cranky when he's trying to quit~!! Can't get any relief from this pain tonight. Went to bed at 9:30 p.m. last night... very early for me, because couldn't get comfortable. Now I'm thinking about going to bed early again tonight. Darvocet a couple of hours ago has not helped at all. Pain is in my left hip, down to knee tonight. Seems to vary between hip and leg. Have many people to see here in OK and only a couple of days to do it. No plan for tomorrow and I better get one soon!
