Rate of Loss. 6 Month Weight Loss Metrics For Info/Comparison
E2013 replied to Madam Reverie's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Great job! You look fab! Love the data. I do it too. I also went as far to measure right and left arm/thigh/calf bc my left side is slightly larger. I'm 5'4". I've lost 51% of excess weight. My starting was 320.8 bmi of 55.1. Today I am 227.8 bmi of 39.1. Dr goal weight for me is 138 bmi of 23.7. However at last Dr appt she said no way will I likely reach 138 bc my bone structure is too large. She said about 50-60 more pounds and I'll probably be just right. So let's say 160 is new goal, I've lost 58% excess and will end with a bmi of 27.5 and will still be overweight. Yiyiyi... I agree with lipstick, I'm more concerned about clothing size. -
I haven't had a continuous period like that, but I have been getting it twice a month like clockwork. My surgeon's office said the first 6 months toootally wack out your hormones, so any sort of weirdness is normal. My weirdness has persisted past 6 months, and my gyno thinks it's because I restarted BC. I got off of it a month before surgery and two months after because of the increased blood clot risk. Still haven't normalized, and if it continues, she'll want me to switch to another level. Your hormones really change dramatically.. Wow twice a month, I don't know which is worse going on 12 days or twice a month. Hopefully these will return to normal soon.

What utter BS. Maybe he refuses to debate "scientists" about global warming because any "scientist" who can live in today's world and still be clueless about it is an idiot. Pretty much the entire scientific community not only agrees that global warming is a problem, but that it's a HUGE problem with catastrophic outcomes if we don't get our asses in gear NOW. And you can see that, even in scientific reports that the US and China have put pressure on to have dumbed down. Except for the scientific reports that the hacks in the Bush administration took and completely rewrote, so that it said the complete opposite of what it originally said. But even that was years ago and not something they can get away with anymore. Even leaked Pentagon papers point at dire consequences of global warming. But if we do anything to try and reverse the damage, that would seriously crimp the oil companies and other corporations. Which is why the Bush administration has a lot invested in either denying global warming altogether or down-playing it as much as possible. And anybody who has their head in the sand so deep, they're completely unaware of global warming around them, should just look at photos of different areas. Glaciers are melting exponentially faster than anticipated. Fresh-Water lakes are evaporating, seas are rising, and the climate's becoming harsher.

Report it. That's truly BS. & then to come back & pretend to be all humbled?

Rugman, thank you for taking the time to post for me. I admit, I know better, I know mostly what works and what doesn't; it's pretty basic overall. But, as I said before, just when I think I have a grasp... bam! 80-120g carbs in one day. I can't seem to break it. I thought did OK over the holiday weekend, especially on a mini vacation... but really, it just OK. What did me in was not so much the food, but the Sangria by the pool. Ugh, as often as I tell people, "If you know it's bad, don't do it," I was doing the same damn thing. THUR, 73 carbs: Hopped off the plane and went out to Chili's with my friends in Phoenix. Had the Guiltless Grill Salmon (about a quarter of the actual fish portion) plus half of the steamed broccoli with a touch of parmesan and half the black Beans. FRI, 152 carbs: Seared tuna and squid for lunch, no sauces. Veal and prosciutto wraps with spinach and mozzerella and a touch of marsala sauce. Roasted veggies. KILLER - Sangria and mixed fruit dipped in Cool Whip, being fed by whomever was holding the bowl. LOL Fun, but a low-carb assassin. SAT, 83 carbs: Dannon 0%plus yogurt. dinner out to Olive Garden and half an order of the Apricot chicken. Even the name is carb-heavy. TDP shows 0 carbs, but I know that's not right; there has to be something from the apricot sauce, even if I ate very little of it. Oh, and more Sangria as we talked into the night. SUN, 72 carbs: Much better, or so I thought. Dannon 0%plus yogurt for B and L. Dinner was baked chicken with a canned Pasta sauce and spinach salad and lowfat, low sugar dressing. Maybe you don't want or need to see all that, but I use that and go back to compare, thinking I am usually so good, and then see that I am averaging 85 carbs a day for the past 30 days. Ugh! Frustrating. So, I have printed an Induction Phase list from Atkins.com and intend to use that when I go shopping tonight. I know that the yogurt is a lot and that I will have to find something else. I am also a big fan of fresh fruit. What do people do instead? The alcohol is a problem for carbs, yes, but not to cut out; that's easy because I don't regularly have it. I am really concerned about Calcium, D, and K; I don't metabolize most supplements very well and I do not like milk. Hence, my yogurt fascination. I would appreciate ideas there. Another somewhat difficult part for me is that I am also a low saturated fat person; I don't eat much cheese, bacon, beef, etc. and instead focus on fish, chicken, and some leaner game when the mood strikes. Maybe this should have been a PM. Sorry for the length. I want to do this, and I appreciate your input. Thanks, again, all of you.

Yesterday was my 11th day post-op. My wife was feeling down from hearing about a death in her family. I was on deck for ensuring everyone got fed. I went to Arbys and loaded up on the insanely delicious brisket sandwiches they bombard TV with on their ads. Everyone seemed happy. Grabbed some Cookies later from a local spot that makes the best. Took them home to my wife. Cheered her up a little. Took my son to a friends birthday party......picked him up at 10:00pm where he said they had pizza & cake yet he was miraculously hungry again. We went through the drive through at my favorite spot on Earth....BoJangles. He had a box of chicken sitting in his lap and couldn't stand it....1/2 way home he asked to eat. I laughed at him and said to dig in. He cut the overhead light on and destroyed that yardbird, biscuit and my favorite drink....a Diet Dew. Needless to say he wasn't done by the time we reached the house so I sat in the driveway with him and waited on him to finish. I am planning on cooking or grilling something for them for lunch today. My wife is one of those blessed folks who has always been the recommend weight on the height-weight chart....or close to it. Our son is a teenage carnivore. He's tall and overly lean. We keep him well fed....yet he's got the metabolism of three. I say all the above to simply say this: I am constantly seeing HD TV food commercials and have been surrounded by my prior favorite foods and held prisoner seated beside Teenage T-Rex as he enjoys them. It is no biggie. I'm still having Protein shakes as my only meals, 12 days post-op. I don't feel deprived or hungry. I"m not feeling like I'm missing out. I'm thrilled by the readings on the scale every morning. It feels better than any food could ever taste.

Any 12/21/15 sleevers: How are you doing?
amandasue replied to mabarbee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Sleeves 12/21! 1st night home was rough (22nd)! I had a complication during surgery bc my spleen was attached to my stomach so they had to remedy that 1st then continue on with the sleeve. Lost quite a bit of blood and was weak and really sore. EVERY SINGLE DAY IS BETTER!! Since 2nd day home I'm walking over a mile strolling the kids in the stroller 1-2xs a day. But when my energy runs out its immediate and I need to rest ASAP! I'm back to washing bottles and loading the dishwasher (top rack only--still a bit uncomfortable to bend), folding clothes! So glad I feel normal for the most part! Now on to food! The last 2 days I've felt hungry but I think it's in my head! I want ANYTHING other than fruit or a Protein shake which along with Clear liquids are my only options. Some scrambled eggs, mashed potatoes, tuna anything that's not sweet! -
I had a TERRIBLE TIME. I ended up on Zofran and Reglan and nexium. Then they warned me off the reglan and increased my nexium. It took a while. Make sure you eat bc if you don’t the acid is worse and makes nausea worse I think. Good ick to you it’s really hard for some people in the first couple months after. It DOES improve! It’s just so individualized.

This May Be Inappropriate, Forgive Me :)

So I want to add to the theory ..could it be that the 40 year old 1) does want a man with more stamina ..that was already mentioned..but I also think 2) its because the 40 year old woman who is divorced is tired of putting up with the bs of the older men, so of course..go with a younger man....and have your "fun time" ..and now that the 40 year old woman is done having her fun with him for the evening ...he can go home!!!! Get out of my house! Just a thought! -

I believe mine is head hunger because my stomach isn't growling or anything I'm just obsessing over how good food looks and tastes but then I'm full quick .. My dr says just drink Water water water and do an activity to get your mind off it . I find my mouth is salivating as I watch the food channel ( crazy ) . Dr says my mind is trying to get me to think about food all the time to put back on weight bc it doesn't know how to stop the weight loss that is occurring . Ahhh .... -
Hi everyone! I'm in need of a few good friends right now. I've been researching lap-band for 1 1/2 years. Had BC/BS of Ne. They refused to cover for ANY reason. Iowa medicaid only covers bypass after three years of documented physician assisted dieting. Now I have United Health care-the top "premier"-THEY said it was EXCLUDED, but would take it on a Case-by-case basis with a surgeon's predetermination letter. Needless to say I'm so depressed because I was denied-the co. said"You have a policy exclusion for obesity surgery" DUH!!!!! I feel hoodwinked too since we could have changed our coverage by June 28 and not paid out $300/mo. for insurance we can't use!!! any good advice? Does anyone have United Health care-Overture Premier?(Tier 3)

I have BC/BS and was approved in 1 hour. NO JOKE. I am having surgery June 21st. I think that it has alot to do with your doctors office. They had all of my paper work done. They already knew what I needed to send in. I would stay on them. Find out who is handling your case with your insurance. Call them up and befriend them. It worked for me.

Being converted to gastric bypass......
ashleyb replied to ashleyb's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Ok... let me clear up all the unknown's I thought i had said this all before but i will say it again just so everyone is on the same page. I have had 8 fills at most 2cc and the least .5cc at a time i have 7 cc in there right now. And i do not have a leak, he's checked. when i was too tight at one point he only took out .5cc and ever since then I have not gotten enough restriction which i don't understand bc if i was so tight before why then am i not now. when i have at least 3 cc more then what i had when i was too tight! i dont get it. so that's what that's all about. I can eat anything, everything, and a lot at one time. I have to stop myself! -
Getting Ready for Spring Bootcamp
StartingOver replied to Teresita's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Here's my update for today..... - Drank all my Water (it's 10:36pm and I'm finishing up now) - Exercise 1 hr elliptical machine 20 mins lower body weights 10 min abs I went to Target and forgot to buy a new Walk Away the Pounds DVD I forgot my Vitamin (until now-so I'm taking it ) I had not such a great day with food. Breakfast: 3 pieces turkey bacon Lunch: a few bites of a very very dry burger some fries dipped in ranch and consumed one at a time in small bites chewed very well as to not get stuck and a Dr. Pepper to top it off No dinner. I was busy. Fed the family first then wanted to rush off to the gym. Not a healthy choice. I'm drinking some Protein now because I know I need something in my system. Tomorrow I will try to eat a healthier, more balanced diet. I know that it's not healthy to skip meals-it really was an oversight cuz I was so busy (and not very hungry). -
Post Op September Sleevers, Roll Call
mommydrysdale replied to newgrandmother's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Today 3 weeks ago I had my sleeve done. Im down 24 lbs! What does everyone think about eating sunflower and pumpkin seeds.,i was on a stall and after eating them one day off and on bc I felt hungry I lost 2 lbs the next day. I know they are high in salt but besides that they have lots of iron and protein. You have to chew them real good and it takes time in between each one bc you have to crack the shells. Just wondering if its something I should be eating? -
I dont quite get you. You post a rather inflammatory question and then you say that you meant superior in terms of newbies not being allowed to view the R&R but the way you're talking definitely makes it sound like you mean exactly what I initially thought you meant and reacted to- that you're fed up with oldies who've lost all their weight thinking they're all that. Actually, there's quite a few points in Green's post that I can identify with. I've not been a perfect bandster by any stretch of the imagination and I've often said the first six months were so easy, I lost so much weight without even having to try, it just fell off. Since then I've had to battle. But I've never dieted, I dont count calories, I dont count protein, I eat what I want when I want and its just, well, worked. I run lots becuase I bloody love running, not because I've got superior willpower and determination. I've never said otherwise. I've been really lucky becuase I"ve lost weight on about 1500 calories a day, so its certainly been easier for me than it has for others. I've certainly learned a few things along the way and I've shared them. But I can think of about a thousand posts where I've mentioned my pretty slack and easygoing approach to weightloss and where I've told people that a binge is just that, and that you can simply get back on the wagon, but dont waste time beating yourself up over it. I just dont really understand what it is you're getting at. So you think oldies do think they're superior and that gets up your nose? Or you dont? If you do, I really dont think you've read enough of this forum.

Psa: Oopsie! One Million Birth Control Pill Packets Recalled
Formerly Fluffy posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Since pregnancy should be avoided the first year or 2 after WLS I wanted to share this article about the bc pill recall: Well ain’t that some ****?! ONE MILLION PFIZER BIRTH CONTROL pills RECALLED! Hope you all didn’t plan on those really working! Surprise! One Million Birth Control Pill Packets Recalled Filed under: Adverse Effects,Women’s Contraception,Women’s Health — Mike Mitka Improper packaging of certain birth control pills manufactured by Pfizer and sold under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand may leave women without adequate contraception, putting them at risk for unintended pregnancy. (Image: FDA) Pfizer is withdrawing a reported 1 million packets of birth control pills because errors in how the pills were packaged may put women at risk for unintended pregnancy. The company is recalling 14 lots each of Lo/Ovral-28 (norgestrel and ethinyl estradiol) Tablets and Norgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol Tablets (generic), intended for customers in the US market. The tablets were manufactured and packaged by Pfizer and marketed by Akrimax Rx Products under the Akrimax Pharmaceuticals brand. These products are packaged in blister packs containing 21 tablets of active ingredients and 7 tablets of inert ingredients. Adequate contraception depends on a woman taking the proper pills in a designated sequence. The products were distributed to warehouses, clinics, and retail pharmacies nationwide. In an investigation, Pfizer found that some blister packs may not contain the proper number of inert or active ingredient tablets and that some of the tablets might be out of sequence. As a result, the daily regimen for these oral contraceptives may be incorrect and could leave women without adequate contraception and at risk for unintended pregnancy. Pfizer said that women who took the recalled pills should begin using a nonhormonal form of contraception immediately and urged patients who have taken the recalled medications to notify their physicians and return any unused tablets to the pharmacy. Any adverse events that may be related to the use of these products should be reported to Akrimax Medical Information at 1-877-509-3935 (8 AM to 7 PM Central standard time, Monday through Friday) or to the US food and Drug Administration’s MedWatch Program either online, by regular mail, or by fax. For regular mail, use the postage-paid, preaddressed Form FDA 3500; to fax, dial 1-800-FDA-0178 (1-800-332-0178). Information about the lot numbers of the affected packets of birth control pills can be found here.- 8 replies

What Was The Worst... (Newbie Here!)
sarahr0 replied to Alexis's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
congrats! I had an excellent recovery process... I'm only 9 days post op and have felt amazing since day 1. I have had no pain and no problems keeping anything down. it has been the best decision of my life. I am 28 and my only regret is not doing it sooner! I wanted to do it now while I was young, only 100lb overweight, no health problems like high blood pressure or diabetes. I didn't wanna have to do in my 40s when I had all these problems. bc they all run in my family. I am down 24.2 from may 2... start of my liquid dust and 12lb from surgery day! it's crazy! I also went to two different seminars. I've been reading message boards and watching YouTube and have gained a ton of knowledge. luckily for me.. I didn't have to wait a long time... my insurance didn't require it. my initial dr appt was march 15 and I was sleeved may 16. I was on top of all my preop appts! honestly for me the hardest part was not being able to have any liquids day of surgery and also the barium for the X-ray. the only time I had to vomit was from that stuff :/ good luck and you'll do great -
SIPS / SADI-S LOOP DS SUPPORT
Sweetmel7 replied to jlofabulous's topic in Duodenal Switch Surgery Forum
Hi. I had the SIPS on 12/3/13. I was 268 and now I stay between 110-115. I keep a strict food regimen bc i know myself. I eat mostly Protein. Sometime vegetables but protein mainly. I do not eat peas, corn, sweet potatoes, potatoes, Pasta, sugar and bread. If I want something sweet I will buy a slice of SF cheesecake with no crust at a local bakery or i buy the chocolate sorbetto at red mango and put some almonds with a couple of raspberries and black berry's. The chocolate sorbetto at red mango is 4 grams of carbs for 4 oz. I drink alot of unsweetened homemade herbal tea this is what I love. My suggestion is place yourself in therapy before surgery bc it will definitely help you. I made sure i did prior to surgery then the therapist couldn't give me what I needed so found another therapist who is. If you have any questions please feel free to ask me. We are here to help each other. Sent from my SM-G930P using the BariatricPal App -
So my surgery was postponed to June 13th bc my scope showed a small ulcer. I'm still staying to cheer you all on and see how everyone is doing.

here is to 2021!!! I live in a very small town and I am not much on social media. I have kept my WLS on the down low, not because I am ashamed but because I am not looking for support or BS from anyone. My husband we into town today to the local cafe (gossip central) to pick up eggs that I forgot to get on my regular grocery run and the old gal who runs the place announced to the whole joint, during the morning coffee run, how sorry she was to hear about my illness. My husband said "she is feeling good but I will tell her your thinking of her" she carried on to ask him how many rounds I would need. He replied " I believe this will do it". The word is I am going though chemo, LOL. I am not telling them any different......let them talk. Chemo or weight loss surgery regardless, I am getting thin!!!! LOL

December Surgery Buddies!
Ashley1019 replied to AshleeHarvey's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I’m so fed up right now. Friday I had my final pre-op to get my meds before surgery on Wednesday 12/6/23 . Just to be told that my sleep study center hasn’t sent over a clean bill of health for me and according to the sleep study they don’t have anything to do with my surgery and it’s pulmonary that does and I haven’t seen them for anything and , my surgeon’s office has to request the letter for anything from sleep study and according to my surgeon’s office they will NOT request it bc it’s not their responsibility.🤦🏻♀️ on top of all that I just had to come up out of pocket $180 for meds the day before and after surgery. I’m stressing out and i am so mad as to why this was put off so long to get the release. I am I over reacting my husband seems to think so 😡 -
Are you are taking a Biotin pill? If so, what brand. In the past I had vitamin toxicity so I cant take too many vitamins. Don't laugh, but I take 2 Flintstone Multivitamin chewables w/extra iron, B12 tablet, and my regular meds...blood pressure, plavix, and cholesterol until I lose my weight. I'm anemic so I need the iron and these vitamins are really working well for me right now. I just dont want an overload bc of the consequences.
