  1. Can you please ACTUALLY put me on ignore this time instead of just saying you will?
  2. Congrats Katy!! Seriously well done! You're inspirational and fantastic!
  3. Wow...I didn't know that about cholesterol. The more you know, eh? What you're saying makes a lot of sense...I think there's a lot of that going on. The calories in and out thing is the thing that really interested me. I'd like to see if he'd do a high nutrition (with plenty of food), low calorie diet and compare it to a low nutrition, high calorie diet (less eating) and test his metabolism and the rate his weightloss slows down.

    Excess skin??

If it's any constillation my boobs look really funny at the moment. I'm 22 and they are sagggyyyy. I don't mind though, with a good bra it's fixed. and they're fun to play with now because they're so silly lol.

    Excess skin??

I wish I could help...I've only lost 15 kilos so far (was banded less than 2 months ago) but my body is actually a lot tighter than it was before. One member here talked about having lose skin at one stage. Her name is 'Jachut' on here and she's very honest about how her body looks: LAP-BAND I think she looks amazing and she knows a lot about loose skin. It might be worth sending her a comment about it. I think at one stage she said that no amount of crunches will get rid of belly skin. She seems to know her stuff.

I was thinking the same thing when I joined. The blue cupcake really made me hungry. I just blocked the ads from coming up.

2nd fill down AND I lost!

You may have to replace the batteries for it. The other day my scales told me I put on 10 kilos, so I changed the batteries and it was accurate again. I've lost 6 kilos since my last fill (besides the one yesterday) and when I finally did get my scales working (I'd tried it on 3 different scales) it said I'd lost 2 kilos more than the scales at the surgery. I have a spare set of scales that I hardly ever use because they're hard to turn on, the other is the one I use often and I tried my friend's ones too...They all said the same thing but the surgery ones had put on 2 kilos. They say that every scale is different but I'd tried mine on 3 different scales and it was all the same and the one at the surgery was 2 kilos heavier. They also said that the scales costed 2k and they were incredibly accurate...I dunno what to think...Do they want me to feel insecure about myself so I lose more weight? Isn't that what they used to do in gyms in the 80's? lol. They'd hike up the kilos to make you think you'd put on? I had the same thing yesterday. He always has to take out the needle and then put it back in again >.< It feels like I'm being stabbed. My port is apparently very deceptive.
  13. Refined sugar can be addictive. It takes about 6 weeks of being off of it to really get it out of your system. It sounds silly, I know, but having that little sip of soda every now and then could be keeping an addiction to refined sugar active. Here's some pointers that mgiht determine if you have a problem with refined sugar: 1. If you don’t get your regular dose of sugar, are you irritable and cranky? Have you ever taken a long flight and realized you didn’t have the bag of sweets that you thought you had packed? Did you start counting the minutes until the beverage cart came down the aisle so you could get a sugar sweet soda (and whatever else they had)? Have you ever been short tempered with a loved one because you were overdue for your afternoon tea and Cookies? 2. Have you ever tried to cut down or control your use of sweet foods? Are you able to eat just one? If you buy a package of cookies, how long do they last? Have you ever tried to ration out your sugar filled foods, saying that you would only eat one a day, or one per meal, but that one always turns into two, three, four…? 3. Are you using more sweet foods than ever before? Where before you would buy the regular sized bag of chocolates at the drugstore, do you now seek out the bulk size at the warehouse store? When you are shopping in the mall for business clothes, do you have one eye on the lookout for a sweet and/or gourmet coffee shop? 4. Have you ever lied about how much sweet food you eat? Do you ever buy sugar filled food (remember, sugar is in fast food, bread, salad dressing, regular soda, and most processed foods in general) and eat it, throwing out the container before anyone else knows about it? Have you ever eaten your children’s Halloween candy and when they ask where the extra went you say that you had to go through it again and throw out any pieces that appeared unsafe? 5. Have you ever gone out of your way to get something sweet? Have you ever been on the way to an appointment and gone to a drive through, just making it to the appointment with no time to spare? Have you ever been settled in at home and gone out to a 24-hour grocery store late at night just to get a fix of your favorite ice cream? 6. Have you ever gotten upset when someone ate your special food? Have you ever come home after a long day at work only to find that your favorite food (that you were looking forward to eating all day) is gone, because one of your family members ate it? Did you do your best to seem unaffected while on the inside you were furious and frustrated (and anxiously thinking about what else there was to eat)? 7. Have you ever felt that you had a sugar hangover? Have you ever binged on your favorite sweets at night, gone to bed because they made you so sleepy, and woken up stumbling about as if you had been out drinking? Was your fuzzy head or a headache immediately relieved as soon as you ate your bagel and jelly? 8. Have you ever binged on sweet or white flour foods? Have you ever baked Christmas cookies for a family gathering and ended up eating so many that you had to bake an entire new batch? Have you ever bought a box of chocolates for a gift and bought an extra one for you, only to eat the whole box in one sitting? 9. Is it impossible to “just say no” to sweet foods? Can you turn down sweets at parties and focus on socializing instead? Are you able to keep sugar filled foods in the house without eating them? If there is a “food day” at work, can you opt out, or are you compelled to eat whatever is there? 10. Is sugar controlling your life? Does your life revolve around where your next sugar fix is coming from? Are you moody, anxious, and irritable based on how much sugar you either have had or haven’t had? Would you be embarrassed if anyone else knew how you answered these questions? Reference: Are You Addicted To Sugar? | The Fit Shack The truth is, most American consumers are so addicted to sugar that they will deny their addictions in the same way that a crack or heroin addict might. Same gioes with junk food and high calorie foods.
  14. You were such a beautiful person with a happy soul. My heart goes out to your family and friends.

will I loose my current friends?

To be honest I haven't told many people. The people I haven't told are the ones who I've dropped the hint to saying, "what do you think of lap-band surgery?" and they'd say something like, "it doesn't work blah blah blah" so I've just sort of hidden that from them. I'll probably tell them when I've lots all of my weight. The ones I have told are usually supportive, the ones that aren't are no longer my friends because they don't respect my personal decision to become healthy. Anyone who is jealous or hateful of you for wanting to become healthy is not a good friend. My best friend has just had liposuction and lost 15 kilos or something...I've lost that much in under 2 months by working my ASS OFF and she tries to give me stupid weightloss advice. It pisses me off, so I just ignore it.

How do I deal with my friend???

Do you feel like if you get the band she'll disrespect you? If you're getting that feeling then she doesn't sound like a very good friend. She needs to respect your opinions and your choices, just as I'm sure, you respected hers. There's actually more risks getting the bypass than with the band - so let her know that and let her know that you will make a decision on what you think is best for you. Just because it was right for her to get it done, doesn't mean it's right for you In the end it's your body and your decision and she needs to respect that. I think she's only worrying about you, but it might be a bit annoying.

    Period after surgery?

I have an Implanon and after having 2 years of not having periods, they've come back after I've lost weight. You become more fertile after you lose weight, so it might have something to do with your hormones.

To Fill or Not to Fill

If you're happy with the amount of food a day you're eating, then you won't need one. At the end of the day, it's about how you feel and no one else can really determine that besides you. If you feel satisfied after a meal for a good amount of time then it seems you've probably got enough in your band as it is.

    Rockin the protein shake

Mmm! Such a good idea. My shakes taste like absolute garbage, so I put a spoonful of yogurt and some frozen berries in there and blend. This is a great idea too!
  20. Hey there, There's an amazing forum on here specifically for recipees. I look there when I've got no ideas for dinner: Cooking, Baking and recipes - LAP-BAND You can also look here for recipes that includes foods under 200 calories p/s Diet Recipes Under 200 Calories 200 Calories or Less per Serving Recipes - Allrecipes.com Good luck to you! Let me know if you find anything awesome :-)
  21. Two weeks after banding usually means you can start exercising. This is incredibly important to lose weight. Ask your surgeon if you can start doing exercise that will help you. If it's hard to exercise, I recommend aqua aerobics. The eating side of things is only a small portion of the work. If you've already been exercising, switch it up a bit and change what you're doing. Make sure you continue to do that every 3 or 4 weeks. You may also be in a plateau stage. This usually comes at around 2-4 weeks after starting new eating habits. Let it pass and be patient. If you're already exercising, you may be making muscle, to which point you'd be past the Water weight stage so you wouldn't be losing as much. Putting on weight is rare but not impossible. Your body may just be making more muscle, which will assist you in your next round after the plateau stage. Are you feeling satisfied when you eat? It could be that you need a fill, in which case you'll probably have to wait until the 4th week, which is fine...It just means you'll have to control what you eat more. 600 calories isn't good for someone recovering from surgery, so I'd say to increase that and take a multi-Vitamin (liquid form) everyday. Keep at it. You have a whole forum here to support you and give you advice. The band is just a tool and if you use it right, it will change your life. The band only does 1/4 of the work, so you'll have to make a big amount of effort which I believe you can do. You can do it! Cheers. P.S: you may be one of those people who lose weight slowly. This means your body is smart :-) but it can be annoying if you want to lose weight quick. The best thing about having a body that loses weight slowly is that the weight is more likely to stay off!
  22. Ohhh...It really is just apple sauce It's so popular here, I thought it was some magical superfood that everyone besides me had with everything. 'Sauce' to me is what you'd call 'ketchup' :-D
  23. I often here people using applesauce. What is that stuff? It sounds delicious.
  24. I've been avoiding crushing pills like crazy I try to get a liquid form of everything and it's been working so far. I got an Implanon so I don't have to take birth control pills, but I've had it for ages...Might be worth getting one of those? They're amazing for some people but crap for others. Could be worth a try
