    Hungry

Do your liquids include protein shakes? I had my revision the same as yours on the 13th - having 2 shakes per day plus soft foods. Oatmeal for breakfast, creamed potato soup for lunch, and fat free refried beans - all 2 ounces. I am keeping full with this little bit of food.

    Revision

I had the band to sleeve revision this week. Once my stomach healed I never felt full / satisfied from the band. The full-o-meter never worked like it was supposed to. I am hoping for better from the sleeve - I can’t keep gaining because I am taking years off my life.

    14-day Pre-op Starts Today

Last day of pre-op for me ... nothing but clear liquids. I had water water water, 2 - 8 oz. glasses of crystal light, and a cup of sugar free jello. Surgery tomorrow- can’t sleep sinus congestion 😟.
  6. I am having sinus / allergy stuffy head, runny nose, etc. 2 days before surgery. Wondering if I have to postpone? I sure hope not ... disappointed.

    Partner/ spouse support

My BF is not fully supportive either. He says I will lose weight and dump him ... that is in his head.

I HATE I GOT THIS STUPID SURGERY!

Just curious - are you having complications that prevent you from getting in the protein. Are you on shakes? I am having surgery on the 13th ... this post is an eye opener.
  9. My surgery is scheduled on November 13th. The nurse practitioner I saw at the surgeon's office said I could be off up to 6 weeks - so I am going to take the 6 weeks and let my body and mind heal. I have enough PTO and don't feel the need to rush back to the office.

    Pre surgery diet

It seems like the pre-op diet varies by doctor. Mine is 2 shakes per day plus a low fat meal - low fat meat and vegetables (no carbs). I am on day 2 - day 1 was bad for me I ate stuff not on my list. Today I ate according to the plan.

    November Surgery

I am taking off 6 weeks - I have 13 weeks in my sick bank and lose them when I retire in 2021. Actually I am on vacation now - for 2 weeks before surgery days I would lose if not taken. Total off work 8 weeks .

    November Surgery

My surgery date is November 13th = revision from lap band to gastric sleeve. I start my 2 week pre-op diet tomorrow 😟. 2 protein shakes and lean meat w/non-starchy vegetables.
  13. I got the and in 2010 and it didn’t work for me. I am now considering the sleeve.
  14. I had my surgery in November 2010 and the weight started to come off quickly up to around 40 pounds then it stopped. I have not had a fill in a while because I think it is tight enough as food can easily get stuck. I don't feel like I am restricted other than the when something gets stuck ... but I feel like I can eat as much as I want. I recently joined weight watchers which defeats the whole point of having the band. What should I do?

    Purebred Longhaired German Shepherd

It seemed more like an unjustified rant to me ... I am a responsible pet owner and can afford to properly care for the ones I have. I think you missed my entire point.

No Weight Loss at 5 months post-op

I started using sparkpeople.com again yesterday ... for some reason I own what I eat much better when I record it. I also walked yesterday for the first time in almost 2 months and it felt good. Hopefully I am getting back on track so I can get the weight loss started again.

    Purebred Longhaired German Shepherd

Lucky you on the dog. I would love to have a purebred shepherd. I have a beautiful picture of one on my bulletin board that I admire ... maybe someday I can be as lucky as you and find one cheap or free.
  18. I am back here for motivation. I followed this website religiously 6 months prior to my surgery and for the first 3 or 4 months after the surgery. I quit reading about the success and failures and stopped losing weight and exercising. I walked 2 miles last night which was the first exercise i have done since I went to a conference the 2nd week in April. I had actually gained 2 pounds when I went to the doctor last month but since getting the last fill I think my food intake has decreased some. I had hoped with the band there would be less of a struggle ... but the struggle is still there. I am starting to record what I eat again also ... so I can own what I'm eating and have a good picture of where I'm possibly going wrong.
  19. I totally agree w/Fran you and I can do this . ! It took me 3 months before I would even attempt to do the E word ... but I can say that it is actually causing me to lose because I had stalled.
  20. I can't believe they will not give you a fill if you feel like you are overeating. When I go for my monthly doctor visits we talk about how much you can eat at a sitting ... they ask can you eat more than a specific size plate, are you drinking your calories, are you taking your Vitamins, are you exercising. If I am losing 1 - 2 pounds per week I don't get a fill ... if not I have gotten a fill. I don't have the sweets craving you talk about but I have one restaurant that I can't go past w/o stopping for desert ... yesterday I stopped and got a piece of pecan pie only. I ate half the pie yesterday and will finish it off today. The last time I had something sweet was 2 weeks ago.
  21. It is great to see the big numbers of weight loss many people are having. I think I may be filled at a good level now as I had lost 5 pounds during the last 2.5 weeks when I went to the doctor on Monday. I didn't get a fill and hope the loss continues. I'm curious how much exercise people are doing. I just started my exercise a couple of weeks ago of either walking on the treadmill or riding my recumbent bike 20 - 30 minutes per day. I am hoping to increase the time I spend exercising by moving my exercise time from before work to after.
  22. I get confused the more I read here since there are many ways people describe if their band is working. At my fill at the end of February my nutritionist told me the band should be what lets me know it is time to stop eating and if my fill wasn't working to come back before my next appointment at 3/31. I went in for another fill on 2/11 which worked for a day or 2 but I am back to where I was with a total of 3.5 in a 10 cc band. I still don't think I have that situation yet others have where the band is working and feel I still could potentially overeat. My weight loss during the month of February was only 1 or 2 pounds. I am using an 8.5" paper plate for my meals at home and I eat the entire plate and feel full afterwords most of the time. A typical evening meal for me usually includes 3 - 4 ounces of meat (chicken, pork loin, shredded beef, for fish), a lettuce salad, and a carb (most often potatoes). Breakfast most days is 1 serving of steel cut oats with walnuts, raisins, and splenda after my morning exercise (20 - 30 minutes on either recumbent bike or treadmill). lunch is often homemade Soup, chicken or tuna salad (salads may include egg, mayo, relish, celery, (chicken salad only):nuts, waterchesnuts, green onions, grapes) with crackers. I just started my most consistent exercise routine last week and managed to exercise 5 days out of 7 and I lost almost 2 pounds during this same time period. I am hoping to be able to lose 5 - 10 pounds per month consistently over the next 6 months without sacrificing my hair due to the lack of Protein. For those who are only able to eat a few bites ... how do you get enough protein to remain healthy?
  23. Wow ... 2 weeks back to liquids would make me never want a fill. I wonder why there is no consistency between docs when they use the same band. My doc says liquids for 24 hours after a fill.
  24. I am so glad I came back to the Nov 2010 forum because I see that there are many others in my same predicament ... slow weight loss if any and little / no restriction most of the time. I have had 2 fills ... 1 cc each time and have another scheduled for the 28th of Feb. I have only lost 2 pounds in the last 3 weeks. Now that the harsh winter weather is about to end I am hopeful that I can get some walking in to get some exercise. My knees hurt so bad don't know that I can do more unless it is very low impact.

LOOKING FOR BANDERS IN THEIR 50'S!!!

I was banded on November 19th and for for when I went for my first fill at 6 weeks I was told that the body was still healing and there was most likely still swelling causing any restriction I may have been having. From the first fill on January 3rd and my 2nd fill on January 31st my food intake increased as the healing continued so I got a 2nd fill for a total of 2 CC. I'm saying all this to let you know that your body is still healing and you can expect your intake to most likely increase until you are healed. I don't use a cup to measure my food like some folks do ... i don't think the magic 1 cup would work for me. My food fits on an 8.75" paper plate and I never need 2nd's anymore which is a big improvement from before surgery. My nutritionist told me there is no magic # of calories or diet they expect me to follow. They recommend a balanced meal which I do sometimes and sometimes not. My Breakfast this morning was 2 slices of bacon, 1 scrambled egg, and some home fried potatoes. For lunch I had 4 hot wings from KFC, mashed potatoes, and a small salad w/light dressing. In addition I have had 10 oz of diet mountain dew, and 24 o of Water. My supper will consist of a small bowl of homemade vegetable beef Soup I have in the crock pot and a piece of cornbread.
