  1. I completely agree with all the prior posts, but wanted to add that you are still in recovery. You may be feeling better, but allow this time for your body to completely heal. The weight loss will come in time. I remind myself that it took a lifetime for me to gain....I can't expect it to be gone overnight. Slow losses are usually permanent ones...with the occassional bump in the road....4 lbs a week leads to 16 a month to 192 in a year. Just a different way to look at things. Stay positive...Oh' and are you doing measurements?? I literally saw inches melt away when the scale wasn't moving....muscle weighs more than fat. Good luck on your continued journey. YOU CAN DO THIS!!

    Dear Fairy Godmother...

I found this on another Blog, I thought it was well stated...I hope this helps answer one of your questions. "You must increase your protein and lower your carb intake in order to lose the proper amount of weight and/or shrink your liver during the pre-op phase. Glucose stored in the liver is called glycogen. Glycogen is like your backup fuel. When the body is deprived of carbs, glycogen is yanked from your liver, forcing your body to burn fat, causing your liver to shrink. If your surgeon is not able to move the liver out of the way, your surgery could get cancelled. Depending on your insurance plan, you might not get another chance." Best of Luck, Christy

    confused

Wow, 26 lbs in a month...OUTSTANDING...keep up the great work. I didn't really honestly see the weight loss in myself until about 40 lbs...of course everyone else noticed. Maybe we are little harder on ourselves, or we are in denial that the scale is going down. Now when I look back at pictures I really see the difference...hmm I know I had a hard time with self image and allowing myself to embrace my losses. Your doing great...keep up the great work...and celebrate. Embrace the new you that is emerging!

Why haven't i lost any weight yet.......Just inches!

I did this many times along my journey, which is why I tell everyone to make sure you log not only your weight but your inches. Especially if your excercising, because muscle weighs more than fat...but it will eventually catch up and you will start seeing a loss again. Your whole body is changing during this process. Celebrate all of your successes, not just the ones on the scale but on the measuring tape as well. Your doing great, keep it up and stay strong!!

    Hello!

Welcome to the journey Korilynn...this is a great site for information and support. Good luck to you as you begin your new life. I can't say its been easy, but getting the Lapband saved my life and changed it forever. Its helped change my 3 grown childrens habits...so hopefully they will never have to face the same problems I had prior to surgery. If you have any questions this is a great forum. Best Wishes, keep us informed of your progress!! ~Christy :frown:

    hair loss

I lost alot of hair about my 4th month....I would talk to your Doctor...maybe even do a Blood Draw to see where all your Vitamin levels are at. Most likely your not getting the proper amount of protein though....very common.

    Just thoughts: Who defines "overweight"?

Not everyone "fits" into the broad spectrum of the BMI Chart. My Doctor took all my physical attributes when deciding what weight was good for me. I'm 5'8, and with the help of my Lapband have lost 130 lbs. I'm a very lean 168 lbs...according the Charts still overweight, but my Doc says I don't need to lose anymore. I recommend to everyone to not define what your ideal weight should be, just by the BMI Chart...but also consult your Doctor. Best of Luck!!

    flu coughing and the band

I can't speak for the coughing, but if your feeling nauseated or vomitting (or dry heaves) call your Doctor for medication...and if needed unfill your band. I just had a horrible experience with the Flu which landed me in the ER for 2 days on IV Phenergan, slipped band on the 3rd day...Emergency Surgery...and 3 days in the hospital after surgery. I didn't think my band could slip so far out, almost 18 months for me. Its just not worth having to go through something so traumatic. Hope you get feeling better soon!!
  15. I suggest trying a different protein drink...its so important, and will really help to keep you satisfied so you don't feel like your starving. There are so many different brands out there...so don't give up. The liquid phase is the toughest, it does get better. Stay strong...YOU CAN DO THIS, and soon you will be on your way and this will be a distant memory. Good luck....it will get better! ~Christy

    Hot & Cold

Love this post....I am going through the same thing...its like my body temperature has a broken thermostat, and doesn't know what to do. I moved to WA in May...used to live in NV (was always HOT) and when we went back to Vegas, NV to visit my son it was 95 outside and I was perfectly comfortable in the heat...it was perfect. Winter is approaching here in Seattle, WA and I'm walking around feeling like a popsicle 99% of the time. Guess we will see how this all pans out :cursing:) Best of luck to you! ~Christy

    Third Week and Hungry

If your constantly hungry...look at what you are eating...protein is so important, and definetely helps keep you satisfied between meals. Also look at your calories, I stalled out because I wasn't getting enough nutrition. I realized that your body needs fuel to burn. Personally for me, I need about 1100 calories a day, or I plateau and won't lose an ounce. Hope this helps some of you while your starting out your journey...Best of luck to all of you!! ~ Christy
  18. Are you measuring your food?? My Doc recommended 3oz or protein at each meal...and I find if I don't get my protein at each meal I'm starving in between. I hope you find your sweet spot soon!! Best wishes!!

    Upper GI question

Every time I have this test done...constipation something awful. It also makes me a little nauseated...just because it tastes so bad. Best of luck!!
