Becca got a reaction from Jensukisses in Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon
My surgeon is Dr. Nowzaradan and I am having my surgery at University General Hosptial. My doctor was featured on TLC/ Discovery, as he performed weight loss surgery on the Half Ton Teen. I really like him and his staff is very caring! He is a revision specialist, so that was very important to me since I have lapband complications. I will let you know more after my revision.

Becca got a reaction from BabySheldon in The slimes.... can anyone explain them?
I get the "slimes" when I eat hamburger meat. My sleeve just does not like it and it usually comes back up. Sometimes I can eat it, but I do get lots of slimy stuff that kind of sits in my throat. If it comes back up, it is not the same as throwing up. It is literally the food covered in a clear slime. Gross, but true. I will take it though for this great life I now have being healthy!

I believe God made the sleeve possible. Obesity is a serious medical issue and treating it is no different than any other surgery. The sleeve really is a life changing miracle that will allow you to do great things with your life in a new way.

Becca got a reaction from 2notbwinded in Worried Sleeve Won't Rid My Uncontrollable Hunger!!!
I can totally relate to your story. In fact, before surgery, I went crazy with food and put on about 10 pounds because I was thinking I would never be able to eat this or that again. I will say that the surgery has changed everything for me. For once in my life, food isn't on my mind all the time. I am in control. Head hunger is still there, but for the most part, I can control it. I can't overeat with my sleeve and honestly I really don't want to. It feels good to eat what your body needs, rather than stuffing yourself until you are sick. I am so happy. It is so amazing to watch yourself shrink, to receive compliments about losing weight, and to have to buy new clothes. I wish you the best and I really do think the sleeve is an amazing gift!

    Hi there,
I am about to have a band to sleeve revision (lapbands are not what they told us it would be). Tiffykins posted a link that was very helpful to me when I was researching that had articles and posts from people two-five years out. I wish I knew what the title was for you to search it. I am sure if you messaged her, she will give you the info. I would do some more reseach before you give up. The way I see it, if they are already in there cutting the band out, they might as well give me a smaller stomach! Good luck and hang in there~

Of course we will support you! I think it is great for us to be there for each other. I wanted to thank you for sharing this. Today was NOT a good day for me since I was around some amazing food at my inlaws. I was snacking all day and I ate way too much. Seeing this is helping ME get back on track too. I know you can do this! Congrats on your baby boy!

Becca got a reaction from PEvette in Eating Out -- What Do You Eat?
I never order an entire meal. I tend to overeat when I do and feel sick. I order items a la carte or share with my hubby if he is there. I order a cup of Soup a lot too. Some restaurants are WLS friendly. Red Lobster will let you just order a side of crab legs if you tell them you are a WLS patient. The hard part of eating out for me is all in my head. I "think" I want to order a normal portion, but I just can't eat it. I know to just order the smaller portions since I am not a big fan of leftovers. The waiters can be a big pain though! They always think something is wrong. It gets annoying to deal with.

I hated the band, but the sleeve has been amazing! I do have to choose to eat well. I can easily eat lots of junk, but I eat Protein instead. The only thing I have issues with is fried foods, which is a good thing for me. On occasion, I will have something I really want. Moderation is the key. I use my scale as my accountability tool. If the scale goes up at all, I cut all carbs. Right now, I just count my protein and I have been maintaining a normal weight for four months.

Hugs! I know how you feel. I was terrified right before surgery, especially since i have three kids. Most of my family was totally against the surgery. I really think they thought I wouldn't make it. You are doing the right thing to give the gift of the sleeve to yourself. It is going to change your life is so many wonderful ways. Right now, you need to focus on YOU. Heal yourself. Later on, you can evaluate the relationships in your life. You are going to do great on Monday. We will be here to cheer you on! You know in your heart why you are about to have surgery. I can tell you, the sleeve is amazing. Just hang in there and know you are making a great choice.

Hi I jsut got my band to sleeve revision on May 29th. Recovery is good so far and I'm looking foward to going on this journey with other band to sleevers. I only lost 25 lbs with the band so I'm worried the sleeve won't work either but I'm following the plan well so far so hopefully i'll get to goal. I didn't have any problems with the band, it jus didn't control my apetite. My doctor said they sleeve would help with hunger so I'm hoping he's right. So far I've had no hunger bit its only been a few days since surgery.
I also noticed the side effect that i'm not "hot" all the time anymore. I saw that someone else posted about this and its true! I love this side effect, especially since its summer in Texas for me!
I look foward to getting to meet ya'll :-)

If you make the right choices, you will lose the weight. I had some periods of very slow weight loss during my journey. I just kept going and I did make it to a normal weight. The sleeve has been one of the best decisions of my life. Best wishes!

Becca got a reaction from LilMissDiva Irene in Band To Sleeve In Single Surgery?
I had my revision surgery 14 months ago. I had many band complications. It basically shattered apart and slipped. I had my band for 3 and a half years and I was still morbidly obese. My doctor did the band removal and sleeve all at once. I believe the surgery was around an hour. I did wake up in pain, as I did not get a pain pump. As soon as I got meds in my IV, I was fine. I love my sleeve. I am a normal weight. Sure the first three weeks are difficult, but so worth it. My life is so much brighter. I have energy to be a better teacher, mother, and wife. I would do it all again to have the life I have now.

Just packed my bag for the hospital. I have to be at the hospital at 8am, so glad that it is so early. This clear liquid diet is a killer and I was afraid I would be waiting around till the afternoon. I was really nervous but I just got off the phone with a friend that I don't see very often, she said "the next time we get together you'll be a skinny Minnie" .... Just the thought of that being a possibility made me very excited!! Still so glad I found this forum a few Weeks ago, I,have learned so much and knew exactly what to put in my hospital bag!!

I had my lapband done in Mexico and I got all sorts of crazy reacations from people. I actually loved it when I went and had a great time! It was fun seeing another country. I had my revision to the sleeve done at home because my insurance started paying for WLS. If they hadn't covered it, I would have gone back to Mexico. You will do great. You are only there are few days and then you will be home and have the wonderful sleeve. We are here for you. Best wishes!

The sleeve is totally different than the band. The band was just a big joke for me. It never really worked and I was still morbidly obese after 3 and a half years. The sleeve changed my life. It did take me 14 months to get to normal weight, but I got there. I am so happy. Personally, my food obsession has been drastically reduced from the surgery. Food doesn't run my life anymore. I do! You should try the sleeve and I do think you can be successful! The sleeve works.

I can totally relate. I was so happy to get the band out. I still get so angry at how they market the band so much when it has such a high failure rate. Congrats on your sleeve. You will LOVE it.
