    Survived

I had a Morphine pump that I could press when I felt pain. But I kept forgetting to press it. they sent me home with Tylenol 3 in liquid form. Didn't use it much. Didn't have a ton of pain

I DID IT, I DID IT, I DID IT!!!!!

Good job. You should feel amazing.
  3. I'm doing great everyone. Hey when do you guys take your prilosec. My pharmacist put on my directions to take two before a meal once a day. So i take them before I eat in the morning. Seems to work all day. Today I've had sort of a sour stomach. I had an egg and slice of toast and I think I overate. then later in the day I thought I needed a bite of cheese pizza. That didn't go over too well. I was already feeling a rumbly in my tummy all day. Darn head hunger is what I'm combating. I need to still work on that. Dr. Le gave me the thumbs up the other day. Said I'm doing great. I'm his "lightweight" and he told me it wouldn't be easy but he had confidence that I'd use this tool to the max. I know I will. I've lost 17 lbs since surgery on January 5th. I'm so glad I went through this. The first week to 10 daysI wasn't so sure. But I'm happy I got through everything ok and that I'm doing good. OH, my skirt falls off now.
  4. I personally wouldn't get a sleeve for a 25 lb loss. I know we all have our own decisions to make. Do you have high bp, high cholesterol, sleep apnea, diabetes, or any other conditions? If you don't have insurance, it's a very expensive process. that's just my personal opinion. I don't know if they'd even do a sleeve surgery on a BMI of 30. With that said, my doctor thought I might try it on my own, too, and I had for years. Only to fail. I was 100 lbs overweight with high bp, hypothyroid, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and couldn't lose weight for anything. I was sleeved on January 5th and I'm down 17.5 lbs since surgery. I had full coverage insurance, so it was 100% paid. I don't regret a day that's gone by.
  5. You guys are all doing great. I'm at day 13 and I'm down 14 lbs since surgery. I'm so happy. I bent over to pick up clothes and put them in washer, swept the floor and some other things that I thought were minimal, but my biggest incision site was sore all day, so today I'm laying low. No picking up anything or bending. I'm feeling amazing though. Walked for 4 hours at the mall on Saturday and I swear that let the kinks out. I don't know if my organs settled, or what (haha) but I have felt amazing since then. Family wanted to go to Chinese buffet on Sunday. I was reluctant to go. At first kinda sad. But once I got there and told the waiter I wasn't eating, I busted out my Protein shake. I felt liberated at that point. Happy that everyone else in the restaurant was stuffing their face with crap and I didn't. On a "normal diet" I might have cheated and then it would have shown up on the scale. Yeah me for the non scale victory over food.

    18 year old sleeve surgery

I too love food and was sleeved 12 days ago. It has been tough physically but I feel amazing today. I have gone through a couple of mentally challenging days. But yesterday we all went to Chinese buffet. At first I was upset and didn't want to go. But while I was drinking my protein shake, I all of a sudden felt an overwhelming sense of satisfaction and liberation. Everyone else was feeding their gave with horrible food and I was down 13.5 lbs since surgery. You'll get through it-one victory at a time
  7. How are you doing? Haven't talked to you in quite a while. I'm sleeved now. Have been for 12 days

  8. I'm over the burning feeling now 9 days out. Today I was in mourning over food sorta. Strange, but I woke up hungry. And couldn't eat too much of course. Took awhile for the feeling to go away. I have cried twice since my surgery. I mean really hard. Hormones running wild. I'm getting stronger every day. I'm looking forward to my doctor visit on Wednesday with Dr. Le. I hope he starts me on Stage 3 foods cuz I am really craving fish and cheese. Odd. How is everyone else doing? I'm down 11 lbs since surgery on the 5th. I guess that's what not eating and losing half your stomach does. ha ha I'm still tired, but not as bad as the first week. Well, talk soon.
  9. So today, 9 days post op, I am having a hard time mentally. I woke up hungry for the first time, and feeling blue cuz I miss food right now. I know it's only temporary, but it's hard. Lots of willpower. Anyone else go through this?

  10. Today I'm a week post op. I've lost track of how much I've lost. I hit Onederland already. I started this at 219.2 lbs. Surgery day I was 207.5 Today I am 199.5. I can't believe. Course I don't feel so small right now. Still bloated. I walked 10 blocks today. But I had a meltdown yesterday. Cried all afternoon. Anyone else ever go through that? I'm so happy to be sleeved. I'm looking forward to the new me.

    8-1/2 mths postop from Sleeve

Dawn, amazing. I am one week out. I've lost 7 since surgery. I just made Onederland. WOW. I too am on thyroid meds. Also high bp; high cholesterol, antidepressants, and sleep apnea machine. I wan to rid as much of those as I can. Your story encourages me. Thanks.
  12. Kaiser does NOT recommend the following as Protein drinks Slim Fast Atkins Special K Protein Water Glucerna Boost Ensure They DO recmmend others and I will list a few here: unjury EAS Premium Protein Pro complex Isopure powder (Zero or Low Carb) Jay Robb Premier Protein shakes (Costco_) Those are just a few. Very important to cut carbs and sugars down. Hope it all works out.
  13. I'm 6 days post op and I'm on soft pudding type foods. liquid was only in the hospital for me. How long do you have to be on liquids? I'd say don't beat yourself up about it. Move on. But remember how it made you feel.

    Was that me?

    way to go
  15. Hi there. I just got sleeved on January 5. I'm feeling pretty good. I too was considering the lap band at first. But thecidea of a foreign body and other things turned me upwards the sleeve. I did much research. Sole searching, and asked tons of questions. For me, my doctor checked for leaks before I even woke up. The percentage is I believe 1 in 100 leaks. But I'm sure they'd quickly fix it. As far as hemorrhaging, during surgery there is always a possibly of significant blood loss as in any surgery. But that percentage is low as well. Were u reading of hemorrhaging later after surgery or during. I'm thnkjng I made a great choice. Keeps me restricted in over eating. I'm very excited for the new year and new me. Aloha, lisa

    tomorrow is the day!

Ditto what they said. You will do great. Here's to a new you.
  17. david, I'm not using much pain killer anymore. I had a slight headache last night before bed, so took some. But don't really need it much. My tummy feels like I got run over by a truck too. I'm doing well with the Stage II foods. I have tried sf pudding, sf Jello, chicken broth, Protein shakes (I have 30 g shakes so need to down 2 a day), sf applesauce, cream of chicken Soup diluted with Water, water with crystal light. I haven't been able to get 64 of of liquid in a day yet. But I'm still using the bathroom, so no dehydration. Sip, sip, sip. How are you doing on your Stage II? Have any tips for me? do you feel like bubbles or something in your tummy? It's like a bubble burn, but not a bad burn. Odd to explain. I'm sure it's because we had 2/3 of our stomach removed. Dr. Le was amaziing. I had Moreen for a nurse quite a bit. Loved her. And Christina, and Evelyn, and Irish. Great staff. Keep in touch. If you want to email me, my email is panchoandlisa@att.net
  18. <My doctor told me the Gas X strips don't work on the gas coming out of your body from the anesthisia. That is the gas that is moving around. I think today it feels lots better. Question: I'm 4 days passed being sleeved. when I lay down sometimes I feel a burning in my tummy, I guess like heart burn. I'm on prisolec. I guess maybe it's from having my stomach operated on. Any light on this? Anyone else experience this? DAVID, how are you friend? You looked amazing at the hospital. When did you end up going home? The next day or day after? I stayed two nights. I didn't really want to go home. I haven't had a good night's rest since surgery. I keep waking up. Not in pain. the only pain I'm in is at one of the surgical sights to the left of my belly button. I think it was the biggest cut. Just feels like a pulled muscle, so not really Pain. Just annoying. I took a shower and did my hair. Put my jewelry on. I feel amazing.
  19. You seem to be doing great. Don't sweat the stall. You will get passed it.

  20. OK so I'm sleeved. I did it. I had an amazing staff of doctors, nurses, aids, etc. It was yet again, another super experience with Kaiser. I had my surgery 8 am Wed the 5th and checked out on the 7th. I'm glad to be home, however I feel like my hubby and little daughter are talking too loud. I just want quiet. Probably cuz in the hospital there was a kid across the hall who was screaming practically the whole time. he had been shot twice. Anyway, I used the pain meds, but dec...

WTG. I was sleeved on the 5th. I used pain meds only because I was so out of it and thought I needed them. Then they made me nauseous. I'm glad to be home, but was super sad to leave this one nurse whom I was quite fond of. I've been walking around the house. On solids already. I think I'm glad I went through this. hahha
  23. I'm home. It went well. I had an amazing doctor and staff and nurses. I got sleeved on January 5th and came home the 7th. I've slept on and off. Washed my hair last night. It was horrid. I've just had some major gas issues. Trying to pass it. ETC. So here I am starting a new life. Weird. But I'm happy. any questions for me, ask away. Aloha, Lisa Saw my buddy SFDavid in the hospital too. He looked GREAT.
  24. David, I'll see you on the other side. Thanks.
