    40 Inch Bougie!

A 40 bougie is the size of a sharpie pen and is a fairly commonly used size. I believe that is the only size Kaiser uses. You and I were pretty much at the same place when we had surgery I was 208 BMI 38.9 on the day of surgery. I too got a 40 fr and today almost two year later I bounce between 138-145.
  2. I agree around the second month is when I really started to notice mostly what I started to notice was loose skin and the feel of my body noticing bones and how small my tighs started to feel in the shower. It took longer for my eyes to catch up.

    Fitbit

I love my bodybugg and think it is far superior to the fitbit. The activity manager doesn't just calculate your steps but will also tell you what you typically burn in a 24hr period so you know what you daily average is and can calculate your calorie intake.

    Hot Flashes When Eating?

You may want to try some soy supplements to see if they help. Fat is where we store estrogen so while you are losing rapidly your levels can go a little bunkers. It should settle down once your wright and diet stablizes.

    Low Weight Loss

I averaged 10 lbs a month so 58 lbs in 4 months sounds fantastic to me. Do you have any medical insurance? Your regular doctor can certainly monitir your iron, calcium, d ect. As far as vitatmins I take a multi, calcium and a d3 along with a b complex daily and a b12 three times a week. You need to be sure you get your protein in.

    Curious..

Dr Lyass in S.Ca 8-24-10. My starting BMI was 38 preop weight 218 now two years later I bounce between 138-145.
  7. You are still early out. It takes about 6 months for everything to heal and adjust to the sleeve. Walking helps a lot. You may be eating too fast or a spoon full too many. I would get hicups if I just hicupped when I was full. You'll get the hang of it.
  8. The first week was rough for me but I think a big part of it was actually the cold turkey caffiene withdrawls. I was pretty deligent about getting my protein/fluids in and getting up and walking even if it was just walk through house several times a day. I went home with a drain which I kept for nine days (very untypical post op) but it really wasn't much of an issue. It will be two years next month and I still love my sleeve. My weight has stayed stable I bounce up and down maybe 5 pounds. I still have to watch what I eat and exercise but it is so much easier. If I am going to a party or something I'll eat something with high protein like a hard boiled egg and I can walk away from temptation. I still drink a protein shake every morning (I do a little doctoring and love them).

    Does Anyone Have Any Regrets?

Like many of the others I wish I could have had it sooner. Its the best thing I have ever done for myself. A magic bullet it isn't but it is a great tool.
  10. Apparent she is doing a reality show and the surgery is going to be addressed. As far as money I don't think she has as much as you'd think. I just hope this is some ratings thing.
  11. When I first heard it I was sure she had DS or possibly the sleeve I was kind of shocked that they'd do the lapband. I seem to remember that Sharon Osborne went that route and recently had the band emoved.
  12. So what do the twats at universary have to say now? Or are their jaws still on the ground from seeing how great you look?

  13. Ugh the puppy ate my note! Okay we'll try this again. Until you reach goal you should stay away from it. For me with the exception of ice cream foods with refined sugars do not seem to trigger a feeling of restriction so they are easy to overeat. I do indulge once in a while but make sure that I eat some dense protein first so that I am feeling fullish so I won't eat too much.
  14. I am over a year and a half out I take a multi, calcium, B super complex and D3 everyday. You are suppose to take them with food I still drink a protein shake every morning and take mine with it. You are not suppose to take a multi and calcium together. I also take a B12 three times a week.

    I Find The Operation Stupid

Your stomach isn't completely done healing until the 6th or seventh month so day 40 is very early in the process. After month six it is pretty much eat whatever or as you put it normal and feel full after smaller portions but there are rules you will need to follow such as eat protein always first. There will always be foods that unfortunately you will be able to gorge on sliders refined sugars..... As for now just a month out breads, pastas, rice, and pretty much anything high starch or fat will not sit well with your new stomach. You should pretty much stick to soups and proteins but don't except to eat more then one egg, or an ounce of dense protein like chicken or beef in a meal or a 1/2 cup of soup. There is a learning curve to your new stomach it takes time and be patient.
  18. I was extremely worried about my hair too I have very thin and fine hair so the thought of losing any had me so freaked out. I started to take biotin (I want to say 650mg it was the highest amount I found at Walmart), multis and some collogen supplements I found a month before surgery. I also started using Nioxin shampoo/conditioner system 4 "for noticibly thinning color treated hair) still use it it is great and I swear by it. I also worked extra hard on getting in my protein post op. I ended up with little to no hair lose which I consider a minor miracle because normally the smallest amount of stress physically or emotionally makes me lose hair.

    What Size Am I!?

My sizing can be all over the map too. I wear mostly a large (10-12) on top and small to medium (2-6) on the bottom. I have several silk blouses that I bought years ago in my twenties size 8 and larges that I kept over the years hoping to one day fit in them and there still is no way I can wear them too small it is called vanity sizing so to make matters worse there are no standards to sizing.
  20. I was reading your post about your metabolism problems. Have you tried something like a Bodybugg tracker to get an accurate snapshot at how many calories you burn a day? You pretty much wear them around the clock except for showers for a month and it will tell you what your average daily calorie usuage is including your base rate.

Damn Was I Really That Big?

You looked good then but now look fantastic! It has been a year and a half since my sleeve and I am still shocked whenever I run across a picture of me at my fatest and at the time I had no idea how big I had gotten. My husband has said the same thing that he never saw it until he looked at before and afters. The other day I bought some sweatpants that were on sale they were only in sizes xl and up but I figured I'd buy a couple of xl to work out in so what if they were lose yeah right they won't stay up.
