  1. Hi Everyone,

This is probably going to sound really stupid but I have been wondering since I am going over for surgery on my own what will I do with my personal stuff like my handbag, phone, purse etc. My phone is welded to my hand most of the time!! Funny the silly things that come into your head at times lol Are there lockers in the hospital where I can safely leave my stuff??

    E

Yes there were lockers by the beds... don't worry! (you only share the room with one other person anyway).

Good luck, you'll be fine and wont regret it xx

  2. pardon the french but what a nasty shite i hate that especially if you were'nt expecting it hun, arnt you glad in a way though that you have lost weight,so you wont sit in all the time and get back out there and get yourself an identity,us women settle down and dont go out the door and then when we do well me anyway i get a phone call off hubby were are you,see he isnt use to me going out anywhere but that will defo change lol,im gonna treat him mean and keep him keen,so chin up hun all things happen for a reason xxx

Haha thanks slinks, you're right... imagine if I didn't have the band I'd be eating my way thru choc cake all week lol. At least I have a bit more confidence to go out now, but imagine having to explain surgery scars etc. I think I'd rather become a nun than go near men again anyway!

Sounds like a good plan with your hubby... keeps them on their toes! ;) xxx

  3. Dear emsey,

Well, there doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason to men! I thought losing weight and getting back to my pre-married size would improve my marraige...but it hasn't! He says he loves for what is on the inside...that he misses my bum...No compliments..., it's me that's been on the verge of leaving, but we have 6 kids so it's not that easy...so I'm still here. I don't understand, I thought it would bring the spark back and we'd be like newly weds, I can fit into my wedding dress again! He did propose again but it didn't make sense as we were not getting on at all, I actually thought I had misunderstood him!

I hope you get on ok, and things go smoothly for you, just think of this as a new chapter in your life!

    Fatpants

Thanks so much for the kind words Fatpants (or shoud that be skinny pants!! congrats on the mega weight loss!).

That's sweet that your hubby proposed again, I hope you guys can sort things out. You could get a babysitter and get hubby to take you on a romantic date.. and maybe even a hotel ;) haha xx

  4. Hi,

    Hope everyone is doing well.

I'm having a horrible week as my boyfriend of 7 years finished with me. Was so surprised & didn't see it coming at all.

After losing 5 stone now I'm feeling better than I ever have (or I was!) and now this... argh. We own everything together this break up is gonna be a nightmare. The idea of dating again... eek help!!

    x

  5. Hi guys,

Hope your all well. I'm away from home just wondering if any one has Fredrick's or the other guys contact details handy.

Had a fill 2 weeks ago which brings it up to 8.25 ml . I thought finally got restriction which was great been eating less and lost 9lb in 5 days.

Last few days the band has tightened more I cant even take Water I just bring it up again, feeling rubbish too with high temperature :(

Has any one been through this or any advice in what to do will be greatful.

    thanks.

    Jasmine

I had a similar problem recently, I had a defill at my local hospital but yesterday Frederick said that if it happens again you should drink cold drinks as they can reduce stomach swelling (like running your finger under a cold tap after you hit it with a hammer!) and not to have anything hot until you can swallow again.

    His email is: frederik.serneels@ecfs.be

    Good luck! x

  6. I got my band in January 2008 and I ended up losing about 70 lbs. At my lowest I was still really overweight, but my diabetes is now gone, I have more energy and I just feel better.

I hovered around the same weight for close to 2 years... losing a pound or 2, gaining up to 6 pounds but then having it come down again. I wanted to lose more, but quite frankly I was content enough with my life where it was at.

At this point I can't even remember what my band is filled to. The last time I went in for a fill was about 18 months ago... the person that does the fills where I went made me feel like the biggest loser (not the good kind) ever. I got lectured about how my food choices are why I haven't lost more weight and that I wasn't going to be successful if my form of exercise was working in my yard (which, mind you I had never done before that year because I never had the energy). She flat out told me that she wasn't going to give me much of a fill and I did not lose any additional weight after that last fill. But it has left me not wanting to go back. I do realize that I have restriction and I need to make better choices.

The last several months for me have been quite challenging, realizing there is a problem with my 7 year old son to getting him diagnosed with ADD. A husband that I am more and more unhappy with. I have found myself making more and more bad choices where food is concerned... and I just can't figure out how to get off this ride.

That is my question today... aside from getting a fill... what have people done to successfully get themselves back on track and moving in the right direction.. because it has always seemed to me that when I start going down this path it's the hardest thing to get going in the right direction again because I know I will miss eating whatever I want. I have gained about 15 lbs from the point that I was content to live with and my pants are tight and I am just hating the choices I am making, and how I feel.

So at this point, any suggestions for what has really worked for you would be greatly appreciated.

You could try having a couple of detox days... just eat healthy Soup. This might shrink your stomach and you wont have so much of an appetite afterwards.

I'm having the same problem as you.. I haven't been able to stop eating today! this is what I'm going to try.

    Good luck!

  7. have you tried weigh loss surgery group, they do a fill package for 6months or 12 months not sure were the clinics are but try there website hun xx

Thanks hun.. checked out their site and they do have a london clinic... bit pricey though as they make you have an initial medical assessment first for £125 and then their fill is another £95! Their 6 month package is £345 which i think works out a bit better for anyone wanting more than 4 fills. Their website has some good stuff on it - diet tips etc.

Luckily there is a CDB fill clinic this thurs which is 1/2 term so I'm ok now... phew!! Already snacking lots now I have no restriction - not good :(

If anyone wants this years fill timetable (CDB) I have an electronic copy which I can send out.

    xxx

  8. B)

oh poor you em glad your ok now, bummer you have to start again but hey you are doing so well, cant believe you have lost loads so well done,it is scarey when you cant eat i wasnt as bad as you but last week my band tightened because of stress and i couldnt keep food down and was gettin worried and thought i would need a de fill but it settled down, hopefully they will give you bigger fills for your money lol xx

Thanks Slinky, you're doing amazingly well!! We'll all be posing on the beach this summer! ;0)

I've been trying to get through to the fill line today to book up but they're not answering her phone. Its been difficult to get fills as teachers aren't allowed time off during term and the london clinics don't seem to fall at the right time for 1/2 term etc.

Does anyone know who else I can contact about fills? Another company that does them in London or the south? x

  9. Hi everyone!

I haven't been on here for a while - just wanted to post a cautionary tale... yesterday I had to have a complete de-fill & spent 7 hrs in hospital just for not chewing a pizza slice well enough!

The dough got stuck in my stomach and I was violently sick over 30 times in 2 days - couldn't even keep Water down and was in loads of pain. Was up all night for the past 2 nights with the worst reflux imaginable...

So I'll never eat pizza/dough again... and will make sure I chew food better from now on.

Disappointed I have to start again with the fills... but so relieved I'm able to drink again now.

Hope everyone else is doing well!

    Em x

  10. Haven't been here for a couple of months so just popping in to say hi!

After my 1st fill I couldn't feel any restriction and ate loads & felt crappy & depressed until my 2nd fill 2 weeks ago. Seems to have really done the trick and I'm finally losing weight again (hurrah!)... despite some throwing up :crying:/reflux issues :) (URG!).

    Hope everyone is well... xxx

  11. So I had fill today and am booked again for the 28th October and then I will go again on the 25th November and then wait until January as we are away.

Will post tomorrow as it's weigh day. Not holding my breath as I have had an awful week and felt really poorly with this horrible virus! Don't think I will have lost anything at all.

    Anyway take care.

I'm coming for a fill on 28th too.. may see you there! (1:00)

  12. Ok - I have arrived in Brussells and I am sitting on my bed in the hotel.

It's pretty basic, I suppose it would be best compared to a Travelodge. I'm glad my hubby is with me to keep me company.

My taxi driver said I would be collected at 6.45am tomorrow. My hubby is already despairing about missing brekkie. But the hotel bar is open at 6.30 for brekkie so I doubt he will starve.

I am going to do a video I think and post it on YouTube.

    Wish me luck folks x

Good luck lemma... I soo remember that pre-op-night feeling! x

  13. Well you learn something new every day.

Thank you English Rose for the benefit of your experience, thats really shocked me!!! I just dont understand how the saline is pushing back when its leaking, very strange, but girl I believe you!

Do as suggested and ask the filler to remove all the saline just to check if you still have the said amount in.

Can someone tell me what time you have to check out of the hotel, as our flight home is not until 20:55.

Surely we dont have to hang around the airport all day

Does Dr Chris have an arrangement with the hotel for people who have a late flight?

    Thanx in advance.

Hi Feckles, I checked out 2 hrs late and they charged me 20 Euros. If I was you I'd book an extra night via their website as its cheaper (39) that way - then when u arrive u can tell them and they'll keep u in the same room.

My weight loss has well and truly stopped - I had 2.5ml put in and it hasn't made a difference, if anything I'm eating more since! eek...

  14. I will tavelling on the 4th for surgery on the 5th. I heard that the the hotel where the consultation is held is good. Any suggestions on where i should stay plz help? Also what is the name of the hotel where the consultation is held? Emsey where did u stay that taxis were included? Anyone else whose stay inclued taxis n how can i get it?

It depends on what company you book with - if you book directly with Frederick (who works with CDB and does the consultations) you get the hotel & taxis included in one price. If you don't have pre-paid taxis its definitely worth asking others that do if you can jump in with them (the drivers don't care if you say you are all family!).

Here's a link to the hotel:

Welcome to the CAMPANILE BRUSSEL / BRUXELLES - Vilvoorde hotel

It is cheapest to book online (around 39 Euros a night). I stayed the night before and 2 nights after. Good luck!! Any more q's just ask x

  15. Thanx girlies, although I would be much happier if it was a size 12 lol. But I dont think that will ever happen.

I dont know who she mailed but the first person said no, she wasnt obese, then she tried again and they didnt even ask her for her bmi, and freddy booked her in, so who knows.

I know there is a Doctor Marc who does LAP-BAND® surgery for people with a low BMI, but she's not booked with him.:alien:

maybe it was more expensive I'm not sure.

Now I have to read back and list what she has to take with her, as she's just moved and doesnt have her broadband on yet...great!!!!

You could just say that she has been a higher weight in the past and has lost weight a few times but finds it hard to keep it off? Or you could say that she lost a lot of weight quickly on the pre-op diet? x

  16. i will b travelling alone to brussels to get band wit de bruyne any suggestions

I went alone and it was absolutely fine. I met the others being done the same day as me in reception on the morning of the op. As my taxis were included and theirs weren't I let them come in with me and their hubbys kindly carried my suitcase on the way back.

I was glad to be alone as I only had myself to worry about and I looked such a bloated mozzy-bitten mess I was glad no one I knew could see me and I could just lay in bed and sleep!

Congrats on size 16 jeans Freckles... Fantastic achievement!! I'm hoping to be there by Xmas! x
