  1. Poor you laila, that sounds absolutely awful, must have been really scary. Rest up now you're back the pain really does get better every day. I had my stitches out today, which does not hurt or anything. I'm still bruised at each cut, very yellow looking! The nurse was really good as she used to work with lap band patients. She said the healing really speeds up once the stitches are out. Can't wait to get rid of the water proof dressings in a couple of days, they're giving me a rash and are a bit itchy, probably cos I've replaced them 5 times now.
  2. I'm 12:30 - Sher & Twilight we could go for coffee after? xx
  3. I'm having my 1st fill on 9th Sept in London too! x
  4. 24 lbs in 5 days?! Thats incredible well done!!!
  5. Thanks Slinky, I was surprised when I weighed myself today - I feel as big and heavy as a house at the mo. Definitely got the pregnant look... and the in-laws over at the weekend so hopefully they wont get their hopes up! Well done to you too, the weight is falling off you! I've only lost 7lbs post-op, was hoping to lose a stone in the 1st week. Good luck Laila, if u need to know anything else we're here for you! I haven't felt hungry since the op so the band must work! xx
  6. 5 days after op and feeling soo much better now, it definitely gets better each day and affects esch person differently (one lady I was with felt fine the next day!). Some tips for anyone off to Belgium soon: Take insect repellent/bite cream and the rooms are full of mozzies, even when u think you've swatted them all u wake up with bites. Shave all your stomach before, those fine hairs u can hardly see - otherwise they give u a dry shave with a bic razor! Take PJ's with baggy/short sleeves - u will need to slip 2 drips through the arm holes to get your top on. They give you all the pain killers u need, but don't use the paper cups in the hotel room to make up the fizzy tabs in water - they make the paper disintegrate and you end up swallowing bits of paper! (use the plastic ones in the bathroom). Get some antiseptic wipes and dressings (opsite from lloyds pharmacy) before you go as you'll have to change your dressings every 2 days when you're back. Oh and the lady in my room had genetic liver problems and I think (really hope) it can be sorted and she can then be banded xx
  7. I came out of hospital today and am back at the hotel.. feeling sh*tty.. really painful. The pain killers dont seem to do anything at all for me. I didn't have much pain until the drain was pulled out but since then its been awful. A lovely lady I shared a room with went to have the op but CDB couldn't do it cos he discovered health problems during it. Feel so bad that she's been through all this for nothing, she really doesn't deserve it at all
  8. Hi everyone, I'm here in the hotel, we just had the meeting with Fred and have set the alarm for 6am (5am UK time.. ouch!) tomorrow as off to hospital at 6:45. To anyone going soon: dont bother having a mani/pedi beforehand as they make u take all nail varnish off before op! Wish me luck..See you on the other side I hope! xx
  9. Oh cool, thanks for the info Slinky! Hope your recovery is going well xx
  10. Hi everyone, I'm flying to Belgium tomorrow.. eek! I'm really nervous about my currency (for balance of payment) at the mo, its being delivered by special delivery at 9am tomorrow but I've got visions of it not arriving and I have to get the plane at 2! Talk about cutting it fine...(!) Does anyone know exactly what pills we can take afterwards? Is it basically liquid pills or chewable/suckable? I'm wondering if my nurofen liquid capsules will be ok? xx
  11. No I'm in the UK.. going over to Belgium on Wednesday for 4 nights... on my own! bit nervous! Its much cheaper over there than the UK and the hospitals are just as good.
  12. Hi everyone, I'm being banded on Aug 5th in Belgium. Am counting down the days on my calendar... just can't wait to get it over with now! xx
  13. Congrats Sher! Thanks for the warnings... I'll mentally prepare myself for delays and pains! It will all be worth it in the end though, this time next year we'll all be size 10's! xx
  14. congrats slinky! so glad it all went well for you!
  15. Freckles mentioned that you can ask for seatbelt extensions on the plane - especially useful on the way back if tight on our sore tums! x
  16. Good luck!! I'll be close behind you! x
  17. Don't worry.. He doesn't confirm receiving your deposit auomatically - I had to pester him a bit too! I'm sure he'll get back to you soon, he's probably really busy... I expect vanessa feltz being banded in belgium has increased their bookings at the moment! x
  18. Thanks Julie!! That really makes us pre-bandsters feel better! Do frederick/Dr Chris give you a list of what you can eat afterwards? I'm wondering what to stock my kitchen with before I go. xx
  19. Good luck Slinky! Nat I'm being done the day after you so may see you there! x
  20. Yeah she was really brave to put her videos up on Youtube, I've only told 2 people I'm having it done! Best thing is seeing her get thinner and thinner and thinking (hopefully) this will be me soon! xx
  21. I've heard it mentioned by other people... I'll definitely be taking it... or I wont be too popular on the plane back to southampton! Just need to pluck up the courage to ask for it at the chemist now! haha. Apart from those medical bits I'm taking soft baggy clothes, loose pyjamas and a soft bra. Also my laptop so I can amuse myself by watching dvds when stuck in the hotel for 2 days (I have to stay an extra night due to flights). Has anyone seen the gastric band video diary by missflump on Youtube? She took videos of the hotel, hospital room etc in belgium so might be useful to anyone being done by dr chris soon.
  22. Hi I'm 28 from UK, being banded in 2 weeks (5th Aug). Looking forward to getting it over with! How are you feeling... are you nervous? xx
  23. I live in Hampshire (Southampton) and am having my band done in 2 weeks in Belgium by Dr. Chris. Just starting my low fat diet and preparing all the stuff to take! Just want to get it over with now!! x
  24. Thanks Sammy! I've invested in a nice light suitcase that I can take into the cabin, so I hope I'll be ok flying home alone! I've stocked up on Calpol Melts and Strepsils... just need to get some Windeze now! Counting down the days, can't wait to have my band! xx
  25. Hi everyone! I'm a newbie to this site and this is my first post. This site had been really helpful when I was making the decision of whether to go for it or not! I'm being 'done' by CDB on 5th August but I'm having to go alone as my boyf can't get the time off work. I just wondered if anyone was being done on the same day? Em x
