If you're not sure, you may need to have more time to process things. I decided within a couple of weeks to go ahead, and scheduled it for about 1.5 months after I first started thinking about it. But, I was sure. If you're having doubts, there's no rush to wait another couple of weeks, do more research, or really consider how your life will change. Yes, eating out is definitely different. And I have pb'd in more restaurant bathrooms than I would like! But, for the most part I'm glad I had this done.

Sometimes, you have to get it up. I would go in your bathroom, lean over your sink and cough. Many times, I have to have it come back up. It won't go down. If you have some pineapple juice, sip a little. And invest in some papaya enzyme tablets; they can help too.

It's still challenging for me, almost 2 years post op. If I'm too hungry or the food just looks & smells too good, I still have problems with tiny bites. But believe me, I've paid for that. So, we just have to try to pull back a bit and eat those small bites, which is really hard but necessary!

There is nothing I can't eat in moderation. At least, that is the theory; I do find depending on the day certain foods give me issues (doughy breads, for example). But I can generally eat pasta no problems. Asparagus too, depending on the day. I have had pizza (thin crust, yum!), wine....all the foods I love. So don't be sad about that. Every doctor is different, but I think all things in moderation; as long as you can sustain it for the rest of your life, that's what you need to do!

It can for some people!

It looks like a lot of dairy today...probably just an upset tummy!

Well Guys Im Losing Weight But.................
1shauna1 replied to James _Perkins15's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
That is fast, but it looks like from your ticker that that was a lot to lose. Are you feeling full from the half cup? Darn, I wish I could bottle some of what you have! If your doc is worried, maybe you need a bit of a defill (although if you're eating okay, maybe not??). -
Do you mean more of an upset tummy? It could be because you've eaten a bunch of fruit after not having done so for a while. How do you feel otherwise? If you didn't have any issues with physically eating them, I would wait a couple of days & see if things resolve themselves.

working at home on a sunday....fun :-P I guess it's better than the packing I was supposed to do until the started on my car died yesterday, leaving me stranded!

I have usually 2 coffees in the morning....and I have 10% cream. I don't want to give it up. It's delicious. I count the calories & fat from it, and move on! Sometimes I have another coffee in the afternoon (many this week as for some reason I've been really tired) or in the evening after dinner.

I do, I have 1-2 coffees in the morning and sometimes one in the afternoon or evening.

Oh hon, don't get discouraged! Have you had a fill yet? If not, that's why your weight may go up a little before it starts going down. Don't compare yourself to your friend who hasn't lost weight; she obviously hasn't put in the work. And that's what many of us (myself included) don't realize at the beginning - you are still require to do the majority of the work here. You have to eat right for the band to work. So, just try to stick to your band rules for eating, if you have a little slip up don't beat yourself up, just get right back to it!

What Are The Secrets Of A Fill
1shauna1 replied to Bellagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It is definitely harder than I thought, as well. I thought I would be at my goal long before now (almost 2 years out). I have realized that unfortunately most of the work is still up to me. -
My first flight after being banded, I was nervous too. I had heard stories about people getting so tight on airplanes, and I've already had issues & had 3 defills. But I, too, was fine on the plane and afterwards. I guess everyone is different!
-
They tell me not to eat anything from a couple of hours before the fill. I would think if you just eat your normal breakfast at 7 or 8 am., you'd be fine. I think they just don't want your pouch full of food when you come for the fill.
-
Exactly, stop listening to others! If some people have been used to seeing you very overweight, and now you've lost a lot, they may feel that it's too much. Only you and your doctor can tell. If your body fat is at 12% as it says in your signature, that is very good! Much lower than most men I would think. So, if you're feeling healthy, not starving yourself and have energy, then why not? I do know from reading some of your posts that you like to keep your band very tight, but you could experiment with maybe getting a little fluid taken out and see what happens....

What Are The Secrets Of A Fill
1shauna1 replied to Bellagirl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
After they do the fill, I sit in the waiting room and drink some water. If it goes down okay, then you're good. If you feel it start to back up or you feel nauseous, you're probably too tight (nausea happened to me in the waiting room and I had to immediately get some taken out). I don't think it's a matter of how much you drink; you're feeling in your body how the water is going down. Just sip it; don't gulp it. -
I've had....three defills, I believe? I'm currently at 5.25 cc in a 10 cc band. I think the second one was the worst....it seemed to get really tight a few weeks after the fill. I don't know why! But I suffered for about 3 months before going for the defill. If you're that close to your goal, just get the defill. You may have to work a bit harder mentally, but you don't want to go the other way and start eating sliders because you can't get anything down and then gain weight! Congrats, BTW!

1St Fill Not So Good Plus A Question
1shauna1 replied to Mlivingston04's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've never had any numbing cream, but also they've never had an issue finding my port and I don't have any issues with needles personally. As for the air thing...that sounds strange. I don't think the air in there would count as any cc's. I would consider you to have 2 ccs. But many of us didn't feel anything after the first fill so unfortunately you may have to have another one; many people get a second fill after about 4 weeks. -
I do eat them for work lunches or if I'm lazy at dinner. Portion size is just right! But yes as Elcee says, many don't have a lot of protein so I would look at the nutritional info to see which have the most.

Size Goal Instead Off Weight.
1shauna1 replied to stokesmommy's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well, I would be happy if I would consistently fit into a size 12/14, regardless of my weight. I don't think there's anything wrong with it! Might save you some stress over the numbers on a scale! -
I generally don't limit bread but only because I usually can't eat it! If it's toasted or crackers, it's better. White or wheat though, doesn't seem to matter much to me. I will choose the better kind but don't normally eat it when I'm out because it can be challenging.

You'll probably need minimum 60-80 grams of protein per day. More won't hurt. But as stated, you can only absorb so much at a time so you need to space it out over the day.
