1. Hi all!! Wow! I've learned my lesson. You take a few days off from the forum and geesh is there a lot to catch up on when you return!! No progress on my port flip. I got back to the office on Friday and called Dr. K's office to see how I should schedule this port revision. I asked marilyn if I could have it done under a local anthestic so I wouldn't have to go under. She didn't know, and Dr. K is out of the office until Tuesday, so I have to wait. I'll let you know what I find out! Thanks to all of you offering me a place to stay! How sweet! We'll have to see what the Dr. says. I am hoping I can do this in one day...:Banane43:

My port is flipped already!!

Hi all! I am out of town on business, so I am sorry for not posting... Really, I'm not ignoring you. Thank you all for your help. I really have no idea what happened. I don't recall any pain or anything. I wouldn't know it was flipped had I not viewed it on the x-ray. I have a 17 month old daughter, so I may have done something to the port lifting her. My dog ( 7 lb Maltese) is always crawling on me too, so maybe he stepped on it weird. I haven't been doing any strange exercises, so who knows! That's interesting that it can be done under local in the office. I would certainly endure any noise, pain or feeling of pressure to not have to go under anthesia. As to how it happens, I don't know and I didn't ask. I really was having a bad week last week, and the flipped port was kind of the icing on the cake. I just smiled and nodded and went on my merrry way. It's not urgent and there's nothing I can do about it at the moment, so I am trying not to let it get me down... =o) I'll keep you posted when I get home. Sheila

Dr. Sunby fills?

I haven't even looked at the price list they gave me. Yes, you and I were told the same thing... 250.00, then 150.00 for fills after that. Well, Apparantly everyone started to come to them for fills, so they decided they had better try and make some more money off of us or something. I'll review what I have and let you know.
4. I'm near Wausau, but I grew up near Eau Claire/Menomonie. No one does the band in Eau Claire. You'll probably have to travel to the twin cites. It's a quick jaunt up I-94, so that will probably be your best bet. Plus, you can go shopping while you are there. What brings you to that part of WI? Where are you moving from?
5. That's interesting. I may have to try it!
6. Just thought I would post what I was up against with a local surgeon to do my fills.. Dr. Sunby in Madison WI was kind of an ARSE!! He started off by giving me this huge lecture on having had my band done in Denver. Saying it's not cheaper, because "people like you" will end up paying more in the long run. Also, 'these guys' set up these "band boutiques" then leave the patient hanging without weight loss help. He kept calling my surgeon "That Guy"... I mentioned the band rules, as posted by Inamed. He laughed at me and asked what I was talking about. He's all "So, is that what "that guy" in Denver told you??" I said "No, it's in the Inamed booklet". He laughs again and said "he never heard of the band rules." What?? Plus, they are redoing their whole cost structure. Even though you already have the band, they treat you as if you have NO CLUE as to what is in your stomach. Like you just woke up one day and said, "I'll think i'll get a band" He wants me to meet with the nutritionist, decide if I need a psych exam, (again, what??) and join their program. That's great that they want to see me succeed, but I already HAVE a nutritionist and I don't need the psych appointment. UGH!!

Hello!

I am not sure I liked Dean Care. The nurse Judy was great. Dr. Sunby was kind of an ARSE!! He started off by giving me this huge lecture on having had my band done in Denver. 8. I have been banded only 3 months and I found out on 4/24 that my port is flipped. It is pointing toward my left hip, so they are unable to fill it. Yes, I need to have surgery again to repair it. No, I don't recall feeling any pain when it detached.
9.
Hi all!! I went in for my second fill on 4/24, for the first time with a local surgeon (he did not do my surgery). Anyway, he couldn't find the diaphram on the port. So, off to x-ray I go to find out that my port is flipped!! Instead of lying parallel with my tummy, it's facing toward my left hip! Until I can have surgery to repair it, no fills for me!! How discouraging... and expensive too. Dr. K said he'd fix it for free, but I have to fly out there. The local Dr. said he'd fix it too, but for around $1,800.00!! Not fun!!

Could your smile be any bigger?!?! Congrats! You look GREAT!
13. The picture on the left was taken on 1/14/07, 10 days before my surgery and one day before my pre-op diet began. The picture on the right was taken on 4/16/07, almost exactly 3 months later. I've only lost 28 lbs, but I think you can still see a difference. :clap2:

Please keep me posted on how the bodybugg works. I really would like to get one!
15. Ok, so I just checked out the Rollerdolls website! WAY TOO COOL! Lovin' the name Friction VixXxen!! Too funny!! Where's your pic?? Did you ever decide on a name?? Yes, I'm thinking an Dr. K get together is definitely in order for this summer... I feel the need to meet my peeps!
16. Sunnysea! Oh my goodness! I am so sorry you had to go through what you did! That's too bad Dr. Kemmerling treated you the way he did initially. How nice of him! Ugh. Even though you had this unfill problem, it's gotta make you happy you don't have him for a Dr. I go to Madison for a fill on Tuesday for the first time, so I'll let you know how it goes. I am sure there will be more band Dr's around here soon, with all it's popularity. I'll be up your way in July for a wedding in Escanaba. Maybe we can meet up for a coffee, margarita or pasty or something! Hi Woofay, I'm back to normal today, I will need a fill soon! I sure don't want to go thru that ever again. It's amazing that you don't realize how good you feel until you're sick like that, it was untollerable sp? for 12 hours with it getting worse and worse. I'm just physically + emotionally drained from this and the job thing, only 2 people from work have called to see how I was doing! so much for so called friends.:cry I'll be ok, probably better off in the long run, even my Doc says it's good i'm out of there. Back to the fill, I will get this band working again, just slower next time! I'm not looking forward to the ER bills but live and learn, life goes on. I'm happy to hear that everything is good with you except alittle itching! I thank God I have all of my Dr. K bandster friends to talk to. Sunnysea

My Sister

That's awesome that you are being so considerate and helpful. What a great sis you are! Be sure to mention how great she looks when she arrives and through out the weekend. I am sure she will have lost some weight by then. All that positive attention should help keep her motivated. I would also try and plan healthy activities. A walk in the park or around the block would be fun. Shopping may be a good thing too. It's great bonding time for sisters, plus you can help keep her motivated by looking at outfits that she'll be able to wear after she's lost some weight. Maybe even offer to treat her a pretty dress or some sexy jeans when she makes it to a goal. Just make sure you stay away from the food court! A mainicure or pedicure might be just the thing too!
18. Hi All! I am 2 months out and have had the golf ball feeling a few times, two excess saliva incidents, and a minor pb once. Well, tonight I had some asparagus and salmon for dinner and had the worst golf ball, pain in back and PB ever!! I had some terrible spitting and hacked up some foam too. I kind of sounded like I had a fur ball!! I did finally produce some salmon while I was hacking. It sort of came out in a ball... I ran to Wal-mart and got some papaya enzymes. That has helped. Right now, my throat and abdomen (left side) hurt a bit. My questions are this: Are you putting the same strain on your band/stomach when you PB as you would when you vomit? Should I call my Dr? Have I ruined my band?? Like I said, I have had maybe 2 pb's total and a couple of sliming incidents. This has been a wake up call! I only hope I am not too late! I am scared!:cry
19. I'll be thinking of you Lap_dancer and DynamoMini!! How exciting!
20. Tater! So glad to see you are doing better. Please keep us posted on your progress!
21. Hi All! I felt the need to chime in! It feels like old times out there.. VABandster, Marjon, Drews Lou, Skye... my buds! AND we have SO MANY new friends!!! This is way cool. I can't wait until I can talk you all into a Dr. K "reunion" of sorts. You know we all have to meet in person someday! Yes, I have my fill and am doing well. Slowly but surely. Hopefully this upcoming fill will so the trick and I can eat even less and lose more. I REALLY need to start exercising though. I am real happy with the fact that I have been able to lose so much without it. Once I start to 'feel the burn' the weight should really start to slide off, and I'll be able to see my new muscles!!!:clap2:

January Bandsters???

Just checking in everyone! I haven't posted on the thread in a while, but I've been reading! Everyone is doing so great! I am glad I have you all to go through this with. I love my band! It seems like my weight loss goes in spurts though. I'll get stuck at a weight for a while, then one morning, boom! down a pound or two! I love those days! I have my second fill scheduled for 4/24. I can't wait. My fill is really sporatic. I am still eating MUCH less than before, but still more than I should. Exercise has been a challenge too! Warm weather is just around the corner though. I am feelins so energized with my weight loss. I can't wait to take my daughter and doggie for walks in the evening!
23. Welcome Spot! Keep us posted on your journey! We're here for ya!
24. How VERY cool!!!! and almost to GOAL!! WOW!! We'll be rooting for ya!:clap2:
25. I take 3 small pills a day, one of which is a capsule. I did crush/open them while I was on liquids/mushies, but I haven't since. I have never had a problem either. Maybe if I get more restriction, but right now, no.
