Sleeping on Stomach
KathyM replied to Soon to be Skinny Sarah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's not going to hurt anything, try it - if it's too uncomfortable then go back to sleeping on your side or back for a while then try again. I was sleeping on my stomach again about a week or two after surgery. -
the best thing to take to surgery
KathyM replied to ampsgirl's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
The best thing I had with me was a little bedside clock - there wasn't one in my hospital room and not knowing what time it was would have driven me crazy -
The best NSV thus far ! ! !

I am soooooooo happy for you Tiff!!!!! I am praying for a wonderful, healthy and uneventful pregnancy for you!!!!! Luv ya! Kathy -
I used to take my jacket off and put it over my lap so the stewardess couldn't see that I wasn't able to fasten my seatbelt. I always figured that I wouldn't need one anyways as tightly as I was wedged into that tiny seat, there was no chance of my popping out and bouncing around the cabin!

Dr. Alnmanza....Sleeved on Feb 3rd if you want more info
KathyM replied to Sam2011's topic in Weight Loss Surgeons & Hospitals
Posts about Dr. Almanza seem to stir up alot of opinions lol, so I think most people who have used him are more than happy to share their experience, but they don't want to get bamboozled and start a opinion war. I used him and like others am happy to share the good and bad parts of my experience but will also only do that in an email. Early on I shared some of my feelings and the drama that started almost caused me to leave the forum. I am glad that I didn't leave, because this forum has been a great resource for me. I love, love, love my sleeve and it is the best thing I have ever done for myself!! -
I was having lunch the other day with a friend who is an apartment property manager. While we were eating, her maintenance person came in to eat and he texted her that I was hot (totally makes me laugh) I am 43. He is 24. So silly, but made me smile all day - A 24 year old thought I was hot hahaha :heh:

I can't wait to fly again and see what it feels like to not be crammed into the seat or have the seatbelt just simply go across you and buckle - no squeezing, straining or sucking in to get it fastened

Pinkbabe - I am almost 8 months out and I can and do eat whatever I want. If I get a craving for something, then I have it. The difference is that now I only eat a small amt of it and not tons and tons of it. I can eat a piece of pizza, half of a hamburger if I eat the bun too. I have had hot dogs, but don't usually have the bun. I have found that bread is not worth the space it takes up in your stomach. Without fail, I do have Breakfast every day - eggs are a great source of Protein and I usually have a scrambled egg with a little bit of salsa on it. Sometimes I will make a one egg omelot with a little cheese and salsa on it (I bought a tiny skillet just for that lol) When I eat, I try to eat protein first and then if I have room, I will have something else. I am no angel though hehe - I do have my days when I just eat really crappy, but I don't let it bother me because it isn't anything like I used to eat. I will never be that person again.

changing sizes......

I love the Goodwill store! You won't believe what you can find there! Two days ago, I bought 2 pr jeans, 3 pr jean shorts - all Levi or Eddie Bauer and then 6 different shirts and I spent $25!!! Plus it's a great place to drop off all the clothes you will grow out of. -
Had to work a night shift last night - so grrrrrrr! 3am - refried Beans with cheese and salsa 6 oz of Dr. Pepper 5pm - spicy tofu/veggie stirfry with about 3 bites of steamed rice at a vegetarian restaurant 9pm snack - 1 slice of Provolone cheese Totally weird food day - Water no good, exercise no good. Tomorrow needs to be better
-
I didn't try salad for about the first 4 or 5 months, but when I did I didn't have any issues with it. I don't tend to eat it too much because I usually eat my Protein first and then there isn't much room for that afterwards.

Look at my tracker!! 45 pounds and I will be at goal!! 45 pounds!!! Do you have any idea how long it has been since I only had 45 pounds to lose??? I can't even remember that! I will get there in a few short months! I continue to feel blessed every day that I did this. Every pound that melts away will be a number on the scale that I won't ever see again. I can hardly wrap my mind around that. I can shop in any store, shopping is soooo hard lol. My brain has not caught up to my body, still scared to try those clothes on thinking that they won't fit.....but you know what? THEY DO! I have a whole new relationship with food, no more am I living to eat, now I am truly eating to live. I eat what I want and when I am full, I get up and walk away. How cool is that???? I am no longer ignored in stores, people smile and ask me what they can do for me - I am not invisible anymore. I get my hair done, my nails done, a massage...I take care of myself! I am learing to love myself again and it feels so amazing. For anyone contemplating this surgery, it is a scary thing. It is permanent, it's not like a diet where you lose the weight and then you go back to doing whatever you were doing. It's a forever change. And it is worth every butterfly in your tummy and every tear you will shed. It will give you your life back! Ok - whew! I will stop babbling on. :blah: I just want everyone who has ever struggled, ever failed, ever felt like they were worthless and weak to feel the same way that I do.

KathyM replied to VSGandMe2011 (DisneyMomma)'s topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Dana- Big hug!!!!! Don't sweat it, and don't beat yourself up over it! We are all human! Just start back on that preop diet again and you will be just fine. And yes it does get easier after surgery! Good luck - you will love your sleeve!!! Kathy -
can you drink alcohol after surgery ????
KathyM replied to kisses1000us's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes baby! lol I think it was about 3 months out when I tried alcohol. I am a redneck from the midwest lol so I was raised on beer, however I would have to say it is probably the least tolerable after surgery - I think too much carbonation. But mixed drinks or other types of alcohol haven't given me any problems. I will say haha that I haven't been able to get drunk since surgery - I just can't drink enough at once for that to happen. -
Anyone else do this??????
KathyM replied to ldydrgnkpr's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I think what you are going through is normal. I personally did experience some "grieving" for the old ways of eating after I was sleeved. BUT.......all of those feelings will take a back seat after you are sleeved and the weight just starts falling off of you! You will still be able to eat all of the same things you ate before, the difference will be that after the sleeve you will be satisfied with just a few bites and not the whole package. Hang in there, it is sooooo worth it! -
Bad breathe and dry mouth, what to do?
KathyM replied to papi chulo's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It will get better once you start eating food again. The texture of the food helps to clean off the teeth and tongue, for now lots of water, teeth brushing and gum lol. I remember that furry tongue feel - it was awful. Congrats on your sleeve!!!!! -
From the album: Progress
-
B: scrambled egg with salsa (my usual lol) L: Grilled chicken D: German buffet - salad, verenike, and a small piece of sausage
-
Lovin my sleeve, I can't believe that I will see my goal this year, possibly in a few months. Almost makes me cry when I think about it.

When I read all of these posts, it is clear how we are all still programmed to beat ourselves up over our food choices!!! We have all done fantastic and food will always be a part of our existence. We really need to try not to be so hard on ourselves, if you eat it and you liked it then just leave it at that and walk away . It definately takes the brain a while to catch up to the body, doesn't it?

LOL Blackberry you crack me up - some days are just like that, aren't they? My Thursday was: B: scrambled egg with salsa L: salad (work was screaming busy so didn't have time to eat much) S: Roast beef and a 6 oz glass of Coke
