  1. I am at the 3 week stall too. Lost 23 lbs, and there I am stuck. I think I just need to put the scale away for a bit, but once you get that taste of loosing, it is soooo hard when it stops. I keep telling myself that there is no way this won't work, I am eating only a fraction of what I used to eat and I am making good choices about what I am eating.
  2. I am 3 weeks postop today and have lost 23 lbs and have been sitting there for days!!!! I seriously hope this slump doesn't last long, it's so hard getting that wonderful taste of losing then it just stops

Donna - I hear you, I had to have a total knee replacement when I was 40. I had NO cartilage in that knee it was soooo painful and so awful!

    Nsaids????

I have been on a prescription NSAID for years for my arthritis in my knees. I resumed it 2wks postop and haven't had any probs as of yet. Just as Tiff said, I always make sure I take it with food. I seriously couldn't live without it and over the counter medications like ibuprofen don't cut it. I am hoping I won't need it after I lose my weight.

    Good Day

Sunshine - I am 18 days out from my surgery and your words could have come straight from my mouth!! Good job on all of the positive changes you have been making. I haven't grilled any chicken yet, but it sounds yummy. I think I can buy chicken "tenders" that are smaller pieces of chicken. I too can't stand the Protein drinks, and that has been a real struggle for me. Hang in there, you are doing great!!!
  7. Tamboo I took about 2 weeks to get my passport, but you can travel to and from Mexico 3 times without it so don't sweat it if it doesn't come in time. One of the girls in my group didn't have hers and she didn't have any problems with that at all. Anyone who wants to can private message me or email me at kmacxx@hotmail.com and I will be glad to help you with what to expect and any questions you have. Dr. Almanza did a great job on my surgery and I have absolutely no complaints about him.

    Changes in friends

Thanks Will - Thanks for the boost - I know this will work, I just have to be patient. Not one of my finer qualities lol:001_tt2:
  9. BJean - If you like ice cream, try getting the Yoplait Whips yogurt and putting it in the freezer. It is just like eating ice cream and they have a chocolate raspberry mousse that is really awesome this way!

Do I need to be concerned about beans?

Tiffy That is interesting to hear that alot of people hit a stall when they go to mushies, that has happened to me, I am still losing a little but it definately doesn't just fall off like it did with liquids. I'm trying to get Proteins in first and really haven't missed the carbs too bad yet because the Protein fills me up so fast. At least I know the stall is normal. As for the refried Beans, they were a little piece of heaven when I went to the mushies! I have only done them about 3 times, but it is really nice to have something with that flavor. Yummy!!!:cursing:
  11. I flew to San Diego and then was picked up by the clinic and taken back to the airport. Had Surgery on Friday towards evening. Then flew home on Monday. When I got home I had to drive an hour from the airport to my house, and it was no problem at all. However I didn't need anything for pain after about noon on Saturday.

    Changes in friends

Don't get me wrong, I know that she didn't intentionally mean to hurt my feelings and I actually feel guilty at times that I could do this and she couldn't. We have discussed several options for her to be able to do this as well and I have told her that when the time comes where she can do it, I will go with her. I am a little unsure how much to share with her because there would be nothing worse than me just jabbering around about my wt loss when she continues the same old struggle. I am going to try hard to be as supportive as I can.

    NSV shout outs

Tiffy those shoes are the bomb! I haven't worn heels in years and I can't wait to be able to do that again!
  14. Doesn't it feel great to get good sleep and wake up feeling rested??? I love it!
  15. I am two weeks postop and have lost 19lbs and I can't believe how much better I sleep!!! Before I used to get up 2 or 3 times a night and go to the bathroom and then I tossed and turned all night. Now, when I go to bed I sleep so good and don't get up until morning - and when I wake up I feel great!! I was never tested for sleep apnea, but I knew that I had it as sometimes I would wake up gasping for air. I am pretty sure that must be gone now. Also, I used to drink soda like crazy and I think that not having all of that caffeine in my system is why I am not getting up several times a night to pee. You wouldn't think that just losing a few pounds and making better nutritrional choices would make that much difference, but it has for me. I love my sleeve!!!!
  16. I have the same problem, I can't seem to stay off of the scale. It is so rewarding to see those pounds fall away..but then you hit a few days where the darn thing won't budge and like you said you start to wonder what you are doing wrong. Those old feelings of doubt and fear of failure creep in so easily. I know I need to stop weighing everyday, but haven't succeeded in accomplishing that yet - it is all still so new and exciting.
  17. StaySea and Iamsunshine - I know your sleeping will get better - it amazes me every day how much better getting even just a little bit of weight off can feel!

    #2s after surgery?

I didn't have a bowel movement for almost a week after - that was when I was on liquids, but now that I am on the mushy/soft foods everything has gotten back on track. So far haven't had to take anything to help with that.

    Drainage Tube

Drains used to be used all the time, but not everyone uses them now. It will depend on your surgeon. Drains are put in place to help remove blood or other fluids from your surgical sites. Sometimes after a procedure is done, the organs are rinsed off with saline and that is a way for the extra fluid to drain out from your body. If you did not have a drain, your body would just reabsorb the fluid. They don't actually result in faster healing or prevent infection, but they can remove fluids that might otherwise accumulate and become a source for infection. Try not to focus too much on whether or not you will have a drain. Your surgeon will choose whatever method he has had good success with. If you do have one, it will probably only be for a few days (I had mine for 2 days) and they are not really uncomfortable, sometimes they pull a little if they are not drained often and then they pull a little when they get full and heavy.
  21. I have been weighing every day just because it is so fun to see the scale go down every day lol, I think I will try to wean myself to every other day, then maybe get to once a week.

    Drainage Tube

Serenity - You can empty the drain more often if you want to. If you think that you are having more drainage than you were, it wouldn't be a bad idea to measure it and keep track of how much drainage per day you are having so that if you tell the Dr. you are having more, then he understands how much that means. Other things you would want to report are changes in color of the drainage (should be a pinkish-red), and increase in pain or if you are experiencing fever. Whatever the drain takes care of for you is just that much less that your body has to reabsorb when the drains are taken out. Hope that helps.
  23. I am super exicted about the 19lbs - I can even remember when the last time was that I lost 20lbs on my own. It is funny though how quickly the feelings of self doubt and failure can creep back in. If I have several days where I don't lose anything, then I start to wonder if this too will not work for me, that I will fail just like I have with every other diet. But......then I take a deep breath and get a grip and know that THIS time will be different. I already FEEL better, my knees don't ache as much and I am sleeping soooo much better at night. I used to get up several times a night and go to the bathroom or just toss and turn and now I go to bed and sleep until morning - I feel great when I wake up! I can't wait for you to be there too!

  24. You feel that way because it hurts to fail, especially when it comes to weightloss. You tell yourself ahead of time that you will fail so that when you do you can tell yourself that you knew it would happen. But this time is different! You will can succeed with this! Your new tiny tummy is going to help you do that. The willpower issue is not an issue at this time because you physically CANT eat too much. And as time goes by and you adjust to your new way of eating, the urges for all of those old bad eating habits that we all have will get less and less until one day you will realize that you are in charge of your body, it is not in charge of you! You can to this, I know it. Kathy
  25. I think we all have that worry - look at how many times we have tried diets or pills or whatever and hasn't worked......but I truly believe this will!!! For me I have decided that it isn't about a number on the scale or a size of clothing, I just want to feel good and not waste my life thinking about food and eating something. Trust yourself, you can do this!! Kathy
