Nausea, wasn't really that bad honestly. At the hospital, they give you the patch that goes behind your ear to help with nausea. Some people use them when they go on cruises, but anyway! Everyone was very nice and helpful. I got to go home after 2 days. Ha, I remember Dr. Spaw came in my room at 7AM, hit the lights on (woke me up) and said, "You ready to go home?" Then he wrote me a prescription for pain, and I was on my way. The worst part for me was feeling super weak and sore. You figure you go from 2000 plus calories a day to about 600-800, but after the first few weeks, I was fine. I was born and raised in Arlington. I've been in TN for 3 yrs now, but I still miss home. Feel free to ask any questions! Who is your insurance specialist? Go to any support groups?

Hey guys! I'm a Native Texan, but I now live here in Nashville. I had my sleeve September 16,2010 with Dr. Morton. Dr. Morton is Dr. Spaw's right hand man! Let me know if you have any questions!

    Advice after surgery please!!!

Hey tt23, I am no doctor, but I think it would be perfectly fine to drink some sugar free hot cocoa. I would use water instead of milk bc milk may cause bloating and gas. I too had a hard time getting my protein in early on. I tried several different brands, but never one I liked. I talked with my dr and he recommended the protein bullets. They sell them at Walmart for $2 a piece or $10 for the case of 6. Try one out and see if you like it. One has 28 grams of protein, not too bad! Then I would make SF jello and mix in some unflavor protein powder, tada protein jello! I promise it'll get easier as you go along! As far as feeling nausea in the morning, that was so me! I would get up by 9am and wouldn't have anything 'til about 3pm. It was terrible, but everyday it got better! Good luck on your journey!! I'm 12 weeks out and down 51 lbs!

How do you get get your Daily Fluids in?

When I went back to work, I went to Sonic and got a Route 44 oz cup of ice. I would fill it up with either crystal lite or water and drank on that all day! That really helped me! If I was feeling lucky, I'd get a Rt 44 diet coke slush!

    Diet Carbonated Drink

My favorite is my Coke Zero slush from Sonic! No CO2, but taste great!
  14. I am so over water right now and anything strawberry, chocolate or vanilla flavored! I go to Sonic during happy hour and ask for a small blue coconut slush LITE syrup! Best treat to myself! Then when I'm done drinking it, I eat the yummy ice!

    I just want to cry

Mr.Hopeful, oh! I know how you feel. I felt terrible for the first 4-5 weeks out. I finally went back to work last week. I was a bit nervous going back to work bc I was still feeling weak and tired. With the great support from my co-workers, I did amazing! Everything is getting better day by day. Last night was the first time I sat down and ate a real meal with my family! I made healthy chili and was able to eat about 4 oz of it. That was the best feeling in the world, and it gave me hope that things are getting better. Hang in there! It does get better!!
  16. I wouldn't worry too much about it. I gained 2 lbs, but I was drinking high calorie drinks and eating a few dum dum lollipops for 2 days. I've lost those 2 lbs plus 2 more and along with serveral inches. No worries my love!

    recovery time off work?

I also took 4 weeks off due to no energy!
  19. I am in the same boat sister! I am 19 days out, and I normally feel weak all day and need/want a power nap everyday! Protein is the key to helping us heal and feel normal again. I'm trying this new stuff from GNC, it's like a protein shot. A tbsp of this stuff is like 27 grams of protein. The taste, well...not too terrible, lol. I'd try drinking more fluids too. That's seems to be helping me. I hope you get to feeling better soon! Suzette
  20. Hi all! I wasn't sure where to post this, but I figured "Hey, I'm post-op; why not!" Here is my grand idea; tell me what you think!? My mom's dying wish was to one day open her own restaurant! I got to thinking! With this new tool and unable to really go to normal restaurants and really eat healthy small size portions bc really the kids menu isn't screaming, "low carb, low calorie!" What if I open a WLS restaurant for people like us and call it the "Loser's Eats" or something??! :001_smile: The menu would have our size portions and next to that it would have "normal" size portions. There could be a 2 upgrade charge and if the wanted to add pasta, rice or bread charge a 1.75 more! (We'd call it the 1.75 pick your poison!) LOL! Oh and since we can't drink during our meals, offer a to go of their chose of crystal light, water or decaf tea! Just a fun idea to think about! Suzette

    Olive Garden...

I went to Olive Garden with my honey today. I knew they had soups and thought to see if I could handled it. I explained to the waitress briefly that I had surgery and could only have soup with little to no chunks. (I'm 2 weeks out today!). She was a peach , strained my soup, and gave me more to-go bc I only had three bites. Can I say that those were the best three bites of my life after being on clears for the last 3 weeks! For a real treat, get you some of there yummy soup!

    C-Section vs VSG

I posted the same thread a few weeks before I have my surgery, and almost everyone said c-section. Honestly the sleeve was much, much worse for me. I hope that's not the case for you. Good luck on your journey and a speedy recovery.
