    Radiating Pain After Fill

Does your doctor use fluoroscopy for your fills? I totally trust my doctor, and he uses the xray for all of his patients fills. If I were you I would go back for a fill. Make your appointment early in the morning....drink something before leaving office to make sure you are not overfilled before heading home. Good luck to you!
  2. When I did a week of full liquids....while on vacation, I gained weight...I was so upset that this band was not going to work for me. Hang in there....the weight will start to come off!! You just need to be a little more patient! Good luck to you....

2nd fill down AND I lost!

I am so glad that my surgeon does his fills under fluoroscopy. I can't even imagine being poked like that....he hits the port on the very first try. I have had 2 fills now....Doc said the last fill should be it!! Good luck.....
  4. I went through the same thing as you are. When I hit full liquids, I was on vacation with my family...watched them eat out all week long and I freakn gained weight...I was in tears! It will come....I promise!! There is no need to return back to liquids....just make sure you are getting in your protein, taking your vitamins, drinking your fluids, etc. The weight will start coming off....just hang in there!! I have hit 60# in just a little over 4 months....Be patient and good luck!

    Post Op Struggles

They are called Premier. They only come in chocolate, but they are so good. I now have my mother drinking them. I think you get about 18 of them in a case, they are premade...for about $18 or so. I am not crazy about powder mix....reminds me too much of medifast shakes....but I enjoy these premade ones. I try to at least drink one a day, and I know I can get at least 30 grams of protein in with food....then I get my 60 gr of protein in everyday....good luck

    Post Op Struggles

I am confused as to what stage of food you are on. All doctors have different stages. I had 5 days of each food stage. I was not very hungry the first month or so. Protein shakes help alot, even now.....and I am 4 months out. The shakes that I buy are from costco, they have 30 grams of protein. It helps for hunger pains. Are you keeping yourself busy? I would just let your doc know that you are starving and ask him what suggestions he may have for you. Good luck!!

    too little food

I am sorry....but you are not eating enough protein...You need to get at least 60grams of protein in everyday!! It is so important that you receive all of your nutrients. Otherwise, you can end up malnourished. Not enough protein in 2 eggs, and eggs are high in cholesterol. Try eating a yoplait greek yogurt....12g protein and 130 calories, no fat. Try some chicken....very high in protein. But I would definitely not continue eating what you are eating everyday....if you have questions about your food intake maybe you should consult your surgeon's office! I also drink Protein shakes....30g Good luck to you.....

    Caloric Intake???

That is exactly what my surgeons nurse told me...I was in starvation mode, but for me, I was taking in 600-800 calories a day. I increased my exercise (mostly walking) and increased my food intake (mostly increasing protein) to about 1000 calories a day. And the weight loss began....I have now lost 48 pounds in 3 months....I average 2-4 lbs loss a week. Good luck!! Oh yea....buy yourself a pedometer. I never knew how many calories I burn just walking around my house, work, etc. One day I burned almost 900 calories!!

    stuck

How weird....I also had steak tonight. Took 2 bites and I was stuck for about 15 minutes or so....and I actually threw up. Throwing up was a first for me...but boy what relief!! I skipped out on my steak and had a peanut butter sandwich! Being stuck like that is not a pleasant feeling!!! Glad I was in my own home....
  10. Awwww....yes, size does matter!!! I thought my piece of steak was small enough....come to find out...after about 15 minutes of stuck pain, I actually threw up (this was a first time for me). I have had food stuck many times....but throwing up was a first. And I got to see what was stuck....I obviously did not chew well enough, piece of steak came up fairly whole. Oh the things we must learn ) So, I past up my steak and mashed potatoes tonight and had a peanut butter sandwich....
  11. I have been banded almost 3 months...No regrets whatsoever!! Only one fill...doc put in 4.5 cc in my band. I have had some trouble eating big bites and not chewing well....stuck in between my breasts. But all in all...I am happy!

    Apple a Day...

Try it and see....I haven't tried apples, but I eat nectarines. I take that back, one day I had a happy meal at mcd's and ordered the apples instead of fries...they went down ok (I think the skin is on them)....

    Help me understand??

Thank you Elcee.....I also sent another email to my surgeon's nurse, she will be calling me today or tomorrow to talk about it a little more in detail. As of now, I think I will stick with 5-600 calories/day.....What I have a hard time understanding is that when we reach restriction and can only eat 1/2 cup of food per meal....how many calories would that be....not 1200!! It is to my understanding that we want to reach restriction....and then the weight will start coming off!! Still confused...lol:wink2:

    Pork and Bands

It sounds to me that the pork was okay for you....you just took one bite too many!! That is why your last bite came back up. I was warned that you will know when you eat one bite too many! Otherwise, I think that you would not have been able to eat any of it....

    Help me understand??

Idk...whether it is proven or not....I increased my calories to about 8-900 in the past 2 days instead of 5-600/day. And I got onto scale today and I have gained 3#. I should have just stayed at the 5-600/day and been at a plateau instead of a gain. But this is what I am not understanding about the band!! I am not hungry in between meals, I eat my protein first and then my fruit/vegs, I do not snack in between meals, I try to walk about 20-30 minutes everyday....why am I not losing weight?? My first fill was 4.5cc.....do you think I need another fill?? But if I get another fill will I be in starvation mode if I am still eating 600 calories a day?? Confusing for me!!! It is no wonder I hated dieting.....

    Help me understand??

Well here is what I don't understand.....I am told to eat 4 oz a meal; 2 oz protein, 2 oz carbs....3-4 meals per day. I have been doing just that....I am only consuming about 600 calories a day. Yesterday I sent my nurse an email and asked her why I am not losing weight....she says, "This might sound strange....but you need to eat more, you need around 1200 calories a day." So to me....the lapband is a catch 22....you can only eat so much per meal, but in order to get in all the calories, you need to eat more...plus watch your fat and carb intake....So confusing!!!!
  18. I thought that I had no co-morbidities....but in my letter of medical necessity he included.....urinary incontinence, intertrigo, knee arthritis, low back pain, foot pain and borderline hyper tension. If you tell your doctor that you have some pain due to obesity....he should include it in your letter. But for me, I had no serious morbidities, but these co-morbidities still count!!
  19. danielle b

Did you have to do pre-op diet??

I had no pre op diet....and my BMI was over 40!! I lost 18# in 7 days post op on clear liquids!!
  20. danielle b

    Medical Neccessity Letter

Do a google search on the internet for example letters....but yes your primary care physician should be doing the letter, Mine did!! Make sure your doctor lists all co-morbidities in the letter.

    pain question

I have been doing alot around the house this past week...moving furniture and painting. My port area is also sore and sensitive. I am thinking nothing is wrong, the pain has subsided a lot now that I am done with my chores around house. I would just take it easy for a few days!
  22. I had my first fill on July 23. I was to restart my food stages all over again starting with clear liquids, 5 days for each phase. It was well worth it...(being on clear liquids). I had also hit a plateau and after 5 days of liquids, I had lost another 14 lbs. So your fill plus being on liquids, should help your plateau. Good luck!!

    5 months post surgery!

Ask your doctor for a fill.....
  25. I am a little curious....did your surgeon give you a fill when you initially had surgery?? My surgeon gave me a slight fill, but I never had any problems. Also, since your surgeon ran some tests on you to see if there were problems with the band, is he at all concerned about your symptoms?? I would find out if there is saline in your band, that's what it sounds like to me...that your band is too tight! You should not be in pain like that...Also....word of advice....my surgeon has told me numerous times, that I need to stop believing everything I read on the internet!! Don't let it all discourage you to the point that you want to remove your band because something happened to someone else.... Good luck and let us know what happens!!:blushing:
