  5. SO my sleeve is scheduled for May 18th. I would really enjoy speaking with anyone getting sleeved in may and perhaps chatting with someone who has had true success with the sleeve. Any takers?

    Any May Sleevers yet?

Also 5/18... what made you finally decide to go thru with surgery ? Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G530AZ using the BariatricPal App Well.....after gaining and losing large amounts for weight yet again, i finally hit my peak weight of 356! I couldn't go up a flight of stairs or walk through a parking lot without getting winded. While i am able to loose weight, every time a go off whatever diet i am on, i ain back the weight, and more. I decided its time to equip myself with the proper tool for sustained weight loss so i am going ahead with the surgery.

    Any May Sleevers yet?

Hey guys. I'm turning 40 tomorrow and having the surgery on May 18th. Been back and forth on this decision for over 5 years and finally pullin the trigger. Would really appreciate a buddy or 2 or 3 to go through this with. Anyone up for supporting a 40 year old male nurse through the process. I'm also willing to help any who need it. Pre-op timeline... Help!

Same here. I just followed the guidance of the office. They have seen almost everything that could happen with insurance companies so they usually guide you down the right path. As far as visits, the ones that were most important were mostly visits with my bariatric NP/Surgeon. The rest of it all had a general timeline that was provided by the office. I'm sure you are right where you are supposed to be. Sent from my iPhone using the BariatricPal App

    5 Year Delay

Its been a while since i have been here. 5 years actually. Back in 2010 I began the process of preparing to do the Gastric Sleeve. I went through all my pre-op testing. My weight was 313 and my doc wanted me to loose some weight. Well, I did. I lost enough do drop my BMI down to below 40 and thought that I could do it on my own, so i cancelled the plan. Turns out that was a bit of a mistake. Since 2010 I have put on another 40 lbs and have gotten up to as high as 356 lbs. So I began the process again. I dragged my feet a little after the first visit, but have since locked down a surgery date....May 18, 2016. Now my only concerns are post-op. I want to be sure I use this tool as its intended and drop and maintain a health, sensible weight. I used to be an athlete...I played rugby, volleyball, basketball....whatever was around really. Now I cant walk a flight of steps without getting winded. Standing in one spot too long causes pain. I am a volunteer firefighter and the last parade i marched in I almost passed out from exhaustion. I dont want to become another statistic. Its time to make a change and i believe this will assist me to do that. I am open to any and all suggestions, criticism, questions.....bring it on.

    Just started my path!

Glad to hear you started. I had my first consult last week. I have the nutritionist, gastro and cardio next week....no surgery date yet but i had to get the process started. Here's to us changing our lives!
  14. Hey everyone, so here is my dilema. I have been overweight for over 15 years now. I have been over 300 pounds for about 3 years, give or take. I have done every diet and taken every pill out there. I have lost weight and gained it all back and then some. I even lost as much as 80 pounds at one point. Here is my problem. If i go on a diet, and make a concious effort to really do it, can i loose weight and keep it off. On the other side, if I get the Lap-band and take the weight off and reach a goal, will i be able to keep it off. I need to hear from some people who have had the band a while on what their experience has been. I need to make a change but i cant decide if surgery is the right deceson for me.......HELP!!!

  16. Hey everyone. I am 33 and have a BMI of 44. I am starting the process of looking into the band and i need some feedback. I have been a yo-yo dieter for about 12 years. Up 20, down 15. Down 80, up 120. I have the ability to loose weight, but cant seem to keep it off. My concern with going forward...if i dont do the surgery, i can loose the weight, but run the usuall risk of regaining. If I do do the surgery, i will surely loose the weight....but what happens when im at my goal. Im ready to make a life change but i just dont know if surgery is a necessary part of that change.... any input would be greatly appreciated. Nurse Michael
