:smile2:I just saw my surgeon on Tuesday of this week and he wouldn't give me a fill (would've been my 4th). I agreed with him when he said " Just because you can eat more than a cup of food, doesn't mean you should." My doc told me to eat a quarter cup at a time. Take 15 minutes to eat the 1st 1/4c, wait 15min then have another 1/4c if I'm still hungry...etc. He wants me to learn how my band feels.
Take your time eating. I catch myself eating too much and too fast. So I'm still learning even 6 months out.
You can do this!! Small Snacks if needed!! Special K Protein Bar always help me! You've already won by choosing to be healthier and you've lost 25lbs!!!
Good luck!

Hey all!! I had my surgery @ the U of M w/Dr. Leslie. He's awsome!! I waited the 6mo (BC/BS) and seemed to actually go quickly!! I liked the fact that it teaches you how to eat properly (even if I was bitchy the first month or so ) Good luck on the hosp./surgeon you choose!! It'll be great!!!

So happy for you!! Awsome job! :thumbup:Keep it up and soon we'll get a post from you about ONEDERLAND!!

I agree with calling them back and see what other options they have. I'm confused? So basically she was telling you that it was your fault that you've been at a stand still on pounds lost??? I'd would've kicked her in the shins!!
My surgeon does blind stick and I've never had a problem, although my port is kind of prominent. The floroscopy should be used or what Christie said, get another person to try!

Me too! I stay the same all month then just when my period starts I dump about 3-5lbs in a day or two. It's frustrating that the body waits until last minute to catch up for a months worth of work.

I hear ya Pollywogg. My surgeon just recently said no liquid calories. My smoothies are off the menu for awhile. I've been doing 4-8oz servings of traditional Breakfast foods. It's soooo boring!! But I guess as long as I eat and not pick the wrong stuff I'll be ok. I'm not losing (haven't for awhile) but not gaining either:thumbup:. Thanx to everyone for the suggestions!

Thanx for the ideas!

Hey all! I have a quick question. I'm getting all cottage cheesed out for Protein in morning. I have a small allergy to eggs (a mild reaction) and try to avoid them. Other then shakes or smoothies, I'm out of ideas for breakfast. I'm almost 5 months out from banding, and can eat just about any foods. Any help would be awsome!!
Thanx!

Don't feel like a failure. I'm 4 months out. I just went to my doc on Monday, got on the scale and have only lost 1.3lbs since I saw him in June. He and I chatted and he told me to get back to the basics. Concentrate on calories, activity and pay attention to how I'm eating (fast or slow, etc). He wouldn't give me a fill this visit so I'll get back on track and stop thinking the band will do all the work. I look at it this way, I've lost 36lbs and I haven't gained anything back!! We'll see how I do in the next 4wks:wink2:

What helped me was sugar-free popsicles. You can kinda satisfy your need to "chew" and it's a liquid. If you're on full liquids, get sf fudgesicles!! It really does help. Also, if those tricks don't help, call your nutritionist or doctor's nurse and see if you can sneak some mushies in every once in a while. Good luck and stay strong!

I have a card in my wallet that I can hand to food service that says I have bariatric restrictions. That way they have to let me have 1/2 portions or order from children's menus. I'm surprised too that they took that I think if you completely restrict the occasional treat you'll go crazy and pig-out. Sounds like you did well and do sweat it!! Good job @ your inches and lbs lost!

Didn't get to my goal of 10lbs, but didn't gain anything either!! Very happy with that:laugh:! All in all I've lost 3.5lbs during the 4th Challenge. I think I've been losing and gaining that same few lbs for about a month:rolleyes2:!! Hope everyone is healthy and doing well!

Yeah Ginger I've had that pain too. I went all last month with horrible pain on the lower left side. The odd thing is, one day it just disappeared?? Haven't had it since!! Now my new "pain" is port ache when my tummy growls?? Figure that one out??:smile2::biggrin: My weight is staying the same...up 2 or 3lbs...down 2 or 3lbs :smile2:. As long as I'm not gaining it'll be all good:thumbup:!!

I'm with the both of you!! Too scared I'll not lose anymore, but mostly I think I'm just too cheap right now to buy new stuff!! :blushing:Every day I'm hiking up my scrub pants at work and trying to find someone with sewing skills!! My sister wants to take me to The Mall of America in the fall for a MAJOR shopping binge!! Can't wait!!

I mowed my lawn today without dripping in sweat and stopping for a break every couple minutes!! No heavy breathing and I soooo enjoyed it!! Never thought I'd say I enjoy house/yardwork!! *does a losing lbs and gaining health happy dance*:smilielol5::thumbup:

AWSOME!!! You look soooo great!! Congrats and keep it up!!
-
I've experienced that too, Dammit! I feel a pressure and a kind of pulling. I think it may be that my port is close to the surface (at least that's what the Doc has said). I just place a hand there and...well...:smilielol5: keep going!!
-
You look fantastic!! Keep up the great work!

Woohoo:w00t: I had my 3 month bandiversary on the 5th too! I think I celebrated it by working:huh2:. Oh well! Life is good and the scale isn't so scary anymore:tongue_smilie:!
-
Count me as a YES!! You bet I'd do it again!!! 3 months post-op and I'm already feeling 100% better then I did 6months ago! This isn't "THE EASY WAY OUT", it's dedication and commitment! Hell...when is surgery EVER the easy way:glare:.

Haven't been losing, but still not gaining! I'm still down about a pound or two from last Doctor visit!! I did my measurements this morning and I'm down another 1in all around!!:waytogo: All is good!

Mornin' Jen
I'm with ya. The last couple weeks I've been feeling like I'm more obsessed with food now then before all of this:sad:. What can I have; what can't I have; what's too fattening; watch the portions......
What keeps me going is the fact that even though the scale slowed down, it's NOT going up!!! Keep reminding yourself that every pound you lose, even if it's just a few more, keeps you healthier!!! We can do this and we WILL do this!!!
Much hugs!:tongue2:
-
Good for you Stevie!!:Dancing_biggrin: On my 1st fill my doc was pleased with my progress too! It is an awsome feeling isn't it?! Happy 3mo Bandiversary!! Mine is on the 5th of this month!! I can't wait until Monday because I'm getting my 2nd fill!! I could use the boost:tongue2:

1/2 cup of mashed potato with a pat of butter...mmmmmm:drool: and of course Sugar Free Chocolate pudding!! Ohh and don't forget a sugar free fudgesicle!!! I did pureed ham salad and tuna salad...that was very satisfying also! A medicine cup of food may be too small, but check the ounces he/she is recommending. I think 1/2c to 1c of pureed food is more of a filling meal, but check with your doctor.
Spring into March 2010 Bandsters
in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Posted
HI everyone! I haven't been here in ages...I'm not fond of this format. Took me forever to find The March Bandsters 2010!!
Anywho...I was banded a year ago March 5th. It's been an extremely rough 4 months. In September I had 2cc removed because of constant vomiting. The fear was slippage. My stomach healed and there was no slippage (phew) and by November the doc put .5cc back in. By that time I put on about 5lbs. Not too horrible, because my weight was coming off slowly anyway (I was down about 45lbs since surgery at that time). A couple days before Thanksgiving, my father was diagnosed with 3 brain lesions that were the beginning of a full diagnosis of Stage 4 Lung Cancer....:cryin: He's gone through radiation therapy to get the use of his right side (which was numb and sort of paralyzed from the brain swelling) and to help him finish his thoughts/speak again. He opted for no chemo treatment. He told the chemo doctor " I want a few good weeks." The doctor didn't argue w/him and said he's made the right decision. As of today, my dad is doing extremely well. He's lived longer than predicted so far!!
However there is so much more going on with family concerning dad's disease, that needless to say, I've been EXTREME emotional eating. The holidays were a prime opportunity to keep a snack in my hand/mouth. I gained about 15lbs between snacking and not getting my exercise in. Just too much going on to think of myself. As of my last doctor visit (Feb. 8th, 2011) I have 6.5cc's in my band (still hungry all the time) and went back to the beginning. I'm counting calories, measuring food and getting back on the exercise wagon. Part of me wants to spend every spare moment with my dad because of the little time I have left with him, but I also know that if I'm feeling sick and icky about myself, I'm doing him no good.
All in all, I'm down 31lbs since I started this journey back in October of 2009! Even if I've been playing the yo-yo game lately, that 31lbs hasn't come back :hurray:!!
Love to everyone and miss you all!!
