    Hungry in the Afternoon!

Ok, I need HELP! I am 9 weeks out (banded June 21st). I had my first fill July 21st at 3.8cc's and I'm scheduled for my second fill September 15th and the problem is...I'm hungry!!! I get hungry about 2-3 PM everyday. I do really well in the morning (may be due to the band being tighter in the morning and the fact that I have never been a heavy eater in the morning). Sample Menu I wake up and drink a cup of hot tea (with teaspoon of skim milk and splenda) Breakfast: I typically eat a Greek yogurt w/ honey or I make a protein shake with skim milk and maybe fresh fruit). Snack: hummus & veggies, Special K cracker and a laughing cow, or a protein bar. Lunch: Spinach or romaine salad with grilled chicken, feta cheese, almonds, or walnuts and dressing (I eat the 2tbsp serving size of regular, taste better) Snack: this is where I need help, cheese & crackers, protein shake, yogurt, etc doesn:t seem to keep me full) I drink water intermittingly. :scared2: Any suggestions to changes in my diet to help keep me full longer? Any good high protein snack ideas? I don't like eggs:thumbdown: I guess "meat" snack could be good, but not good for when on the go. Thanks!

    learning to love myself...with confidence.

I love it! -and boy can I relate, I would get sick to my stomach thinking about attending an event, especially if it involved people I haven't seen in years. I've had several experiences where I see people (including family members) after I've gained weight and the FIRST thing out there mouth was "Wow, you got fat!", "What have you been doing besides getting fat?" or "I didn't recognize you because you got so fat!" I think I'm always in so much shock that they would be so rude that the anger and smart response don't come to me until they're gone! Lol! I say all that to say that it is wonderful that you are gaining confidence and setting a great example for your children by living your life!

    Feeling discouraged

Thank you! Thank you! Building muscle is what I need. I carry my weight in my hips, buttocks, thighs and calves! I find that my upper body comes down faster. I do see a difference in jeans I bought in May, so that's encouraging.

Yes, you are totally right! I remembered "just licking" a little of my husbands homemade icing off a spoon and I surely didn't count that! The little things do add up.

    Feeling discouraged

I went to get my first fill last Wednesday and my Dr. gave me 3.8 cc's. I feel some restriction, not feeling hungry (which is good) :thumbup:however, the weight isn't coming off like I thought it would. I exercise (I walk about 3 miles 4-5x a week). The thing I don't do is record what I eat. I am not overeating and I am doing a fairly good job eating healthy, and I drink lenty of water. I was told maybe the sodium in some of the foods I'm eating is making me retain water. (I THOUGHT :unsure:the foods I ate were low sodium or no sodium) :huh2:I started my pre-op diet June 14th and my surgery was June 21st, so far (including pre-op diet I have lost 18 lbs). On one hand I feel like that's great but then I read that others have lost more within the same time frame. I know I shouldn't compare my self to others, just venting. Trying to shake this off and get up in the morning motivated to work out even harder and to start recording my calories and protein intake. :smile2:
  13. Glad your feeling better!

  14. Thanks for posting this, I feel exactly the same way! I was banded 2 days before you on June 21st and my first fill is also July 21st. I've been hungry and haven't followed my diet like I should. I'm worried I'll gain and be back to my surgery day weight by my first fill. :crying:One problem is this heat wave on the East coast, so I haven't been walking like I was for the last 2 weeks and being in the house is just temptation to eat out of boredom. I think I need to go back on liquids for few days. I'm hoping that I DO NOT feel hungry with the fill. :unsure:That's the hardest part for me now, FEELING hungry.
