    You can eat it but it's really wasted calories and won't keep you full at all. I'd look for sugar free/low fat.

    If you want a pretty healthy "frozen yogurt" try mixing greek yogurt, casein Protein, and cool whip. Mine comes out to about 200 calories, 38g Protein

    If you have 50 to lose and you've lost 15 already, that leaves you with 35lbs to lose. I wouldn't have surgery for 35lbs, that's just me.

    Never said the poster/doctor agreed, however studies show that well..protein is protein Just like a calorie is a calorie, a carb is a carb, a fat is a fat, a sugar is a sugar, etc, etc etc.
    If people want to think differently, that's fine. But if that causes one to eat foods they don't like then so be it; I think that's silly.
    @ OP. I've taken whey isolate, concentrate, casein, and a blend of all 3. There truly is no difference. If you'd like some links/studies to prove what I am saying, feel free to PM me.

    I got a card but have rendered it entirely useless. It's more of a assle than anything and the kid's menus are probably the unhealthiest meal options available. Fried chicken tenders, burgers...yuck. I find that I just order a normal meal, portion it out, and take the rest home.

    If you have 50 to lose and you've lost 15 already, that leaves you with 35lbs to lose. I wouldn't have surgery for 35lbs, that's just me.

    While I agree that getting more fills will help make your journey a bit easier, the band isn't going to stop you from 'compulsively gorging' yourself. You have to practice some will power and self control to not eat just because you can.

    Starvation mode doesn't really exist. Sure you can starve, but that takes generally 72 hours of no Water and food for your body to kick into such a situation.
    But what many people who attempt to lose weight eating extremely low calories experience is a metabolic downgrade, which means that your body adapts tot he low calories you are feeding it and when you exceed that number, you eventually gain weight, even though it seems silly to gain weight eating 1200 calories, but consider this.
    A woman eats 700 calories a day and loses weight perfectly. However, she hits a plateau and wonders why. Well, instinct tells her to drop her calories even more, which may result in SOME weight-loss but at such low calories you're hardly able to eat enough food to fuel yourself, so then you generally opt to eat more, but adding to your calories causes weight gain because your metabolism has downgraded.
    And the only way to really fix such a situation is to lose the insane calorie deficits and eat higher calories. I went through this personally, still am. When I was first starting out I was eating 600-800 calories a day for almost a good 5-6 months, but it worked, but it also ruined my metabolism. So yes I've packed on 10lbs, but my metabolism is re-regulating itself, so nowadays I CAN eat 1800 and lose.
    Just something to consider.

    Uh..there's no such thing as a Protein pill. Protein comes from food..maybe try Protein Shots. Dunno. Why wouldn't you just eat lean meats, eggs, cheese, yogurt, etc?

    Know a few who have had it; some have maintained their weight, others haven't. Bypass is considered the gold standard because it generally results in the most dramatic/quick weight-loss, however, dramatic and quick loss is rarely ideal. To me, gastric bypass is way too invasive and I'd rather have all of me in tact. The fact that you have to worry about dumping and have to live off Vitamins for the rest of your life is a turn off for me. I don't want to be taking pills everyday for the rest of my life due to the fact that my system has been altered in such a way that I can't absorb certain vitamins.
    Even though results are usually promising with bypass, all surgeries require a lifestyle change. Knowing how to eat and the importance of moving (note, I didn't say exercise) is critical for anyone losing weight, with or without surgery.
    Plenty revise to bypass, but I've also seen bypass patients revise to Lapband; it's a catch-22. If you're willing to make the needed change, any surgery will work, so will non-surgical methods.

    Yes and no, but leaning more towards no. While I've lost 100lbs+ flawlessly and for right now my band is "okay," the revision and failure rates of Lapband continue to soar and some of the stories I've come across have been scary, to say the least. It seems that after a few years out the band starts causing all sorts of problems and while I went with Lapband due to the fact that it's irreversible, some of the damage it causes isn't so..reversible. However, I wholeheartedly believe that the less you mess with the band (fills/unfills) the less chance you have of experiencing any negative consequences. I have no fill so I guess time will tell.
    In the end I do credit the band for somehow kicking me in the a$ and making me learn how to eat and live like a normal person does. I don't eat extremely small portions nor have I cut any type of food from my diet. Somehow the band made me want to learn about nutrition and weight-loss, and if I knew from the getgo that it truly is as simple as calories in vs. calories out, I'd have never sought surgery.
    Either way, hopefully the seminar is informational for you and your husband! The band is a good surgery but in my opinion not the most ideal one, either. Good luck whatever decision you make.

    Follow your surgeon's post op directions. Everyone is different (sadly). Per exercise I was told no more than walking for 6 weeks. Doing too much too soon can lead to future problems. Rest and get your Protein in.

    I disagree with all the previous posters. Lapband, the sleeve, nor RnY is the answer for you. Sure, a malabsorption surgery may be better for you, but in the end, no surgery, no doctor, no diet, no NOTHING is going to "force" you to lose weight. Maybe you should talk to a therapist or some other professional who will be able to better understand and help you.
    Nothing in this world will force you to loose weight, unless you're locked in a room without food or Water for months on end. It comes down to how bad you want it. You need to track your calories, exercise, and have some willpower to want to lose weight. Surgery isn't the easy way out; there isn't one.

    I used to weigh daily but stopped because I was freaking out/obsessing over the number, but that was before I realized and understood that fluctuations are to be expected. In fact, some people can see a 10lb fluctuation in ONE day. Your hormone levels, the amount of food in your GI tract, sodium, Water, muscle Water retention..and so many other things all play a role in the number the scale spits out at you.
    I started weighing weekly but have gone back to daily weigh-ins as I am looking to lose the last 5-10 and then I have plans to gain some mass, so daily weighing will be optimal for me. If anything, my suggestion is to use the scale, use measurements, and use your clothing as judging points. If you're dropping clothing sizes, you're losing fat and doing what you should be doing

    Try eating more. Up it to 1365 and re-assess in a week to 2 weeks. No one here can tell you specifically what's going on. In most cases you're either undereating or overeating. With exercise I'd try 1365 or somewhere around there.

    I'm no doctor but cutting back on weight-lifting is silly. Weight-lifting is EXTREMELY beneficial when it comes to weight loss as it helps to ensure that the weight you're losing isn't muscle mass, but fat. And in the case I've a disabled person, it's even better. I've seen much better results from the last few weeks when I've been seriously weight-lifting when compared to the times I was running for an hour on the treadmill.
    I'd reconsider. My 2 cents.

    Common. You're losing a combination of Water weight, fat, muscle, etc. The scale can drop big time when your glycogen is depleted.

    Eat more, definitely, especially on your workout days. I am probably much smaller than you in all ways possible and I am eating more than you Try eating at 1600 calories for a week. If you see no movement add 100 calories each week.
    I had to do this when I plateaued. I was eating 1200 calories and it worked for awhile but then it stopped; hit a plateau for a month plus and I tried everything; decreased calories, increased exercise, did more cardio, less cardio, more weight lifting, less weight lifting...crazily enough none of that worked. What did work was (holy crap) eating more. I worked my way up, 100 calories each week; and the scale started moving again at 1700 calories. I've been at another stall for another month, and I am just now eating more; 1800 calories. We'll see where I am tomorrow morning.
    Also, you say averaging. Do you calorie count/weigh your food? If you don't, you may want to start! I didn't for awhile but ever since I bought a digital food scale it's been god sent, honestly. I'm no good at eyeballing and eyeballing is no good when you're trying to lose weight. I'd say invest in one as they are a huge help!
