I got Approved Today!!!
reverie replied to ashley2369's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on being approved! Like other posters said, the pre-op diet differs for each surgeon. I was on all liquids for 2 weeks before and 2 weeks after surgery. This means things like the Campbells cream soups, broth, water, sugar-free jello and pudding, sugar-free popsicles, and juice that was dialated with water. Some peoples' surgeons only require a low-carb/low-cal diet. Best of luck! -
WOW, I'm pumped!! Surgery in June.
reverie replied to Mexican Canetoad's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats to the both of you! :smile2: -
You can do it! I had my surgery 3 days ago and the pre-op diet was hard. I got so sick of cream of chicken Soup and sugar-free pudding, but I did it, and I know you can too! Your headache should go away soon, it's probably a withdrawl headache. Try sipping on some Water or even Crystal Light. Just think, 4 more days until surgery. You didn't do this for 4 days just to back out. Keep your head up and before you know you'll be done and on the losing side.

Congrats and good luck on starting your journey! I was just banded yesterday. May I ask why you've considered Lapband when your husband has been successful with gastric bypass?

Why didn't I join sooner??
reverie replied to tashalovesu28820's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Congrats on joining and even more congrats on losing 40lbs, that's awesome! I can't wait to be there. I was just banded yesterday so I'm sure you know much more than I do! Either way, congrats and welcome. -
I'd definitely ask your dr. With my post-op diet I'm on liquids for 2 weeks, then mushies for 2 weeks, then real food. chicken and all that isn't allowed until my mushies stage. I wouldn't risk eating them before asking the dr as he/she will know if your stomach and band are healed enough to handle that type of food.

A quarter of the way to my goal!!

Congrats on your weight loss! You'll be at your goal before you know it. -
For anyone who has been banded, what should the pain feel like? I was banded yesterday and I have a dull pain in my shoulder blades but it is off and on and not much of a bother, but ever since surgery I have some discomfort in my stomach area. It feels like I ate too much and its all just sitting in my stomach. Is this a normal discomfort to feel? If so how long does it take to go away? Thanks! :scared2:

Pain? What should it feel like?
reverie replied to reverie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Thank you for your help!! -
I think all of the anxiety and worry is very normal. I had mine a few days ago after I saw I lost 12lbs on the pre-op diet. I started to wonder if I could do it on my own. I may be able to, but in the long run, I know I wouldn't. I'd do good for a few months and then go back to my old ways of eating whatever I see. Hand to mouth disease, as my dr. calls it. I get banded tomorrow at 7:45AM so I am excited! Worried still, but excited. Good luck to everyone!

Should have introduced myself sooner
reverie replied to Havens's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Welcome! I'm getting banded next Monday. Good luck on your journey. You'll find a lot of helpful people here. So if you ever have any questions, ask away. -
I know the feeling! I'm REALLY thinking I can do this on my own, but also thinking how much can I take before I say forget it and go back to my old ways. Surgery is next Monday so I've got to make up my mind.

I'm on day 3 and i've lost 10lbs  Makes me wonder if I can do this weightloss thing on my own. Like others said, you may be retaining liquids, or your body is shocked at the sudden change and is holding onto everything. Give it a few days, you'll be losing in no time.

Getting my surgery May 10, 2010
reverie replied to sueslostcontrol's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm May 10 as well!! -
You're welcome!

I'll be taking a multivitamin, calcium citrate, b-12, and probably a COQ-10 pill (my own choice.) My dietician recommended that I take the first 3 vitamins for the rest of my life. 4-6 months after surgery I can switch to taking capsules instead of chewables.

Protein Supplements- Unflavored Options
reverie replied to LegalEagle2009's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I bought Any Whey to add to my food. I think you are adding too much. You can't put a whole scoop of protein in something and expect the texture/taste not to change. My dietician told me to measure out the needed scoops (2-3 if you use Any Whey) into a separate container and add little sprinkles here and there. Adding too much will make the food pretty thick. -
Newbie from Maryland here!
