  1. I had my surgery on 9-29-10 and have only lost 14 pounds, depending on the day. sometimes it's only 12 or 13. I've had one fill and am wondering, like you, how I'm ever going to get to a small size in a year when it seems so-o-o-0 slow. I guess that's the way of the band, though, as opposed to the bypass. At least we're not gaining and maybe we'll have less loose skin?????

You got that right!! At least we are not gaining. I feel like I am loosing inches tho. I have noticed a lot of my clothes are fitting loose the scale just isn't really reflecting it yet!! I just had my second fill last week. They told me it would take 3-4 fills before I really start seeing results! I hope thats true!! :)

  2. My knees are doing a lot better! I just rested them a few days and they were good to go. I LOVE swimming and was just thinking to myself to look into Water arobics. Too bad winter is around the corner bc my folks have a pool that I can use anytime but since its winter I have to find an indoor pool! That is great that you have the time to workout so much and good for you for sticking to it!! :blushing: I worked out yesterday on my wii fit with the new Jillian Michaels game. I LOVE it!

  3. Thanks girl! Yeah it is harder to workout as much as I want too bc I work fulltime BUT I make sure to get some type of workout in at least 5 times a day. My second week after surgery I fell and busted both knees so I couldn't do any walking for a few days. Then my third week I got a sinus infection, ear infection, and stomach bug all at once so that delayed my workout too.

:( How are you liking zumba? I have thought about doing that too.

  4. Just curious of when everyone started really seeing the weight come off? I was banded on 9/20 and I have lost about 15 lbs since surgery? Is this about normal? I kind of thought it might be a little more. My surgeon said I am doing great. I just had my 2 fill last week and I feel a little restriction but not a lot. I am walking twice a week for 30-45 mins and doing a light workout 3 times a week for 30-45 mins. Doc said to give it about 8-10 weeks before bumping up the workout and that after about 4 fills I should start seeing more results. I'm just kind of confused on about how much you first loose and when you start really seeing it come off.

    :(

  5. quitting is def hard, I am also being banded in October of 2010!!!! same thing, I have to do the 6 month insurance thing...good luck with everything. I have tried quitting many times.

Yay we def have to stay in touch since we will be banded about the same time! The wait sucks but hey I can work with it since ins is willing to cover most of it!!

It is realllllllllly tough trying to stop smoking but now since I am a month out I am motivated to continue to NOT smoke...It is kinda like a lil game I am playing with myself to see how long I can keep going! Good Luck to ya and like I said lets stay in touch!!

  6. Congratulations on quitting. :thumbup:It is one of the best gifts you can give yourself. I smoked for 14 years and I have been smoke free for the LAST 14 years. It gets much easier. I only want to have a cig MABYE once a year now, but I must say I haven't touched even one since I quit.

Wow that is AWESOME!! 14 years! Way to go!!

  7. Porter!

I'm gonna give you a big HOOOTIE HOOO!!! Today is my no smoking anniversary (7 months today, cold turkey) so I know how hard it is! One month is something to be very proud of.. and now it's one day at a time!! good for you!!!!! :o

AWWWW yay too you too!!! 7 months that is awesome! Yup cold turkey is hard but once you get past those first few weeks it is alllll worth it!

hey girl!! how did you surgery go?!?! hope all is well with ya

  9. hey guys just wanted to share...i made it a MONTH without smoking!! im sooooo proud of myself!! it was actually not as tough as i thought it would be!! i had my second doc apt last week and they said i had actually lost 4.5 lbs since i had stopped smoking which i thought was great bc most people have told me they gained weight when they stopped!!! jsut had to share!!!!!!!!

  10. Hey Monique- I sent you a PM.

Yep, same Dr. and I'm jealous you get to opt out of the sleep study, but NOT jealous that you're having to pay for everything. OUCH. Melissa is pretty confident that my INS will pay for it, but I just need to jump through a few hoops to get there. No biggie, I suppose!

Once it's approved, I'm hoping to get it done soon. The longer out it's scheduled, the more time I will have to obsess about it. KWIM?! I'd rather just schedule it and get it over with!!

Like you, I'm dreading the Optifast mess. What flavors are you going to get? I want to get a Magic Bullet that someone posted about so I can mix my shakes on the fly! SOOO not looking forward to that.

    Nice to meet you!

Hey just thought I would pass this info on...I saw that posting about the Magic Bullet too...So I went online to craigslist.com and bought a BRAND NEW one for 30 bucks!! :Dancing_wub: You might take a look on there...I think costco has them pretty cheap too.

  11. Hey guys! I'm in NFW!! I'm going through the motions now to hopefully be approved by my insurance for a May-June surgery. I have my sleep study this Sunday night. Anyone been through it?!

    Nice to meet you all!!

I've started a blog to document the happenings, and I would love more followers!

Hey there I have a sleep study next month!! I'm nervous!! Will you let me know how yours goes?? Good Luck!

  12. Hi Monique!

I'm in Houston and will be banded on Monday 4/19. My surgeon only required a 5 day liquid diet for me, and this is day one. I know everyone is different, but so far I have not had any problems...just make sure that you have distractions. When you start to get hungry, have some Water and a quick chat with a co-worker, or take the dogs out...etc. It passes!

Wow not much longer to go for ya! Good luck girl!

  13. Oh that stinks your insurance didn't cover it but talk about DETERMINATION to save up that much! Congrats!!!! I have to wait 6 months bc my insurance requires 6 months worth of nutrition visits. I want to get it done RIGHT now but hey I'm just thankful I will be able to get it done.

  14. Girl I am soooo proud of you! 9 days! That is fantastic. shoot I keep thinking at 9 days in I'll only have 8 more days until surgery..this gets me through! Anyone else suffer from absentmindedness and no gumption? I am soooo freakin tired~!:cool2:[/quote
