  1. I have to lose a 100lbs. When I played football in college I was 240 and Im at 309 now. Dont be afraid to ask! Im not scared! Day 2 of liquids....and my beef broth is saving me!! Taste like my TopRamen! I just imagine noodles in it.......
  2. 2 weeks out is actually Wed, but I would rather start on a Monday and get it over with, so this morning my story begins. All liquids pre-op diet and a surgery date of May 5th. Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere we go!
  3. carnation sugar free packs 5 times daily with 8oz of 1% milk or the bariatric advantage with water, sugar free jello or sugar free popscicles with less than 12 calories each. Or any sugar free drink of my choice. The Jello may save me! and I found some sugar free creamscicles with 15 calories! LMAO
  4. Wich drink did you end up going with? We were kind of dissapointed with that meeting...we knew all that info already, we were kinda looking for the secret "how to" and "what to" do tips. But oh well...I completely understand the last minute fill in thing too. But do me a favor! Stay in touch and let me know things you learn along the way!

  5. is in! Wooohooo! Approved! After 6mos, the letter is in! Surgery still tenative for May 5th, so the journey continues for me. I have my 2 week pre-op visit today, scheduled to begin the 21st. I think that will be the hardest part for me. Two weeks on liquids. I have never kept a true goal in my life, so this will be something worth fighting for. Health and life. Thanks for the great support on this forum!
  6. I too had to go through a 6 month process, but I think it was all worth it. I was losing weight and the normal pace, wich meant the nutrionist advice was working and he appreciated that I was making a commitment. With all that said and done, I got my approval letter yesterday in the mail. So its official. 6 months to prepare for a life change is plenty if you ask me. That also gave me plenty of time to do research to understand what I was about to do. I think Ive done enough reading for a while!
  7. Corpus here, going in May 5th for surgery....

    I have my surgery date....

I kinda had the same thought when I left the Dr's office with my surgery date. MAY 5th!! But here is my challenge. I have to lose 20 lbs by my surgery date or its a no go. SO, the incentive is there for me. But I did it to myself. I needed a hard date to achieve my goal otherwise I would cheat. Not to mention the Dr telling me that if my liver doesnt shrink like its supposed too (with the 2 week pre op diet) and he goes in there and the liver is too big to work around, thats it. no surgery. Most insurances will only cover one bariatric procedure per life of the policy. SO, if you cheat and your liver/body arent ready for surgery, and they go in and its not shrunk and too complicated, they pull out and your one chance to do this is over........ That itself was major incentive for me.
  9. BCBS of Georgia....we set a date for May the 5th! easy to remember it! Going hard core on the diet, then liquids 2 weeks prior....game on!
