    Thats great news!
I didn't have another barium swallow and my Doc put 5 cc back in on Monday. Its taken me a few days to get used to eating MUCH less again! I can go back for another 1cc next week if I want, but I'm starting to think I might wait a little longer.

Hi there. I have not posted in quite some time, nor have I been reading other posts religiously as I once did. I am hoping to hear from some other people that are years into this banded life that can shed some light on some things for me. I was banded in the summer of '05. I was pretty sure that I would lose every single extra pound in the first six months. I didn't, but I did lose about 30 pounds. In the first year I lost a total of 40 pounds. I was pretty happy with that. In the second year, I reverted to some of the emotional eating that made me fat in the first place, but managed to stay stable despite myself. In the third year, which will end in August, I have managed to gain back all 40 pounds. In the beginning of the year, I was teetering on being too tight. I didn't want to gain weight so I kept it that way. Over the course of a few months, it seemed to get tighter as I gained a few more pounds because of all of the soft foods I was eating.
Then my surgeon left town. That was the biggest blow, because she was amazing. I found myself on my own and I had no idea what to do. By the time I found a new surgeon I had gained about 15 pounds because it was too tight. The new surgeon, although nice, had no clue what to do. He took Fluid out of my band, but way too much. This left me with almost no restriction and have since gained back every pound that I originally lost.
I'm going to a new surgeon tomorrow, one that has a great reputation from what I have read. I am hoping to be able to start all over and find success again. Has anyone had luck years later? I am frustrated today, and have been for quite some time. I have even been considering looking into alternative surgeries. I never thought I would consider that.
Any advice and/or similar experiences would be so helpful to me right now. I am really hopeful that by Christmas, I can manage to get my weight back down below 200. I'm at 260 right now. Thanks to anyone who has advice or encouragement for me, and thanks for reading this far! I'm hoping that involving myself in a support group will help me get this thing together.
    Thanks!

yikes, ONLY 1 tablespoon of food, that's not enough to feed my 4 year old, much less an adult.
the band is placed so you can eat a "normal person's" normal meal. i do not see any normal people (aka not fat) only eat 1 TBSP. you need Protein and veggies and i dont see that coming from 1 TBSP of food.< /p>
    i strongly suggest an unfill.
    good luck

I'm definitely not anti surgery, but I think that it can be hard to separate the really worthwhile procedures from worrying about every little detail about yourself iykwim? I'm afraid that if I did go in to have a breast lift, then next thing I'd want a Tummy Tuck, then a bum lift, then I'd start worrying that I was looking old in the face....... Its kind of like opening Pandora's chest, lol.
Jachut: Unfortuntely, I'm not swimming in money, but I can afford the procedures and I have opened Pandora's box! Do you understand my quandry better? Hmmm!

losingjusme reacted to Gone4Now in Anyone use fake plants/flowers outdoors?
I had neighbors in VA who would plant fake flowers in the ground...and then leave them there all winter. I didn't notice until it was time for them to die... and they didn't! They would also put out the wrong flower/plant for the wrong season.
But, I'm with you. I hate maintenance on them, and I'm willing to try it, too! I think if you choose the right plant for the season, you could really have a lovely "garden".

maybe, no one here can tell you otherwise.
you are just a few days post op - i strongly suggest you follow YOUR doctor's post op diet.
the post op is not designed to make you miserable, it is to ensure your sutures heal properly and anchors your band in place.

Wow, that's a long way so soon after major surgery, you're one determined lady!
When I did the 14.4 kms the other week (about 10 miles) I couldnt eat for an entire day. I had to do liquids. I cannot eat after a very intense session, which is why I try to time my sessions for the afternoon when I tend to get that mindless I just wanna eat something feeling.

Fried tripe is band friendly. In fact, the last tripe I bought actually came with a lap band on it. I guess the rancher was trying to slim down the cattle to make that popular 7% fat hamburger meat, so all the cattle were fitted with lap bands. They were feeding the cows with Protein drinks made from that same cow's milk, so it was really a low-cost operation. Unfortunately they forgot to remove the bovine lap bands from the tripe before they sold it. It was pretty startling to find the lap band in my fried tripe. I thought to myself, "wait a menudo, this tripe is tough." Let's just say the whole experience gave a new meaning to the phrase "chew, chew, chew."

Rep Power was enabled by mistake today. I was about to disable it when I came up with a great idea. I want LBT to be a positive place and we really need to stop any negativity that pops up every once in a while. With that spirit in mind, members can now only leave positive reputation:thumbup:

Don't you remember the reputation power thing from before BBK? The little white scales on the bottom between the colored dot showing whether you are online or not, and the post report icon......you can click on it, and give others kudos-------or at least that is how I remember it being. It didn't last long before. Too many people I think used it like a High School Popularity thing....
Then again-----I may be all wrong----would NOT be the first time!!!! LOL

Oh my gosh! Was it a smaller plane? Cuz something tells me one 500 lb guy on a 747 wouldn't make that much difference. How embarrasing for the poor fellow.
Granted I haven't flown as often as some but I've NEVER had to put my arm rests down on a flight. I didn't even realize that this was supposedly a "law". Interesting. I too have had the occasional flight that was almost empty and got to sprawl acrsos all 3 seats - no one said a thing.
