what do you eat everyday?
Itsforlife replied to alygrl77's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Refried bean, mashed potatoes, cottage cheese, yogurt. I also make a pot of split pea soup and put small portions in the freezer. It was wonderful to eat something homemade. -
I was just waiting for someone to respond now I'm going to fix me some grits for dinner. woo hoo! Thanks

March 24th is the day!

Don't feel alone. Last night I was in a lot of pain around the port site. I cried and walked around the house for 20 minutes. I was really feeling sorry for myself. Today I'm feeling better. The gas pains have eased up some. I tried to be off the pain med and switched to Tylenol but it doesn't quite cut it. It's ok to feel blue, sometimes the anesthesia affects people that way. Just post on here and I'm sure someone can always relate to whatever stage you are in. Hope you feel better soon. This is a good thing and this too shall pass. -
It's not on my list for the post op liquid phase but is it ok to have watery grits 5 days post op? Nothing sounds appetizing to me right now and I can only tolerate 4 oz of shake every 3-4 hours. I had my husband fix me some watery grits and he seems to think that I should not have it at this stage.

Just got my band on 3-23!!
Itsforlife replied to Ally4's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Ally4 I started walking right away. Even if it was just around the house a little bit at a time while I was awake. Today is day 3 days post op and I got on the treadmill for about 5 min each time. They could not stress the walking enough during my pre op. So try walking even if it is uncomfortable. Just go slowly. -

Some people don't have to do pre-op diet?
Itsforlife replied to Itsforlife's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
OMG Happy Mom that's less than 600 calories a day no wonder you are starving. I was told I can have between 1000-1500 calories a day. I average about 1000 and I haven't been that hungry. -

Hello Fellow Lap Band Friends!

Hi I live in Monroe, NC who is your surgeon? Mine is David Voellinger on Randolph Rd. I am currently on day 3 of the liquid diet. I am taking the Chike protein shake but I find that I get really bored with just one flavor. So I have tried switching up with vanilla and chocolate. Also I found a really good premixed at Costco called Premium Protein. I know the 2 week pre op sounds really extreme but it's not as bad a I thought it would be. I just take it one day at a time. And the shakes really do fill me up. Everytime I want to throw a pitty party because I cannot eat regular food I remind myself that I am so fortunate to have my insurance pay for my procedure. Anyway good luck to you. Let me know if I can encourage you in any way. -

Can you explain about the liver releasing glycogen stores? Thank you. -
What can you add to your protein shake?
Itsforlife posted a topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I asked my doctor's office if I can add a banana to my protein shake and they said it was ok. Did anyone add anything to their protein shake without adding too many calories? I start on the liquid diet tomorrow any suggestions are welcome.
