  1. I was sleeved yesterday morning! woohhooo! I am so excited. I can't wait to start feeling better and start losing weight! :crying:
  2. thank you! that is good advice!
  3. No, I don't know what size. I know my doctor doesn't use boughies... he uses something similar. I asked him about it and he said he used something else. I'm not sure what or what size it was. His patients have had incredible success, so I trust him.

  5. This is probably a stupid question, but I was just wondering which one you thought was better for after surgery. I was told I could shower or bathe today for the first time since my surgery on Monday :001_smile: Woohoo! Anyways, I was just wondering which one yall thought was easier... they both have there ups and downs.
  6. haha, yes he is a very good looking doctor! The nurses also spoke highly of him, which means a lot. They all said he was very kind and his patients generally did very well. Good luck with getting your surgery scheduled! Do you come to any support group meetings?

    shower or bath?

that makes sense. I do think showering would be easier.
  8. I love Dr. Heider so much! I really trusted him, which was important to me. I like the program they have and I think I made a good decision to go with him instead of the Hickory program. Have you had your surgery yet?
  9. The heating pad has became my best friend. I hate taking the pain pills because they just don't go down easy at all. I am trying really hard to keep sipping, and I have already been on a morning walk! :001_smile:
  10. I have never used the weightloss medicine Alli, but I was wondering if anyone has used it after the sleeve? I am thinking about taking it once I am 3-4 months out to help with weightloss.
  11. Hello all! My surgery is in less than 24 hours! wooohooo! I will be sleeved tomorrow by Dr. Heider at 7am EST =D I am very excited. I was wondering what all of you brought to the hospital? The only specific thing I have on my list so far is CHAPSTICK!

    Southern Sleevers?

Hello! I don't know exactly where you are, but I am in NC and I am being sleeved tomorrow by Dr. Ryan Heider at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He is fantastic! He is by far the most experienced sleeve surgeon in NC. He also has a great personality. I strongly recommend him, and I haven't even been sleeved yet!

    Creamy Jalapeno Sauce

I am one of those people who can't tolerate it! I hate cilantro! And I love Mexican food, hahaha... it can be difficult!

    Got a Date

    Yayyy! Good for you!
  16. I went to Target today and picked up a couple things for after surgery. I got 2 little plates and 2 tiny bowls (they are actually bowls for dips), a toddler size spoon and fork set, a sippy cup, and three little bowls that came with lids! I spent less than 15 dollars for all of that, and I figured I would share with yall that Target had very cute mini plates/bowls/silverware for after surgery portions. If you would like to see a picture of everything I got, here's a link to my blog and the picture is in the first post you will see! VSG Journey! :confused1:
  17. What's the best blender or food processor for making mushie foods?

    Alli, anyone?

Tiffany... I just created an account with myfitnesspal.com! Thanks for the suggestion. I love it! It's really simple and easy to use.
  19. I live in NC and I am being sleeved by Dr. Heider in Mooresville, NC. Anyways, I just got an email from his coordinator that both Aetna & Cigna now cover the Vertical Sleeve Gastrectomy. I don't have either of those insurances, and I don't know if they are just local insurances or if they are nationwide. I just thought I'd share in case anyone DID have those insurances and weren't aware of the new info!

    Alli, anyone?

Thanks Christie, thanks Tiffany. I just feel like I would do better with some sort of specific eating plan. I think it is mostly my mother talking that has got me really worried about it. She keeps telling me that the sleeve isn't going to do all of the work for me and asking me what am I going to do to stay on track. My parents are paying for the surgery for me... it's my graduation gift. I REALLY don't want to waste their money. I know the sleeve isn't going to do everything for me, but I also know it's going to make things a lot easier. It's hard to explain that to her.

    Blog!

I have a blog! Just not here... You can find my blog at this address: http://ellysleeve.blogspot.com/ Check it out!
  22. So my surgery is a week from today! wooohoo! Anyways, I was wondering what I was going to be able to do right after surgery. I know my surgeon requires the patient to be out of bed and going for a little walk down the hallway 4 hours post op. Will I be bored at the hospital? Should I bring my laptop and a book?
  23. erh92

    Alli, anyone?

thanks Christy! I am just really worried that I am NOT going to lose weight with the sleeve. I will be the one person that it doesn't work for. I can't help it, Im a pessimist!

Period during my surgery date, bad?

My doctor actually asks patients to go off birth control pills for at least 2 weeks prior to surgery due to an increased risk in blood clots. My surgery is next monday, and I decided to go off of them the whole month of May. I will probably be on my period around the time of surgery too, and I told the nurse at my dr appointment, and she said it would be fine! they would help me make sure everything was taken care of.
  25. Hello! I was wondering if anyone followed any specific diets after surgery like Atkins or South Beach or The Spark? I am trying to figure out what I want to do after the surgery. Thanks!
