You breathe into this tube thing when they put a plug over your nose for about 10 min. They didnt tell me I needed to fast for it though :-/

I didnt find out about my pre-op diet until my pre-op appt, today. So im sure they will mention it when you go sign the papers!

I was not a fan of optifast, although it wasn't the worse. I am on all liquids starting monday.

Ahh thats horrible! She told me if caffeine makes me hungry to stay away from it, but it usually doesn't. Good luck with the rest of your pre-op diet.. just remember its worth it!

Today I had my pre-op appt and it went alright. I got an ekg and blood taken. I got sick and almost passed out the first time she tried to take blood.. that was a horrible feeling! Other then that it all went well, it all seems so real! I start my pre-op diet Monday! Wish me luck.

I have two insurances, I am under my moms and dads, I am using my moms as my primary and dads and my secondary. My insurance coordinator told me she was very certain I would get approved with my primary insurance but she told me not to get my hopes up on my secondary. She was right. I got approved from the 1st one and denied on the 2nd. They know what there doing, dont let her mind play head games with you! I am worried bout the pre-op diet too! I am afraid I wont have enough energy and I am a very busy person and need that energy! coffee is going to be my best friend!!! haha

I just got back from my pre-op. It went ok. Had to get an ekg and my blood taken (which i got sick and almost passed out). Other then that I found out I have to do a 2 week of liquid diet. She gave me a list of all the things im allowed to eat. Im pretty nervous but totally excited at the same time!

Wow 6 months! I am glad you stuck threw it! I had to do a 3 month, I lost 23 pounds. I am now under 300 and that makes me so happy! My insurance didnt take long to approve me, so I am sure you will be fine! Make sure you keep in touch!

I don't think its possible to eat too many healthy foods. But the insurance should go by your first visit's BMI. I focuses on losing weight on those three months. The less you weigh, the less complications might occur. The point of this surgery is to lose weight and it requires a lifestyle change to work. I suggest you start making that lifestyle change so its not that hard when you get banded. Good luck to you!

My days insurances policy doesn't cover it either, its BCBS of IL but they go threw this different company because hes part of the union. There is nothing I can do about it. Luckly I was only trying to use it as my secondary insurance.

Im going to ask tomorrow at my pre-op appt. I go threw like a pack every 2-3 days. lol

I get it from my gym i go to, xsport . My personal trainer suggests it. Im sure you can find it online or at suppliment stores.

Oh ok, this sounds a bit better!!! HAHA I find out what my pre-op diet is tomorrow, but I already drink Protein Shakes, I have powder I make them myself, I use Plantinum Hydrowhey. I love it, im not a fan of the already made stuff.

Are you guys allowed to chew on some sugar free gum? I am addicted to gum!

2 Protein shakes and only 1 cup veggies and 1 cup fruit is all you get per day! Wow. You can do it!!!!! Goodluck!

He has an office in Oak Brook, which is about 30 minutes from chicago. I haven't met anyone on here having surgery with dr. waktins. I have my pre-op appt tomorrow, I should find out if I have a pre-op diet or not. Have you heard him mention anything about one? I havent.

Wow thats unfortunate! Most insurances will cover it if its over 40 bmi. Good luck with everything and if nothing shows up, have you considering going to Mexico for the surgery?

How high is your BMI? Did they tell you that you needed more then just a high BMI?

Oh really? Well maybe its time to go in and talk to your doctor and tell him/her what is going on and see if that will help any. If you post it in the post-op most of the people there have the band and maybe give you some tips. I cant help much with any tips, I dont get banded till 5/17 but I would be so excited to lose 50 pounds! That would be 1/3 of my goal. Look at the up side. Maybe change up your workout or eating habbits.
