    How many days off work?

My suggestion??? Call your insurance company, and ask them when did the paper work get submitted? it shouldn't take too long to get it back? I kept bugging my insurance company about mine. I got the answer before my surgeons office.
  2. Good luck Spraine, I am only 7 days away from you, so I know I will be feeling the same way as you in just a week from now, and actually at this time next week, I will be in surgery. I have to be at the hospital at 6 am for a 9 am surgery time Wednesday the 19th. I am really excited and I can't wait to be on the loser side of the surgery, but I too have been doing the liquid diet, and it's good, but the one my doctor put me on is not so good. I am doing everything I am supposed to do but the Fiber he gave me is awful!!! Then he gave me Vitamins that I can't take after the surgery cause they are horse pills? I am a little upset about it actually but I can't do anything about it now? So it is what it is, and good luck!!!

    How many days off work?

Hi Futureformerfattie, what are you having for a surgery? I am having a bypass and my surgery is on a Wednesday and I am only taking Wed. - Fri off and going back Monday? I had the Band back in 2010, and I had it on a Thursday and stayed out the whole next week, but I didn't need to, I could have gone back to work on that following Monday? If I still am not feeling well after the weekend, I might take one or two more days but I doubt it. Well Good luck and I hope you get your surgery in time!!! I would talk to your doctor and tell him your situation and let him know you don't want to roll over.

    2-1/2 Weeks

So Happy that my surgery is only 2-1/2 weeks away!!! I have been working on getting my house clean this week and today and man till today I didn't realize how much my weight holds me back. I did most of the cleaning this week and today I just swept the rug up in my hallway upstairs cause it's a low pile rug and I wanted to get all the fuzzy's up and my vacuum is a POS, so I did that and it's only about 15 feet long then swept it down the stairs which there is only 10 stairs with a little landing in the middle and I am sweating like no other and now I just want to take a shower cause I feel like crap? So I don't think I am getting much more done today. I can't believe just how far I let myself get, and how much it holds me back. I am lucky I have a wonderful boyfriend that will help me out with the house cleaning and keeping it up, and my kids well they will when they realize what I just went through after the surgery. They don't know yet, cause I don't want them telling their father or mostly their fathers girlfriend, she thinks I take drugs to loose weight, but i am the biggest anti drug person I know. I don't drink alcohol, and I definitely don't do drugs. So I have decided that I won't tell them till the day before. I just got my paperwork in from the doctor yesterday confirming my date and time for my appointments coming up and I am super excited for all this to begin. I have to go to the hospital where I am having the procedure done on the 4th at 9:30 and then to my doctors right after I am done there, then start my 2 week diet the 5th, and then on the 19th I need to be at the hospital at 6 am for a 9 am surgery. I am going to have to figure out what I will do with my kids that morning so that I can get them off to school, but I am sure my mom will help me out. So I am ready and nothing is stopping me now. I hope that everyone that has their surgeries coming up in march and in the future good luck!!! I know much this means to me, so I know how much this must mean to you too!!

I had to start seeing an endocrinologist because my PCP wouldn't do anything for mine? I just had all my labs done for surgery so it must be OK otherwise I think they would have said something??? Trust me you don't want it done it hurts!!! I cried both times they did it, and I have a high tolerance for pain!!!! It is very hard to lose weight with a hypo thyroid and very easy to gain it and that's why I am having the surgery too!!!

I also have goiters on mine too which when I do see her all she ever wants to do is biopsy my throat and that hurts like heck!!! Have you had that done? Ugh when she says it I always tell her no.

    I need a buddy!

Hi Pupichupi! I am ok. Just nervous about the complications that could occur have me freaked out! I have a BMI of almost 37 and moderate sleep apnea... I lost so much weight int he past but it all comes back. I was in a car accident in June that left me with 9 herniated discs in my back so exercise has been non-existent and I've gained 50lbs! That's when I knew that I had to do something fast. I switched Drs and I'm so happy that I did. My current Dr (Dr Angstadt) New York Bariatric Group has been great. He sat with my husband & I for a 1/2 hr and explained everything to us. My previous Dr said about two words to me in three visits. Since almost all of my clearances are done, I will most likely get a date at my next appt on 3/17...then it's the wait to get approved. In the meantime, I have been reading non-stop. I'm a ball of nerves!! Thank you, thank you, thank you for listening!!! Law001, It's good to read, but don't let some of the stuff get to you, your reading it but your also thinking it's going to happen to you, don't do that, your going to get yourself all worked up that your not going to go through with it. I am a great listener, and if you want to talk any time I can be available. I don't live far, we are in the same time zone anyway so if you want email me and we can exchange emails and we can email all my emails go to my cell I will need the help just as much as you do. To talk to someone who is going through what I am going through. We are all here.
  16. Ok, so I went to my last pre-op today got all registered in the hospital, had to have my pre-op exam at the hospital with some bloodwork, and they checked my heart to make sure it's all in working order, and then met with the anesthesiologist to make sure that I am going to be good with having a tube down my throat??? LOL, then I went to see my surgeon today and he checked me out and we went through final questions and since I was seeing a lot on here about people having a drain I wanted to know about that and he said no he would not be, he told me that he doesn't do them because he feels they cause more leeks in a bypass than if you don't put one in. So I am confident in the way he answered me. We also talked about when the time comes skin removal and he said just follow the steps and if I need any he can do certain parts of it but if there is more than he can do he would send me to a plastics surgeon. So we will see what happens. So I now have my wonderful 2 week diet packet from them and I will be beginning tomorrow. I am super excited and ready to get this going. I talked to my hubby and he is going to take before pictures of me tonight and I plan on taking before liquid diet pics, before surgery pics and then pic's as I go post surgery!!! Hope you all have a great day and good luck to all of you who are on this same journey with me!!!

    I need a buddy!

law001 you have lots of people here to talk to, whats up are you ok? Don't get your self psyched up about other peoples experiences or stressed out on what happens to other people. Every ones experience is different than what yours is going to be. Just remember to follow the rules of your eating and listen to your body. You are going to do great. I am having my surgery on the 19th and I am super excited. Don't let the things you read or hear scare you. I suggest you write down any questions you have and talk to your doctor!!! That is your best reference. Everything that I see on here of things that may or may not happen, it's not everyone, but I talk to my doctor every time I go see him. I don't hesitate to ask him anything. If you ever need to talk people that have had or are about to have the surgery, then your in a good place here. I have met so many nice people on here. So good luck!!!

    The Biggest Loser Effect

Thank you for this post, this was a great post, and a great analogy. I personally LOVE the show the biggest loser and have watched every season since it's started, and every time I watched it I felt like it inspired me somehow that night anyway till the next day and I would just be like whatever, and the the following week I would be watching it again and being like I could do that, and the rotation began. Not this year, I am not being the quitter this time, I am going to be my own biggest loser and I am going to be inspired by myself and show myself how much I can do this I don't need a show to inspire me. Workouts aren't easy, and diets are easy. Life isn't easy, you have to put forth the effort if you really want something, and for a long time I wanted it but I wasn't willing to put forth the effort. I am ready now and I am going to do everything I need to do to get past this point in my life and move to the next chapter!!! So thanks Jean, I am glad you posted this!!!

Welcome Ndipilato, glad you decided to join our group. I understand your worries about the bypass as I am currently doing my liquid diet to have the bypass in a week and a half, I am actually happy with my choice only because I know my body and my self, and I am ready for this. I also am a yoyo dieter, and too have been a heavy person since I was real young. I am ready for this change and this to be the end of obesity for me. I need this to be and that is why I am putting my full head into it. I hope that you get your decision from the insurance company soon and you are happy with the sleeve. The reason I decided on the bypass was because I had the band back in 2010 and it did not work for me, something happen with the band and made a year of hell for me, so I had it taken out in 2011 and was so discouraged that I didn't have a revision done which I should have and I know that now but because of everything I had gone through I didn't trust something else. So I joined weight watchers thinking that I could do that, and went to meetings and everything I lost maybe 10lbs in 5 months. I have a super bad thyroid that I take meds for and I just think that with that issue it hinders me in losing weight. I went to my doctor to ask about bypass and when he said that if I got the sleeve and that didn't work then I could always get the bypass after right then I was like no way, I am having the bypass I am not going to have a surgery knowing that there is one more that i can get and jeopardize my weight loss with that knowing there was something else I could do. I am all set, so that is why I made my choice!!! Well Welcome and good luck!!!

    Not feeling well

don't get upset, if you have questions call your doctor if you feel that it is necessary, but keep breathing, and you will get there, don't forget your stomach is still swollen, what did you have for surgery? Maybe you should try it without the milk. There are people that have a hard time with dairy, not as many as I thought, but I knew a girl that had the bypass a long time ago, and she couldn't drink any milk or eat ice cream or anything, so it might just be that? But like i said if it still happens with the Water try the isopure? it is a little expensive but if its all you can get down then I would suggest it to get your Protein in as it has a lot of protein in it!!!

Have you been drinking your Water, and keeping hydrated? How did you make your shake? Did you use milk or water? I have heard of people not handling the shakes after surgery. I have been on my pre-op diet and I am drinking the shakes and they give me diarrhea too I am using water in them like it says but I feel like crap? I don't know if it's the brand of shake I am using cause I have used the whey that you can buy in walmart, and that doesn't bother me like this one that i got from my doctor? If you are making the shake with milk try it with water and if that still is bothering you I would say try a different Protein substitute drink, such as there is that one from GNC natures choice Isopure, and it's looks like Gatorade? Check it out??? Good luck!!!

    Getting impatient

Hi fellows, I have the same liquid diet, and I have to be on it till my surg. and mine is the 19th, and yes its the same, it is hell at first, like yesterday I by 4 I was starving, but just keep drinking Water in between your shakes, and stuff. You will be in the bathroom every other minute but it's better than getting stomach hunger pains? Also when you do your shake, do it in the blender as much as possible with water or whatever your using and add ice to make it like a milkshake, cause the thicker it is the longer it will keep you from being hungry. Thats what I did, last night I took one of my chocolate shakes and added Peanut Butter to it. So yummy!!! Added Protein. My doctor said I can add fruit, anything I want as long as I am drinking it. So Add what you can to your shake to help keep you from getting hungry!!! Good luck, hope you the best with your surgery.

    Pre-op Started!

Cupcake, I am glad that I could say something to make you feel better and help you out. That's what I am here for, also glad that you talked to your doctor and they said they would get you the next possible date as it's important not to make you wait too long cause that is discouraging. Just stay strong and get ready. I started my 2 week diet Wednesday and it SUCKS!!! I am so hungry!!! Yesterday by 4 I was starving, I was drinking Water by the gallons to try to supplement for that empty feeling? It just wasn't helping? So as soon as I got home I made a chocolate shake with Peanut Butter in it. That filled me right up!!! So I know it's going to be ok, but I just wish I could do more during the day than just the shakes and one Protein bar? I was thinking of calling my doctors today to see if I could also add a greek yogurt? Well anyway I will continue to post!!! As do you!!! Good luck and hope it comes soon.
