Pre chemo and post band, I was losing some of my thick wavy blonde hair; after chemo it grew in hyper curly - like a little lamb - just after I wash it and very, very thick. It is so thick that it has no room to lie down on my head but grows straight up. Folks who see it are amazed by it. It is now 3" tall. And it is grey and darker in patches. Doesn't match the rug at all! LOL That is still blonde.

    Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!

Batty knows.... God told her, eh.
  4. Oh, you sound pathetic what with your mistakes in spelling and grammar and your persistent ignorant self-congratulatory attitude and your belief in your Sky-Daddy. You sound ill-educated and not in control of your facts. Do read The Economist, for God sakes, not just the Bible!

    Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!

I think that the doc that was responsible for the transplants should be on the hook financially for their care.
  6. Lemmee just add that if I were an abortion doc, I would be south of the border handing out free abortions with my handy-dandy foetus vaccuum cleaner fighting the self-righteous fanatics like Battygreen all the way.

    Obama's stimulus package decision

Thanks, BJean, for your fine reply. If Batty doesn't have the ears to hear, well, I am inclined to blame her God for this. As for the soubriquet 'Batty,' I calls 'em as I sees 'em.
  8. Thanks, Gadget, for your help. It is true that I am concerned for my niece.

I lost all my hair due to chemo and when it grew back it grew in thicker and curlier - think little lamb's curls - and darker and greyer. It is so thick that it has no room to lie down and so it is growing straight up on my head

    Obama's stimulus package decision

Well, this post is very disheartening to read. If I were that man it would want to make me give the health care system the finger. And he really could, too. Har.

    Obama's stimulus package decision

Canada's system does run smoothly and the city where I live is certainly not crawling with crazed Mao-ists. I am not told what doc I can see, and universal health care has been helpful to me. I have seen our system up close and personal as I have been receiving extensive treatments for cancer. Stateside, this could have cost me a lot of cash, I believe, but up here I have received great care including home visits from nurses and a dietician and a speech pathologist, and all the specialized equipment that I have needed, and the state has covered it all. I get to keep my house. In all fairness, I suspect that the level of care which I have received is due to the fact that I live in a large city. One of the problems Canada has is that we are thinly populated, and hospitals, MRIs, etc are expensive. I suspect that where health care is profit driven, this level of care would not improve any. I would be inclined to take the negative comments that you hear about universal health care with more than a grain of salt; afterall, you are hearing this via Big Business and they will put their spin on things, won't they. As for same sex marriages, well, we got that, too, and there was a great outcry at the time but the roof hasn't fallen in. No straight unions were harmed through this measure. Personally, I am pro same sex marriages. It would seem that homosexuals are born, they do not choose to be that way. This is true of black folks, too. Why then, deny these loving couples the peace and the stability and pleasure that they will achieve through marriage? Because Canada's population is so small, we have a different relationship to our government than you seem to have to yours. We are more intimately involved and do feel that the state is us and is not our enemy. Under our parliamentary system it is possible to have a minority government; this means that the government is inherently unstable and that it, well, it must remain sensitive to the will of the voter for an election can be called at any time. Voters have long memories, you know. lol

    Obama's stimulus package decision

This post touches me very much. Obama visited Canada recently where he received a very warm welcome. His values are Canadian values and our banks were relatively unaffected by the great upheaval south of the border; this was due to our government's legislative interference. We also have universal health care and none of our citizens are left uncovered by the cost of health insurance premiums. It is the taxpayer which pays for this, it is true, but this system cuts out the big business middleman, and is much cheaper (by approximately 2,000 dollars per capita than your system). Up here same sex marriage is legal. Why? Because we have legislation in place which protects the rights of minorities. The majority certainly will not do so. It annoys me when folks like Pattygreen who display themselves as being ill-read and unknowledgeable begin to shoot off their big mouths about such complex issues. Answers to these issues will not be found in the Bible. You should try reading The Economist, Patty. Obama is one step ahead of you; he has gone to Harvard, and this indicates that he knows how to read and research topics. I must say that I tend to pay more attention to Gadget's, who is her co-religionist, posts because she displays an ability to get around the internet and she makes few spelling and grammatical errors. Cleo's mum has made cogent points in her refutation of Battygreen's commentary. You would do well to study these. The wealthy will never be exempt from corrupt desires and greed. It is for this reason that legislation is required to curb raw capitalism. Remember, PattyG, that it is easier for the wealthy to enter through the eye of the needle than it is for them to enter Heaven. Is that not what it says in yer Bible????

    Obama's stimulus package decision

My brother, who lives in Virginia and who voted for Obama, has told me that his presidency isn't even that old and yet the local newspapers are already filled with letters to the editor complaining about his poor performance. He figures that you should give the guy a chance. The way I see it, the problems which he has inherited from the Bush Incompetency Project are complex and systemic. It will take much time and many failures before they get fixed. I cannot say that the alternative - those yahoos, McCain and Palin - would be likely to do much better.
  15. It is true that Green comes from a family of atheists and her niece may be vulnerable to conversion at this moment: she is dealing with the twin griefs of my cancer having returned, I am in the palliative care stage, and her abortion. Gadget, I really appreciate what you are doing for myself and my niece: are these folks affiliated with any sort of religion?

    Betrayal is a BITCH

I think that you will be surprised at how much you will come to enjoy living alone. I split up with my first husband when I was in my 20s. He was cheating on me and he was a chronic cheat. I became very close with his long term girlfriend and he cheated on her, too. He actually came on to me while he was with her! My life sure was more interesting after he left. I have no regrets. I was able to meet and date some really great guys and do a lot of travelling, something that we would not have been able to afford to do had I stayed with him. It seems to me that the advice and the friendship that you are getting from your friends on this site are rock solid. Good luck in your brand new life.

    Obama's stimulus package decision

They say that Rome wasn't built in a day. Obama inherited a big fat stinking mess, and it will take time, and lots of it, in order that Washington might fix this. And you have yer Republicans who are suspicious of too much government intervention: this may, practically speaking, mean that Obama will find that his hands are tied in so far that his government can develop programmes of intervention - these may be considered unacceptable and unwelcomed by many Americans. It is obvious to me that your businesses flourished during the 1990s without government scrutiny and legislation and to what effect? Incompetency and criminal greed were the order of the day and now your big businesses - employers of so many, many Americans and a source of wealth to shareholders, some of whom are retirees, are now in the toilet. But shit, as they say, runs down hill, and this financial malaise is now affecting all of us - even on a global level. The middle east is a special mess and Bush should never have gotten involved there. It is impossible to introduce democracy as we who live inside North America know it to this region which thrives on tribal and religious allegiances. Had he done his research, been less arrogant, instead of simply reading the Bible and figuring that all folks are like Americans, he would have been aware of this factor. This also holds true in Afghanistan, an unwinnable war. Our Canadian premier, by the way, has gone on record as stating that the Afghanistan offensive is unwinnable. We have troups stationed there and they are dying. Many Canadians want us out but he has pledged our troups will remain until 2011. I have done much reading on these issues and they are fascinating and ultimately very depressing. It is worthwhile noting that the Soviets were unable to retain their control over Afghanistan and they were constrained by comparatively few concerns for human rights, unlike Canada and America. It is very difficult to defeat insurgents, particularly those who are able to draw their strength and take shelter within the Pakistan border. Yes, that is right: America has been funding with your tax dollars Pakistan who in turn has been sheltering and aiding and abetting the Taliban insurgents. It is a real mess this which Obama has inherited from the previous administration.

    Betrayal is a BITCH

I kinda like anything that the Reverend Al Green sings. You might want to listen to him.
  20. Thanks, Gadget, for your concern. She lives in a small Canuck town outside of Toronto.
  21. My niece phoned me last night on an unrelated matter and felt compelled to tell me that she had just had an abortion. She was pregnant with twins, it seems. She felt ambivalent about the matter for she loves babies but she is already the single mother of a difficult and unlovely 10 year old who suffers from dyslexia and is a school teacher with a large mortgage and other financial headaches. Now, she took a cooling off period. Upon learning that she was pregnant with twins, she opted out of having the abortion the same day and returned home in order to think about it. That night she phoned my brother and asked if he and his second wife (who is unable to have children) would like them. He replied that should she opt to go through with the pregnancy, she will be in the poorhouse for the rest of her life. He also plans not to mention her offer to his wife. He himself is ambivalent about starting a second family at this late date; he is in his mid-50s and is now thinking of retirement. (We Greens are not over-fond of working. lol This runs in our family.) And his first family have cost him a bunch of bucks which were spent helping them with their univ education, buying their first houses for 'em, visiting them - they all live in Canada except for one who lives in Australia and he lives in Virginia. Even in socialized Canada, life as a parent is expensive. Daycare is difficult to find and is costly. Healthcare is free thanks to our taxpayers. Universities, though subsidized, still cost a bunch o bucks. My niece is in her early 30s, has just begun her career as a teacher, and fights depression (something which runs in the Green family) and she has just bought herself a house. She has got herself a big mortgage to handle. Having these twins would mean that her life would become narrowed down in oh so many ways. I am hoping that she will get over the grief and guilt and begin to see that, sadly, she had no other options open to her. I plan to do everything within my power to help her see the upside of this choice. It certainly is tough to be a single mum. She tells me that she now has the IUD.

    Let's Talk Movie Review

I saw it on the stage and it was great. They say the movie is good. Lucky you. Have fun and this should be easy what with the wine and all.......
  23. I have gotta say that now that I am skinny I can wear high fashion stuff and I am really enjoying this. It does look much better with small tits, however. If you want favourable attention from the men, dye your hair blonde; they seem to like this. *wink* And they like lipstick.

    Octuplets and SIX other children??!!!

There is something quite irritating about someone making a decision and yet being unable to stand up on one's own hind two feet and carry it through. This is the situation with Octotwat; she displays a real welfare mentality. I am Canadian and our welfare state is much more elaborate than yours is and we pay the taxes for this. It is there for the use of those who fall upon genuinely hard times. Let us say that Octomom has all those kiddies and can support 'em, then she gets cancer and cannot: that is whom the welfare state is there for. It is difficult for me to feel concern or tenderness for Octotwat; she has made her bed and there she must lie and whine. I am surprised that no one has gone after the fertility doc yet.
  25. I voted yes. From my observations she is very immature and lives in la-la land. As Dr. Phil said, "those babies have a job..." She had them without thinking of them and their welfare and still seems incapable of anything but selfish self-justification. Her treatment of her own mother is dire. The chances are excellent that some of them are going to be special needs kids and she certainly will not be able to attend to these kids who will use up all her time and energies.
