    face book bandits

I am 59 and I got my first tattoo about three weeks ago. I got a smiley face about the size of a silver dollar on my ankle. The tattoo artist said he had never done a smiley face before and took a picture of it for his catalog.. It hurt but I am tough.... LOL!!!! It felt like a lot of bee stings to me......Hugs!!!

    face book bandits

I sent a request to joim the group and I also tried to add as many of you as I could. Some of the email addresses didn't work so if I missed some of you, please feel free to add me. donnajo1951@gmail.com I didn't tell anyone in the beginning either and I totally understand why you are not ready to tell folks. I even had a separate FB page for band stuff for awhile. Then when people started noticing and started asking me what I did to lose weight, I just started telling people. Then I got rid of my other FB page and combined them. My Band doc is even one of my friends!! I woulld love to see you all over on FB!! Cheers!
  3. [QUOT1E=NYsLegend78;1505707]Incase you have not noticed but umm times are changing and people are starting to become more open minded:smile2: I agree there is a button on your computer keyboard somewhere that will take you away from objectionable material. I suggest you use it!! You don't watch tv programs that offend you, so the one with the problem here is in fact you!! Hugs!!!

    Hair loss

It happens to some and not to others. I was one who didn't have to deal with it. I did start Nioxin 6 weeks before surgery, so hopefully it will be ok. You do need to find a way to stop worrying about it. Focusing on it makes it worse. Remember that a normal head of hair has fall out every day, about 100 hairs. Yours may be more right now, but don't expect it to stop completely because it is normal to lose hair. You may have started to slow down, but because you are obsessed with it, you could be making it worse. Relax, it will stop and it will regrow. Make sure you are getting enough calories and make sure you are making healthy food choices, like not eating ice cream for dinner.... Hugs......
  5. I definitely think you are not eating enough. You need to figure out how to get another meal worked in. People who don't eat breakfast weigh more than those who do eat it... Hugs!!!!
  6. I just sit down, close my eyes and remember why I got the band in the first place, so I would not be able to give in to those times. Usually fixes it for me!!! Hugs!!!
  7. You can get a loan to get a Lap-Band. Consider a mexican band, lots less money and very good care. I borrowed the money and feel like my life is completely different. Well worth it!!! Hugs!!!
  8. Focus on the things that are going well!! I promise more things will go well. You have to be the one who changes, other people won't ever change. They have their own issues to deal with. Just keep doing your best and it will work... Hugs!!!
  9. Sometimes we have to sit back and think about the fact that we actually trained him to be the way he is. Men, for the most part are clueless. We do it all thinking they will appeciate it so much they will feel sorry for us and just help!! I had to throw a screaming fit one time to get my kids dad to mow the lawn when I was 9 months pregnant. I stayed mad at him for months instead of looking at my part in the situation. You might try having a heart to heart with him and tell him you are getting ready to go on strike if you don't get some help. Then be prepared to follow through!! One time I got mad at my husband because he was bitching about the food I cooked.... I bought a fridge full of TV dinners and stopped cooking. He looked at those TV dinners and said "Wow that looks spendy" I said "yep about three times more than the food you complained I was wasting. After a week, he got it, and appologized. He sweetly asked me to cook Breakfast and I never heard another complaint about food.. It is really up to us to fix it, but it won't happen over night. Good luck!!! Hugs...
  10. Too many carbs will make you more hungry!! You can get more protein in easily on liquids. Put eggs, cheese, meat, fish, etc into your blender and thin them with chicken broth. try to stay away from carbs now more than ever because they cause over production of insulin which causes hunger..... Hugs....
  11. I have noticed that many people who get the band do not deal with their food issues. They expect the band to do it. These are often the ones who end up in serious trouble. The subconsious mind will sabatage us no matter what if we don't deal with the underlying causes of obesity. You should consult a professional and you should get a small amount of fluid taken out of your band until you are mentally ready to deal with it... Hugs!!!
  12. I can't stay out of the plus size section either even though I try hard. I end up in Plus and maternity all the time. I also cook and take too much food and spend a lot of time feeding other people. I also am surprised when someone says they didn't recognise me. I feel the same inside so the mind thing takes much longer than the actual process of weight loss. I wonder how long? Hugs!!!
  13. Mine was supportive and went with me to get the surgery!! We are now divorced for other reasons, but I am sure his parents think it is because I lost weight. I had to quit worrying about what people think a long time ago and worry about me. My ex is a good friend and compliments me often. I hope we can remain friends however I haven't started seeing anyone yet so I guess time will tell..... Hugs!!!!
  14. It is necessary to post a thread like this at least once a week or so.... Those of you who are newly banded need to read this and take note. 1. You are likely to lose a quite a bit the first week or so after surgery but if you are one who doesn't, don't worry, it will happen. 2. You won't lose much in the first weeks or even months because you don't have restricrtion yet!! You need to heal first then worry about weight loss after at least a few weeks!!! 3. Restriction takes from a few weeks to a few months depending on your surgeon and his/her belief systom. 4. You have in some cases a lifetime of issues with weight to solve. Be sure you do the work on this either before or after surgery. Some people cannot lose weight because of deep seated emotional issues.. Our subconsious mind has been programed by our life experiences. No surgery in the world will fix this. Please consider getting professional help with it 5. Be willing to follow your intuition. If you don't think something will work, don't eat it. Your body is talking to you, just listen. 6. If you get stuck, you will be swollen.. Go back to liquids, then mushies, then solids. Listen to your body, if it doesn't make sense to eat after a stuck episode, don't eat. 7. Everytime you miss food, make a mental inventory of why you did this to begin with... We did it to reduce the amount of food we eat so we can unload ther weight we have carried around for sometimes a lifetime. 8. Remember, we didn't get this fat overnight. It won't go away overnight either... let me know what I have missed.... I will repost it in a week ot two for those things!! Hugs!!!
  15. I will include this nest time also!!
  16. I will include this one when I post it again!!
  17. It totally could be the diet coke. I had to be salt free with my first pregnancy and was told not to use diet sodas because of the sodium!! Hugs!!!
  18. Remember that people who drink soda, diet or otherwise weigh 20% more than people who drink water!!!!

    tightness question

Gradually increase your exercize and make a pact to stay away from carbs for a couple weeks. Eat meat and green vegs only!! Snack on Cheese and lean luncheon type meat and quit after 7pm. This will increase your energy, and it will help you tame your cravings. Your protein shake in the morning needs to be the lowest carb one you can find. I think your attitude will also improve in just two short weeks. You will be so convinced, you will be excited to continue it... You will lose 1 pound a week for sure and sometimes two pounds!! That is the healthiest way to do it... If you can't eat in the morning, you don't need a fill. Just choose different foods for awhile and see if it helps!! Hugs~~~

    Slipped Band???

Possible reflux, possible too tight, possible swelling from a stuck episode. Recommend doing liquids for a day or two then gradually add back mushies then solids!!! Hugs
  21. I was surprised to find out I didn't like it anymore!! I drink a small one occasionally and it reminds me I just don't like it anymore!! The only thing I like is water and wine!! :bolt: hugs!!!

    Plateau?

Only expect one pound per week and only after you get to full restriction. This is the proper expectation and anything else is icing on the cake!!! Hugs!!!

    tightness question

Are you drinking tons of water and exercizing? Just wondering.......
  24. I also don't count calories!! I just eat protein first then some vegs if there is room. Two planned snacks and that is it!!! You should do what feels comfortable unless you can not lose weight.... Your body type may mean something more to your nut than it does to you, you should ask them that question... Hugs!!!
  25. I had something similar happen to me. I toyed with the idea of an unfill but instead, I went back to liquids and papaya enzymes.. Two days of that, then mushies for a day then slowly back to solids.. I am really tight in the morning and sometimes even have trouble with my half cup of coffee. I think I caused my problem by taking my meds too early, causing a stuck episode. From now on they get taken at noon.
