I am now 4 days post op!!

A big hearty welcome to the "losers bench". Congrats on being brave and getting er done.
  2. sorry for all the typing errors,, in last post..
  3. I feel a pain when i turn to the left of bend over. The pain is on my left side, over on the side. I am not going to worry about it unless it starts to get worse, but other than that feeling pretty good, unless I try to take to big of a swallow. This morning I chugged some fat free milk almost like I did preop.. Paid a dear price for the error with some bend ya over pain.. That will help me to remember not to try and chug and liquids like in the old days. I just forgot,, ouch..

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

I just did and it works. I can easily suck through a straw. Eating with a baby spoon so as not to take a big bite. I used cheddar fish let them get soaked, tortilla soup, added a little lite cheese, water and unflavored Unjury. Made 4 ozs. About half gone as I type. I blended it in my magic bullet, then put in a bowl to check the texture, microwaved it. It is the texture of tomato soup, pretty thin. It is good but not quite the same as being able to chew, and miss feeling a crispy cracker. First couple of spoons actually hurt a little, but ok now. At least I am feeling full and bloated and don't have a sweet taste in my mouth.. I don't even like jello or popsicles any more and I thought I would never get tired of those.

    Protein-laced HOT Tea!

Thanks Stacy.. Anyone know of any protein drink or tea that tastes like chips and salsa??? I want meaty, chipping, hot or sour stuff,, sick of sweet, but today I start with full liquids and my doc has cream soups in that category. Maybe I can take some chips, tortilla soup, a little salantro and some lite sour cream,, and blend it into a cream soup,,, what cha think?

Trying out web cam, down 32lbs.

Thanks deedee, but that is actually since the start of my preop diet, but I still feel good about it.
  8. how much weight have you lost? I would call his office and advise them, but I don't think it will change anything. Just keep the carbs super low now and protein high. I cheated some too, but doc said I did a good job. I did a few small cheats, you did one big one,, Stay positive, take control, you can do it, but do let him know prior. If he puts you off for a couple days that would be the worse case scenerio. See ya on the other side!

    Calling All Sleevers

I don't think you could gain back 50% of your lost weight when you have had the vertical sleeve gast and still be getting in your protein. I am 6 days out and down 37 pounds since day started preop diet, and down 14 pounds since surgery 6 days ago. Not good for long term research however. I think after a few years most people don't come to these forums any more. Longest person I know, is 3 years out, not really gained any back, just bouncing around a few pounds on where she is. The sleeve of the past was the first 1/2 of a duodenal switch and they would leave more stomach due to the malabsorption of the re-routing of the duodenal. So if the person never went back and got the second half of the surgery they could eat more than someone having the sleeve.

After 3 weeks preop diet & 6 days Post Op

Just started getting into a 42 pant and 42 belt, 6 days after surgery. Feels pretty darn good.
  11. Youknowit, So glad to hear you are doing better. Yes, I made a post on a thread last night on how I was craving some real food. TV commercials are driving me nuts. My stomach actually feels bloated, but yet it growls a lot, so I keep giving it fluids, which of course run right through. I start with thicker fluids tomorrow, maybe that will quite it down some. I am down to 271lbs this morning, starting weight pre pre-op diet was 308. Loosing it so fast starting to have concerns. I am taking my regular meds plus an antacid from Dr. A. That is 6 pills which I cut in half and quarter the big ones. It takes me more than an hour to get them all down. I have concerns about a piece of one getting in my suture line and causing problems but was told to not worry about that, as pills will break down with moisture then don't need to be digested like say meat, lettuce, etc. For protein I am having one Unjury Chicken soup (which is surprisingly good) and have unflavored Unjury in my jello. I am not getting the 70-80 grams, but that won't be a problem starting tommorow since I can drink shakes and eat cream type soups.
  12. Thanks to all you great "Sleevers". I visited Dr. Alvarez Monday and confirmed my Sleeve date for February 1st. The thing I dread most is he requires me to be on a liquid diet for 3 weeks. I understand why, but for a food addict I think it is going to be tough. Anyone have any suggestions what a food addict can do to make it through. :001_tt1: :crying: :001_smile:
  13. Hey pumpkin07. Wow another Houston sleever. I was sleeved on the 1st of Feb, no regrets so far,, I am on a high. Best thing I have ever done with myself. I am sure you will be ok, sounds like you have a good support system with family. First couple days were rough, but well worth it and getting better fast. Wishing you and yours the best, keep us in the loop with how your doing.
  14. Hope, thanks for starting the thread. It is very interesting and I look forward to being 8weeks post op. Has anyone noticed a change in their desire for food? I am a few days out and wanting some real food badly. Hope my desire goes away a little with time. Thanks all!
  15. Hey Tennessee, I was sleeved 5 days ago, and feeling so much better now. Unfortunately I really want a Sonic hamburger,, but I know that would be sleeve suicide.. Just do as your doctor instructs you and the recovery is pretty quick. (pending any complications out of your control). I fee so good and have so much energy. My problem is now is that I can go to sleep for a couple hours then wake up and can't go back to sleep. I can live with that,, for the time being anyway. Here's wishing you a speedy recovery and many awesome 'sleeve moments' to come.
  16. Well done mate. I do believe that is the first bariatric song I have heard. Woodlands area here, good to see someone so close to home. Welcome to VST! When I went to meet my doctor Jan 4th, I was tight in a 46 waist pant, I was sleeved on Feb 1st, and wore size 42 jeans today that I forgot I even owned it had been so long. They were not tight but did slant in the front,, LOL,, still felt good. 34lbs lost since Jan 4th.

    Yummiest PB Shake!

PB2 is pretty good, but a little watery for a sandwich. My favorite shake I call a Snickers Bar shake. I take chocolate Unjury shake, add spoon of pb2, and some sugar free, calorie free, carb free pancake syrup.. mmmm,,, mmmmm,,, good.. I go on full liquids in two days,, can't wait for my Snickers Shake.

    Out of the twos!

DeeDee, congrats on saying farewell to the 2's. Looking great. LOL,, I feel good to be in the 2's.. hope to join you in a few months.
  19. I was sleeved by Dr. Alvarez on Monday, 5 days ago. I am down 31 pounds since my first visit in his office. Lost 22 lbs pre-op. I have no bruising what so ever. Dr. Alvarez and his staff were great. Many people have very little pain. My first two days were pretty rough, but I have never had an operation before. But the 3rd day there was a marked improvement. Now I have discomfort but very seldom any pain. Would I do it again, you betcha. My energy level is very high and I am feeling really well. So expect some pain, if you don't have any that is great. If you do remember it gets better every day and by the 4-5th day, you will feel so good the little pain you felt, if any, is trivial. Feel free to PM any questions to me, or if you want a step by step scenerio of my experience in Mexico. :thumbup1:

  22. Hey there and thanks. First 2 days were a little rough. I expected a little pain from the incisions but had more from inside that I was not expecting. But that has dimished greatly on day 3. Thank you for all your support I will keep posting if you have any questions I will be glad to answer them. I am impressed with zero bruising at the incision sites.

  23. Hey Mellaella, Thank you. The first two days were kinda rough, but things seem to move along fairly quickly towards recovery. My Dr. told me before I checked out this morning to follow the post op diet very carefully and I will never have to diet again.. Man that was good to hear. Hope things are going well for you and yours.
