Sounds like a lot of that is water weight too. Don't stress too much, I know its easy. I went from gaining nothing to gaining 10lbs in a month and its a shock at first, but my doctor wasn't concerned at all and reminded me that Im still doing a great job and just be smart about things.

Getting a fill while BFing? (X-posted in Fill Group)
Heather_8.1.14 replied to ErinMarie's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Can I ask why you aren't producing enough milk? Do you pump and base what you get out of that on whether its a decent amount or not? For many women they dont get as much from pumping but babies actually get more when they are at the breast so dont let that get you discouraged. Also, drink lots and lots of water, its a very simple thing and will help your supply as well. And congrats on that baby mama! Like I told another poster on here, it takes 9 months to put the weight on, it takes at least 9 months to get it off, and you will. Right now, enjoy that sweet bundle of joy -
Gaining weight after baby.
Heather_8.1.14 replied to Pinklilli's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Don't feel like a failure! The rule of thumb is it takes 9 months to put the weight on, it takes at least 9 months+ to take it off. I don't think there is anything wrong with getting a slight fill while you are still breastfeeding, as long as you are still able to maintain a good diet and supply for your little one Are you drinking enough water? Breastfeeding takes a lot out of you and will make you feel hungrier when in fact you really could just need to hydrate yourself more. Good luck! -

37 weeks and intense left rib pain!!!
Heather_8.1.14 replied to stacyp83's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
You can do it mama. My first baby was 10lbs 1oz 22 inches long and I didn't have any GD, just BIG babies! My third was 9lbs 2oz and my doctor is pretty sure I'm looking at another 9lbs 1/2'er this time again too! Good luck! Make sure to post some pics of that sweetie pie -
I have always had to have a full unfill during my pregnancies but I usually waited to be re-filled until after I was done breastfeeding. As long as you are able to maintain a healthy amount of calories, not vomiting and your baby is gaining weight, then there is no reason you couldn't get a fill or two, or remain filled after pregnancy and into breastfeeding. Good luck and I think its great you're ahead of the game and doing research!!

LapBand Before Having Kids/Pregnancy
Heather_8.1.14 replied to txgirl10326's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
This is why its very hard to ask a specialty doctor their opinion on something that isn't in their field. While your ob/gyne does specialize in fertility/pregnancy/child birth etc they do not have much more then a simple idea of a different type of surgery/specialty like WLS. To be completely honest (and this could be the hormones talking LOL) but I really don't think it was your gynes place to give you her personal opinion, especially if she has not seen what success people can have with a WLS (or babies born with moms who had WLS). I am on band baby #2 and my ob/gyne was THRILLED when I walked into her office a few years ago, much thinner, and exclaimed I was pregnant again. (I had two children prior to my WLS as well). When I went to see her 7 months ago she said that I still looked fantastic (asked me how things were going) and was very happy to see that I was happy to be having another baby. She assures me every month I'm doing a great job on handling my weight/blood pressure, etc and is always very positive. I have only gained about 14lbs this time (I say only because I gained 52lbs with my last, and lost all but 15lbs) but she assures me that I got the weight off once and she knows I'll do it again. A lot of times your surgeon will want you to wait 18-24 months because that's usually the time frame it takes to get the weight off and maintain. A healthy mama will make beautiful healthy babies. Do what feels right for you, and congrats on taking this exciting step! -
37 weeks and intense left rib pain!!!
Heather_8.1.14 replied to stacyp83's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Gall bladder pain isn't that high, its more around the sides and back. I had mine removed 6 months after my son was born in 2011. To be completely honest, it could be that your baby is on the bigger side and is shoving a leg or foot up there. I'm almost 27 weeks and my son sits just like my other one did, up almost in my chest cavity. (Obviously NOT but you get the idea lol). He has a tendency to shove his leg up into my rib cage and booooy that hurts. The reason you might get relief when laying down is simply because that will put your baby into a slightly different position/angle in there. Hang in there, the end is in sight!! -
Congrats! Everyone is having babies, yay! Ceres is right, so I would have offered the same advice, but yes, enjoy your pregnancy! This is such an exciting time in your life
-
Congrats on your pregnancy!! I agree with hazelbliss, just make sure you listen to your body and if you notice that something doesn't seem right (ie excess vomiting, stomach pain, etc) contact your surgeon about a full or partial fluid removal. But most importantly, enjoy your pregnancy, and remember, you got the weight off once, you can do it again

So many questions! (long post, sorry)
Heather_8.1.14 replied to melzie_99's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats on your pregnancy! I am almost 7 months along. So far my weight gain has been 10lbs (although I see the dr again next week so we'll see what that number says) and I had to have my band emptied at 10 weeks due to horrible morning sickness. There are days where I could eat everything in sight and there are days I'm just not all that hungry (I think the heat sometimes has something to do with that too, but I do my best to push my fluids). My port sticks out like a turkey timer and sometimes my son will kick at it and it can hurt. At this point mine has flipped onto its side but this is my 2nd band baby and I know that it will go back to normal once baby comes. If you are gaining weight and baby is growing on schedule I wouldn't worry too much about it. Good luck! -
Problems After Having Baby
Heather_8.1.14 replied to Karce2012's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I did and after many visits to the dr and tests galore it turns out my gall bladder was going bad. I would talk to your surgeon, remember, everything in your body is trying to go back to its normal position. Good luck! -
how long did everyone wait after LB to get pregnant
Heather_8.1.14 replied to ARLinda's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Awww honey I am so sorry for your loss While your mind has you in baby fever mode, take a minute and think about how far you've already come with your weight loss since surgery. And remember, only God knows what he has in store for us, everything in our lives happens for a reason, so please don't be sad or disappointed if it doesn't happen again right away. Keep a positive mind and know that it will happen and when it does, you're gonna make a great mommy, and one big reason why? Is because you made a HUGE step to a healthier lifestyle and so you can live a very long, healthy life and have LOTS of babies!!! Good luck! -
Slippage after Giving Birth?
Heather_8.1.14 replied to sarahny0's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Just wanted to come by to see how things are for you OP. Have you seen your doctor? -
Its very unlikely for your port to detach during pregnancy. I was banded Feb 2010 and got pregnant in Nov 2010 and other then stretching of my muscles and abdomen I didn't have any trouble. It does become uncomfortable and hurts a bit when you are further along in your pregnancy, but right now I am currently 20 weeks pregnant and the only issue I have is it looks like my turkey timer is sticking out LOL. Have you had the surgery yet or is July 23rd when you're going in? I think you really need to weigh your options as to whether you want to get pregnant now or lose weight. It really wont do you much good if you have it then get pregnant a very short while later. I had waited until I hit my 50%+ goal and my health issues stabilized (blood pressure, etc..) then I asked my surgeon for "permission" per say. Your best bet is to talk everything through with your doctor, they will help you feel at ease about everything. Good luck!

Port removal while pregnant?
Heather_8.1.14 replied to Daisy Duke's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Honestly, it sounds like the muscles/skin area where your port is is stretching and pulling while you're pregnant. I had that with my last band baby and it felt awful, I thought the walls of my abdomen were being completely torn apart. Try warm compresses and massaging the area where your port is, that helped for me. Mine is starting to bother me again but really its just weird to look at lol. Good luck! -
Did any one have problems with weight lose after birth
Heather_8.1.14 replied to ila's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Congrats on your baby girl!!! Are you breastfeeding by chance? Breastfeeding helps get weight off faster, but if not that's perfectly OK! Give yourself time and credit, you just had a baby. Enjoy that sweet blessing and you got that weight off once, you can do it again Good luck!! -
I've had this conversation with my doctor before, basically what they told me is the normal gummy vites (NOT with any extras!) you just take two instead of one. Or, you can even do the flinstone/kids ones as well (same thing, just take two).

Band Baby- Upcoming First Fill! Excited!
Heather_8.1.14 replied to NewStart95987's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Biggest thing I can offer you is don't be too concerned or overly upset if you don't feel restriction right away. A lot of surgeons are different and may only do .5cc's at a time, or some as many as 3cc's at your first fill. I didn't feel a good restriction until about my 3-4th fill. And happy belated birthday to your sweet baby <3 Good luck! Keep us posted! -
Congrats on your pregnancy!!! Having that feeling in the first few months is normal. The first 14 weeks were the worst, and now I eat anything I get my hands on LOL (within reason). Talk to your dr and see about Zofran or some other kind of anti nausea pill. They work wonders. Make sure to get your water in! Especially being pregnant in the summer. Its super easy to dehydrate

32 Weeks prego. .. Do I need to get an unfill if having a C Section
Heather_8.1.14 replied to Ruthie0924's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
I've never had a c/s so Im not quite sure of the answer. Your best bet is to ask your surgeon and talk with your OB. Good luck! -
Their are other forms of birth control, such as an IUD or nuva ring which do not cause weight gain. I was on the nuva ring for 7 years and never had any problems with it. Call your gyne and set up an appointment to go over all of your options. Good luck
