  1. Oy, 23 days out so far. Still on mushies, pretty over mushies honestly. Down 11 lbs since surgery day, 21 since pre-op diet, and 44 since I started seeing the surgeon about getting the band. I'm okay with the slow loss, I was prepared for it. Had my first stuck episode 3 days ago, didn't even know it could happen pre fill. Was scary as heck, could not breathe for the life of me, didn't know what was happening at the time. Def. don't want that to happen again. Been feeling a lil weird since then, foods I could get down a few days ago are feeling really heavy and like they are sitting up top, not sure what's going on, but keeping to liquidy meals for the next few days. Don't see my surgeon until the 18th, not sure how I will do keeping on mushies till then, esp since I have issues getting protein in, since I can not stand pureed meats *barf* and no protein shake/mix has sat right with me, have a basket full of powders I can't use now, they all make me gag and toss my cookies. So last few days been getting less then half my needed protein, oy vey. But, while it all sounds terrible, I am doing okay. It's been harder because ever since I started birth control to help regulate my monthly (sorry fellas) I have had a non stop period. I started BC on like the 27/28th of July so a whole month now with cramps, lower back pains and bloating. Lovely, I know lol I'm hoping once that stops, if it ever does, that I will feel more comfortable and less moody so things will be easier. *crossing fingers* How are you all holding up?
  2. Hello! I was banded the 5th in NYC. I was on clear liquids for 10 days pre-op and after surgery the following day I started on Mushies/ Soft foods (fish). I have been on Mushies and fish for 11 days now, getting so tired of fish and soup. Esp. since I can't have any cream soups. After surgery I was in pain but the morphine pump was my best friend. No gas until a day or two after being home. Now I have really bad shoulder pain on my left hand side and my tailbones sore from sleeping on my back. I also seem to have two of my incisions, including the port one, infected. Hoping I can reach my surgeon come tmw. I got a fill during surgery, but not sure how much. Felt some restriction after surgery, but I'm sure that was due to the swelling, as I was super swollen the first few days. Still have bloating in the mornings. Had my first lesson learned the hard way yesterday. Was out all day and hadn't had a chance to eat. Was passed 10 and still no food, so was offered white castle burgers. Took the meat out of two and mushed it up and ate that. Figured meat and some cheese, not bad... wrong. Did not agree with me and in 10 minutes tops I was in the bathroom. Lesson learned. Also realizing that some things I liked before I no longer enjoy. Like those white castle burgers tasted like pure grease to me, blech.
  3. Anyone here who got banded had numb spots on their stomachs? I had my surgery Wednesday, today is Sunday, and on my left side (not my port side) in the crease where my belly folds (where I wear my pants) it is numb. Then just some random lil spots on my belly that feel numb to the touch too. Feels weird. Anyone else have this?
  4. posted twice by mistake, sorry guys!
  5. Got banded Yesterday. Went well. There was a lot of pain getting out, all I said was ouch for like the first 10 minutes. Was def. in and out of it for a really long time . Got my own private room afterwards. got morphine for the pain while there. I'm just super sore and swollen. Came home today around 4/5 I think. Was given percocet (sp?) for pain, but pharmacist won't give me prescript due to the amount to be dispensed being written in the wrong spot *rolling eyes* Been eating okay. Not hungry at all really, so had like 2oz of apple sauce and some water later on. Sleeping sore as I am is def. not fun :-/

    August 2009 bandsters?

Hi! I got banded yesterday too  Super sore here, can hardly sit or lay. Thankfully not much gas, though I did buy gas-x strips just in case. Maybe those will help you? I got percocet for pain, but my pharmacist wont fill it because they put the amount of pills to be dispensed in the wrong spot *rolling eyes* thus far doing okay without them though. Might just buy liquid tylenol tmw for any pain. They told me to crush all pills I need to take minus birth control which is small enough to pass. Best wishes, feel free to get in touch with me :crying:

Today is my day and I can't sleep, eep! I'm not nervous yet, but once I get there I will be for sure. I hate hospitals, and anesthesia absolutely terrifies me

Just wanted to thank everyone for their support and comments. I am getting in Protein in through isopure and chicken breasts. As of Monday-Tuesday I will just use Isopure. I hate hate hate the aftertaste but at least I'm getting my protein in now. Still tired but not as much as before. Pre-op diet is tough, so I wish everyone pre-op the best, you can do it! Did I cheat? Yes, kinda. I had 2 skittles today, and found them way too sweet. And yesterday I hadn't ate since much earlier in the day because I was out, and I was starved, so we stopped at mcdonalds, I got just the grilled chicken breast from a chicken sandwich. No bread, no toppings. Which isn't bad, was just chicken breast, but we all know they are high in sodium and not the best, but yeah that wasn't too terrible and I learned that if I am in a super bind for just 1.60 I can get a chicken breast from them with no frills. But nothing but clear liquids from here till tuesday then wednesday is surgery, woohoo Best wishes to all pre-ops and everyone getting banded this week!

    August Bios

Hola! I'm Jailin, I'm 25 and from NYC. My surgery is scheduled for next week August 5th. It took me about 2+ years to get approved by my insurance but finally the time has come. I have been overweight since I about first grade and I don't remember what it's like to be under 200lbs. I currently weigh in at about 279 with 303 being my highest when I first started pre-op testing. Currently I am on my pre-op diet, low cal Clear liquids for ten days. I am not doing so well, as there is about 0 Protein in this diet and I feel so lethargic and useless. I just got off the phone with my surgeons office but he is in OR all day. I need them to allow me protein or such because I can not function, I just lay in bed all day when I don't have to be out running errands. Running errands is a lot of work feeling like this. I'm all for the diet if it's to help me, but I don't think feeling weak and exhausted is what I need in order to get through surgery and heal well. I wanted to go get some Isopure today but I haven't been able to drag myself out of bed, and the closest GNC is a half hour to 40 minutes away  We'll see what happens. Glad to be a part of this awesome August group! Best wishes to all and I look fwd. to reading more from you all

    August 2009 bandsters?

Hola! NYC here, and having my band put in August 5th after 2+ years of insurance hoopla  Feel free to msg me, I would love to chat with fellow August bandsters, esp. if in NYC! Also I started pre-op diet on Sunday the 26th. Slipped up yesterday because the diet I was given contained no Protein, and when I spoke to my regular PCP it was pointed out that that was prob the reason why I felt so weak and tired ( I couldn't muster energy to do anything but sit and stare at the wall). So I boiled a chicken breast in broth and ate that for protein because I was about ready to pass out. and had nothing else on hand. Won't happen again as later today I will be going to GNC for some Isopure, and just ordered nectar online so I won't be without any. Is anyone else on Clear liquids only?
